That is the biggest form of horse**** I have ever heard. I wouldn't never down grade myself to be part of that sorry organization. lol! The TSSAA is out to get money and that is that! If we want to have a real champion in any sport...we need to have it like kentucky and indiana...No classifications. Shoot...in football, you can have a loosing record and make it to the playoffs! How lame.

I guess no one wants to admit there has been a problem with making contact with the middle school coaches to trying to make a valiant effort to impose the feeder programs into volunteer. i dont want to hear any excuses. has anybody on here heard of rick insell? Shelbyville's coach that won twelve state chmps. he started a program from the ele., middle, rec league, and then on into high school. once the girls got to high school, he didnt have to teach basic offense, defense to them...they already knew them! everyone cooperated. he is now the girls coach at mtsu. if no one tries to do this...it is pure laziness and afraid of true success.

The biggest problem I have with refs in High School is the "out of position calls." If the refs are not in shape to keep up...go ref in a little league game. Also, I have played college ball and one of the biggest things you have to get used to is the rougher play that the refs let slide in college. In high school, you can barely touch someone or bump someone and the ref calls a foul!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please don't tell me that this is to keep the players safe...that is BS. Until they reprimand the refs for being horrible at thier job, nothing will change...they have all the power in sports. Like B. Knight said...refs are the most protected organization in the world.

You are exactly right about the feeder systems! I know that surgionsville, and church hill will not have great players year in and year out, BUT they can atleast know what in the heck they are doing! For example...setting screens properly, shooting with proper technique, BOXING out, etc. Shoot, the middle school teams don't even have to win...JUST learn to play the game properly. It is way past due for the girls programs to get started. not just every other year when a good player comes along! Quit making excuses and get it done. look at what rogersville city schools has accomplished with thier feeder systems. good looking group coming up in the next couple of years!

I stand corrected! I remember when van huss came over to talk to me before a game one time and that ment more to me than anything at that time. He was a special man(from the old school). Sometimes, people make accusations toward people. Just like a lot of the comments on this message board says that we are a bunch of redneck hicks, hayseeds, etc., if you come from Hawkins Co. I apologize if any was offended.

If you want to give up that information about what undergarmets you wear...that is up to you. I just was asking if you worked for the school system. It has been a few years ago, but when I watched Volunteer play it looked like they had just about a bigger number of coaches sitting on the bench or around the bench than players. Just an observation. I went to Volunteer and wish and hope for the best for them! Did you go to Volunteer? It also seems like everybody in here picks on you. I will be glad to help you out and defend Vol. from the stuck up people from up the road.

Is stokomo a REAL staff member or a "volunteer" for the staff. Do you work for the school system? I also didn't think you could coach AAU to student athletes that are part of your team? Please correct me if I am wrong.

I read the article from the newspaper and one thing disappointed me very much. I only noticed the Volunteer coach bieng qouted, so I can only go by his statements. Why didn't the coach reprimand his players for not acting in a mature and sportsman like manner during the ball game, no matter what happens! What if the district tourney was next? The team would be done!!! I would be very disappointed in my players if this happened to my team. You have try and go over every situation with your team...just in case! I know things are going to happen, but you still have to discipline! This would be a perfect oppurtunity to do some like lessons. If this was in a parking lot or bar...the kids would be in jail. Hopefully, the coaches did discipline behind close doors. AND no the players not getting to play the next two games are NOT punishment enough. I am from Hawkins Co. and this disappoints me, not from the standpoint of the fight, but how it was supposedly handled. Like I said earlier...maybe it was addressed after the game behind closed doors.

Does anyone know if Volunteer has hired anybody to take over as Head Girls Basketball coach? OR who has heard anything on anybody?
