Okay... Let er rip! How far wilkl Humboldt go in the new playoff system?

Word out of Humboldt is that Quan Campbell, very athletic and talented running-back is eligible after passing his math class. He has not been with teh team all spring because the coaches wanted him to focus on grades. The team still beat up on Bolivar in their spring scrimmage and looks poised to make a run now.

Humboldt has actually changed their helmets to cardinal helmet, gold numbers (like Alabama)

The defense will need to be led by rising juniors Quincy Woods and Octavious Ward and rising Senior Donovan Thomas. A lot of holes to fill up in the front 7. Losing Rodney Nance to Milan will also hurt....

So Humboldt's defense and special teams dominated this one. I guess those boys from Humboldt had a little pride and wanted to go out with a win. A great season for Gibson County. Humboldt was one bad call from being in the tiebreaker. It was a shame that their victory against Westview was wiped out by a jerk official.

Just because you say that someone taped it does not make it so. I have seen the field tape and the play is being sent to the TSSAA. The call that was made was clipping. the players helmet was in the front of the of the Westview player. There are two angles that it is clear. In addition, the referee's head was turned toward the punt returner and saw the the Westview player go down out of the corner of his eye. He had the throw the flag 15 yards to his right. AND by the way, there were three obvious takedowns by the fullback from Westview on Humboldt's linebackers that were not called. Should have been the same official's call. Oh and for your reference, the chain crew was admonished at halftime by the line judge for not stretching the chain when Martin had the ball. There was dirty pool. It is unfortunate when grown men (officials and chain crews) resort to this type of silly behaviour and then affect the outcome of the game. The punt return was a touchdown...period. And oh by the way, if your best friend's mom taped it... you had no angle to see it from the home side. Martin's coaches said that it was a clean play, also!!!! So there--- my friend!

Just out of curiosity, What makes Milan so much better this year? Same running backs and receivers....is the QB that much better?

Okay! I am a Humboldt fan. I am sure that we are overmatched. We play a whole lot of Sophomores on defense. They sometimes make mistakes and that could be a disaster. I was proud to see them fight friday night. They got scored on in the first quarter and then did not allow another score until the 4th. That score came against number 2's. They also returned punts well, including one for a touchdown. They are good kids and work hard. This may not be their year, but it will come. As for Milan, we will not concede before the game starts. We will play you til the end!!!!!

So here is how I see it. Last Friday night's game was a tale of two halves. The first half for the Vikings looked mush like the first two games. Uninspired. But in the 2nd half, we got a glimpse of what they are capable of. They had the ball with a chance to tie the game after a big stand by the defense. It is important to remember that they have sophomores all over the field right now. It is taking time for them to learn to be disciplined and cut down their mistakes. Gohawks. Before you start using language like " that is a fact", you need to do your homework. The defensive coordinator's two sons refused to play for Coach Hampton last year at JCM and have transferred over to Liberty. They both play. There has been a very questionable real estate transaction take place to give them a zoned address. There are also others that are living out of zone, but "appear" to be in zone on paper. I would not stake my reputation on what you are told at Liberty. There are some good folks there, but there are also some liars (starting with the AD).

Humboldt won the overall linemen competition and SS beat USJ. Humboldt destroyed Halls in the 7 on 7 35-6. The defense had 6 interceptions.

Okay. Will they be better than last year's 5-5?

I think that it is : 1. Milan 2. Humboldt 3. Westview 4. JCS 5. Peabody 6. USJ 7.GC 8.Dresden Humboldt could upset Milan this year. They are very young, but athletic... They look like a small Henry County!
