Prayers from Humboldt!

I saw the game at McKenzie. Dresden is not a group of oompas or fat boys. #86 is a beast! # 40 is super active. #77 gets after you on defense. #56 plays great on both sides of the ball. #10 is a solid player. #34 has a huge heart and runs downhill. #23 has jets for feet and can run like the wind. And the quarterback is an AMAZING player. Our guys over in Humboldt are working hard and I can assure you that they are not taking this Dresden team or this game lightly. Our coaches will work hard and help the boys understand the plan just like they have every week of the season. Our kids will not be calling names or disrespecting the Lions. They don't like it when others call us Scumboldt or other personal derogatory terms. Our kids went to McKenzie the other night as a group and represented our team and our town with class. They love their coaches and their coaches love them. They work hard and feed off each other. It will be a tough game, but it should be fun to watch. I am picking the Vikings! GO HUMBOLDT!!!

I heard that the Vikings have had a couple of good practices and are preparing for both Dresden and McKenzie styles of offense and defense. They are pumped and ready to play. I think that whoever gets to the next round might have their hands full!

McKenzie is by far the stronger team. In fact they are bigger, faster and stronger. They will win by at least 21 points. Everyone knows that McKenzie was working through some game issues when they played before and the Rebels "allowed" Dresden to hang around. that will not happen this time. Dresden QB beware, the Rebel D is going to come after you and you will NOT be able to escape. In fact I believe that McKenzie will walk through this quad for a rematch versus Adamsville. Maybe no one should show up for these games as McKenzie already has them won. Or do they?

WOW! Using your screwed up logic would lead to all of us believing that Halls will win versus Lake County. Trenton beat y'all by more than 7 and then only beat Halls by 7, so therefore you will lose. Sorry, no number two this year!

Bigster, Get the facts straight. The better stats were the 380 yards rushing that the Vikes put on you. I understand that Humboldt's game plan was to give up short plays and make Lake county work to score because they had shown impatience on film. The coaches knew that the turnovers would come because lake co has done it all year. By the way, the key stat is 2 to for Humboldt and 6 for lake co. The other key stat is 3 plays from the 1/2 foot line and you couldn't get past our DEFENSE! Oh yeah and 99 yards later, Humboldt had 7 more points. SORE LOSER!!!!

Humboldt looked ok on offense but didnt think they were as pyysical as Union City other than #32 for Humboldt.I think Union City will play the run better than Lake Co whereas a team can throw on them. This is what you said in a previous post. You were dominated and gave up 380 yards of rushing between the tackles where you had 8 players. Write it however you want. It does not make it true. And your quarterback was throwing 8 yard stop routes into the ground. Good Luck and hope you can get it back together for the playoffs.

Okay, Bigster and everyone else on here. Humboldt fumbled twice which is uncharacteristic. That stopped two drives that would have ended in points. Those of us that actually have watched the Vikings all year know that when we get to rolling downhill, the only people who stop us is us! The coaches called at least 5 more passes that were play action passes and the quarterback decided to run because no one was in the flat to cover it. This included the run from the goal line to the 13 that got the first down. Our quarterback is at his best on playaction or sprinting out and has thrown 9 TD's in the previous 3 games. Defensively, Humboldt's secondary has had trouble letting receivers behind them in key situations. Lake County has made a living all year throwing it deep when they got behind (see South Fulton, Union City). It appeared that our coaching staff made the decision to make Lake County earn every yard by not allowing Lake County to get a huge play. In addition, the Lake County QB was pressured at least 15 times and threw several balls to his left into the ground. That was exactly where Humboldt was forcing him to throw. Two of the high passes came with our #63 in his face. Bigster, your credibility is not very good when you make a comment that Humboldt is not very physical when they ran the off-tackle play 20 times in a row and smashed the front 8. Your comment about players going for the strip is rewriting history as well. On one run, Wedley dragged 4 people into the endzone. On the double reverse, your players were shouting that Brooks was getting the ball. They had scouted film. The coaches threw a loop into that! On that play, Wedley was the lead blocker and your player kept running backwards because he did not want to get mashed. A team does not rush for 380 yards between the tackles without being physical. Finally, I am so proud of how our boys worked together. Lake County's plan was to stop Humboldt's tailback and spread. The team responded by having the fullback wear out the defense and several times the tailback was 25 yards downfield blocking for him. They then started getting the tailback the ball on the option and toss and every player on the offense was downfield with 3rd and 4th blocks! On McCorry's TD int return, he should have been tackled, but he slowed down to allow 6 Vikings to catch up and get around him and they blocked a path for him. Humboldt has a great "TEAM"! We show respect to our opponents. Our coaches would never allow a player to stomp and spit on the middle of the opponents' field. The same player was dancing while Humboldt's band played when y'all were down 21 points. I don't know if you noticed, but the majority of the "soft-hitting" plays that the Humboldt offense ran went right at that player. Anyhow, good luck to Lake County in the playoffs. You have a great team that can score at will. You scored 52 points versus Union City. That was impressive! I hope we can beat them by at least 1 point. The way you have presented this, we probably don't have a shot. But our players are on a mission and I think that they will be ready!

BUMP

Humboldt held South Fulton to 15 yards rushing the 1st half and led 21-0. The Vikings were banged up after the loss to Milan and had sveral players not practice all week. The Vikings were sluggish on offense in the second half. They moved the ball deep into South Fulton territory several times but did not finsh the drives. They missed two field goals. South Fulton scored on two deep passes over a sophomore corner that would not have been in the game if not for an injury. Humboldt has a lot of work and healing to do this week if they are to compete with Jo Byrns. The Humboldt defense is SOLID. The offense has yet to be dominant.

Since they started district play, South Fulton has played well against Humboldt. It took Humboldt scoring on the last drive two years ago and the Red Devils put 27 on the Vikings last year and hung around until the late 4th quarter. What has happened to South Fulton?

Adamsville got a lot of love in the area for beating Bolivar. I saw the tigers in a scrimmage and they were NOT impressive. I wonder if Adamsville can handle a grinding ground game. I have not seen them. It will eb interesting to see how they handle the Panthers.

Humboldt is 1-1 and coming off a tough home loss against Milan in which the defense truly only allowed 1 drive. South Fulton is having a rough early season losing to Bruceton and West Carrol. How do you think this one will go?

I saw both games this week and I think Milan might have a battle on their hands. The psychology of the smaller school will determine how this thing goes down. The two offenses are very similar, although Humboldt is starting a lot of sophomores. The response from the youngsters to the pressure could be the x-factor. I predict Humboldt to win by 6.

We want to see Humboldt's stands full for the next three weeks as they will see Crockett County, Milan and district 14A foe South Fulton. The Alumni association has revitalized the stadium and pressbox during the offseason and the facilities are top notch. It is a great place to watch a game! The folks are all neighborly and love their Vikings! Go Humboldt!

If you watch "The Boys of Fall", Saban talks about wanting guys that have the greatest competitive fire. Jabriel Washington possesses that fire. Alabama will put him on the training table and he will work his but off and put on 20 more pounds and be an unbelievable player. All of this other discussion about weak and small is nonsense. He will grow into his legs. He works really hard and will thrive.

Was never on a tirade. I don't think that any others are right for saying hateful things either. These boys deserve better than what is said here. The players read this site and are hurt by what is said. You have a right to say that Humboldt did not impress you.It is a point that you feel you need to make. Free country. It is okay to defend your own. You don't have to demean others to do it. As for introspection, I think that that is what my post was all about. I suffer the losses and celebrate the wins with these kids. Kids. That is what needs to be remembered. Attack me if you want. Just leave them alone. And for the record, Humboldt impressed the heck out of me all year. They lost their captain...their lifelong friend...their brother and cousin...and perservered. Undefeated district record, district championship, complements from opposing coaches for how they acted in wins and losses. And last night they had their noses bloodied...BUT NEVER QUIT. I was and AM IMPRESSED by these young men.

TCAEE... I want to tell you first that I want to complement your team. Washington is a great player and has great parents. I know them well. The Key kid that plays tackle is a great kid from a great family. The Yates kid is a great receiver and is from a great family. His cousin is Coach Yates, the offensive coordinator at Humboldt. I read nothing prior to the game disrespecting your team nor underestimating your team. The coaching staff at TCA is awesome. I can ASSURE you that the coaches at Humboldt knew how good TCA and Jabriel Washington are. I want you to know that your entire body of work on these boards is what people are responding too. You are entitled to say whatever you want on the boards, no matter how venomous or mean-spirited. Everyone can be ugly on here. When your name is "TCA"ee, people are going to lump your comments with that school. Trinity CHRISTIAN Academy! I am a Christian and my Christ said "love one another as you would love me" and "turn the other cheek". I saw a very hard-played game between two teams that had worked extremely hard to get there. The fact is that one team has been through a tremendous amount of heartache and sadness (through no fault of their own) and one team has players that all come from great families that support them and can afford to send them to a private school (which is a great thing - not bad). My point is that when the game whistles blew, none of that mattered. All of the players were just boys playing a game together. It was a clean, hard-fought game. TCA had success and Humboldt had success. TCA won the game. Good for you. But I think that YOU are losing the battle of representing CHRIST when you act as you do on this board. I appreciated your team last night in their graciousness and I hope that they win it all. I hope that you will search your heart and realize that we should not be teaching our kids what I have read in the last 3 pages of this topic. I hope that you get to read this because if I know Butchie, he will delete it. Kane Young, the kid that died at Humboldt had accepted the Lord and was leading his team and in a positive way. Humboldt never gave up last night and never acted poorly and had great sportsmanship and cried and prayed together just as TCA did. We should be celebrating THAT!!!

It was not a blown coverage. The defenders had perfectly bracketed coverage. It was a good pass and reception. The DBs played it perfect and the receiver executed.

Can we please "move on" with this page and close it? It is ridiculous that this is gone on for 51 pages...sheesh.
