  1. That's #2 Taylor Reed. He broke his collarbone on that play. He was back in time for these last three games, all of which are region games.
  2. I didn't say "when" they win tonight. I can assure you, the Owls take no game lightly, and tonight's game is no exception. It doesn't pay to be overconfident...shows a lack of class, demeans your opponent (whose players work every bit as hard as yours) and can really come back to get you. My post was meant as a tribute to these seniors who have given their best...nothing more. That said, I predict no tricks, just treats, for the Owl fans. Go Owls!
  3. Ah, but the easy road is usually the most well-traveled, and thus, full of hazardous potholes, especially for the overconfident driver. MUS, MBA and BA all took on out-of-state powerhouses this season and if any of the three make it to the championship game, they can say proudly that they didn't take the "easy road" to get there.
  4. The Owls go up against St. Benedict tonight, and a win will hand Coach Bobby Alston his first undefeated regular season since taking over the reins from legendary Coach Jake Rudolph. There is no doubt that the Owls success so far this season has been a 100% team effort, but tonight it's about the seniors: #1 Barret Folk, #2 Taylor Reed, #3 David Tillman, #4 Rhobb Hunter, #5 Lowell Hays, #6 Will Benton, #7 Joel Moss, #10 Johnny Carson, #12 Michael Folk, #15 Austin Smith, #19 Kimbrough Taylor, #28 Walt Wepfer, #30 Graham Jones, #32 Will Stokes, #33 Barry Hillyer, #36 Walter Barnett, #49 Buddy Morrison, #53 Michael Edwards, #55 Michael Delugach, #60 Wesley Shannon, #67 Cliff Jones, #71 Jack Steffner, #72 Roy Fox, #78 William Paxton, #84 Dylan Cunningham, #85 Derek Haynes, #98 George Coors, #99 Andrew Maroda and the hands-down best manager around Drew Cornaghie. Let's go Owls!
  5. I know it says the stats cover "through" the 10/17 games, but they don't. From what I can tell, they haven't changed since the games the week before. MUS played their 8th game on the 17th, but the stats show only 7 games. I think now's a good time to ask...when will they really update?
  6. Barry's made huge strides since last year...he's learned how to let the O-line work for him. It makes a big difference when a QB has faith in the line. I have to say I really appreciated the ECS PA announcer, calling out the linemen by name on good blocks. Thanks ECS for showing the big guys some love! Now go beat Briarcrest.
  7. I saw the score, but my aging brain forgot it and I can't find it, but I know CBHS beat St. Benedict easily. MUS had the ball on the goal line in the waning moments of the game and the QB took a knee rather than score...possibly to give ECS a better shot at the playoffs (in the event of a tie) by keeping the score a little closer??? ECS played well and MUS was slow to start. I'm betting on ECS to beat Briarcrest next week.
  8. Hunter Beedle at Sullivan South for lineman. Offensive success starts at the O-line.
  9. Austin Long OT Briarcrest, committed to Georgia, beast of a lineman. My pick for the Lineman of the year. N'yah...not so much impressed with Austin Long. The 5'10" 175-ish OLB at MUS got tired of Long swatting at him and finally slung him around and tossed him down like a sack of potatoes. The MUS OL and DL...now they're the beasts! MUS has outscored its last three opponents 131-7. You don't get there with weak linemen.
  10. In keeping with your scenario, then EHS would play BA, and MUS would play MBA, with the top-seeded teams having home field advantage. There are still games to be played, though, and anything can happen.
  11. Well, I know one score...MUS 48, Briarcrest 7.
  12. Yeah, right. If he's so humble and doesn't showboat or boast, then why on earth did he turn to face the MUS crowd after the game a year ago (CBHS won 14-7...hardly a decisive victory), and throw up his arms in a bicep-flexing gesture? Funny thing, though, he didn't do that after MUS beat OB this year. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  13. Unless I miss my guess, I think that part about lack of discipline, etc., was sarcasm. You should have done the link he provided (via the underlined phrase) before you started calling names. I think that would shed some light on rollred's comment.
  14. Actually, I understand the Cavs came down on Thursday, so the distance should not have been a factor any more than any other away game.
  15. You're not kidding...there was no coverage at all of this game on the Friday night sports shows last night. It was all about MS and AR teams.
  16. I said I'd be back on after the game, so here I am. Don't really know what to say...I know the loss stings and the ride home will be hard, but you'll recover. The Owls clicked tonight, and I'm proud of them. Thanks to the Cavs for a good home and home series. Hope you guys win out.
  17. Mr. Heisman, MUS has a webcast of all home games. Go to www.musowls.org, click on "athletics" and it will take you to the webcast link. The feed starts five minutes before the 7 pm kickoff. Here's to a good, clean, injury-free game. Go Owls!
  18. Trader B...for some reason my computer glitched and didn't pick up our exchange last night, but I recall you asked if last year's QB was the senior I was referring to. Last year's starting QB was then-senior Blair Wright, and Barry Brunetti backed him up. The #2 QB this year behind Brunetti is Johnny Carson, a current senior. Johnny is a very effective passer and while he hasn't had the snaps that Barry has had, he's done very well with his time on the field. Thanks for the kind words you've given the Owls so far this season. This senior class is a very special group of young men. I've never seen such a cohesive bunch of players. All of us senior moms saw it years ago when they started playing as 7th graders. Many of them spent most of their time on JV up until this year, and I'm amazed at how they have all stepped up and assumed leadership roles. It's been great fun watching them play.
  19. While the Owls aren't a two-quarterback team in the truest sense of the phrase, they do have another outstanding QB (a senior) who is a very effective passer because he takes advantage of the time the O-line gives him. He's also a heckuva lacrosse player.
  20. I'll try to be here win or lose, even if only briefly. Us older girls can't be up too late!
  21. Yes, the Owls have several D-1 prospects and the offense they run is a really, really good one! More details to follow, say about 7 pm. Friday night! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  22. Here's the MUS stadium...outside shot/home side; inside shot/home side; visitors' side with baseball field in the background.
  23. Not sure how to post pics here...none of mine are posted to the web, so there's no url. If someone will tell me how, I'll gladly post a couple of the MUS stadium. Beats all of 'em in my opinion.
