You said it right. We cant gauge our talent due to the talent pool. I dont know were Art get we are better than I dont know when cause last year we had a stonger better team and a much stronger big 8 to play in. Very boring year to watch DB football but this will be a descent game. DB should take it but it will come down to turnovers and heart. Tribe by 14.

overall the big 8 is a week conference this year. Last year almost every team in the big 8 had a stronger team. To me this year has been pretty boring except for the DB vs Bears and South and TN High (only cause of the buzzer beater score). I hope the other conference teams are down to so the big 8 wont get killed come playoff time.

DB- Cooke will be just fine, he's talented. #8 should show out and Foreman may show up and may not. Cherokee- I'm with Cherokee on this one. The Ryans kid at QB is the best in East TN if not the State, in my opinion (they better market him, he's that good). They have the House kid thats talented to, running the ball. TH - I hope you pound the Patriots in the ground. SH - The Hill will be tough this year. SE

The key thing you said is "He's been to all the combines". He has marketed himself properly (his parents have) It's not a bad thing, it's a good thing and it's something that alot of parents and kids dont do or cant do. No not all good athletes have money but, they pull together and carpool these kids ect. The combines are usually around 40.00. The camps are a different thing. They normally cost 100.00 plus. Their is millions of athetes and if you dont put yourself out there to be seen, then they will not see you 90 percent of the time! ok and as far as your other comment about what Ty brings to the table, I'm just gonna leave that question alone all together. I wish him only the best but like I said I will keep things real. Also just because you have area's to work on and maybe lacking in is not a bad thing. It's life and something you have to work on. Some people just don't know how to take constructive critisism or difference of opinion.

Well you can over dramatize it all you want but facts are facts. Many over rated players get scholarships and then end up right back at home. I'm not saying this will happen to Ty and I hope it don't but people like you are the ones that make him look like something he's not. He is good but not great by no means. Maybe at the college level he can climb up and set on that pedistal that you all have waiting on him. The arrogance that's been displayed is unreal.

It's called "Marketing" If you have some talent then you have to market yourself in which Ty parents had the money to do for him, some of the others dont or just dont know to do it and thats why they dont get the looks. DBKingOfSports, your to obvious. Batman, yes Ty lacks in certain areas and the D1 scholarship doesnt change that one bit. I hope only the best for this young man but I also keep it honest.

I'm with G.Clark on this, I would rather have a good practice. Funny thing, last year people laughed at the DB player and said they had their practice uniforms on and looked like they had just came out of practice because their uniforms were dirty. The thing is, they had just came out of practice. They practiced for about 2 hours and loaded up.

Since when do colleges only recruit from their area? It's great to get all you can from the back yard but thats not how it works and your statement sounds ridiculous To say that was one reason why football failed at ETSU is crazy just like you saying we don't produce talent in the area. Also, why does it matter when DB won the championships , it's documented? You are sitting here comparing basketball and football on a football thread WHAT????????? If you want to try and have one up on DB then go to the appropriate thread cause you have NOTHING to brag about here.

Talked to Burton and I ask him how things was looking and he said we look pretty good except the O Line but the development from now till the season will be crucial for that group. He said Ty and Justin will do fine but some major work has to be done. He said our freshman group last year was one of the biggest in size we've had in a long time but also one of the worst. He wished we could have our O line from last year with this group and we would be in good shape. Thats just conversation talk and he also said Hall broke the bench press record (even though he is gone)and that Barrret is pushing them hard in the weight room. The new coach from GC is there. Not much, but a little info.

Just in case your not aware of this, Our JV team dresses out with the varsity to make the 70-80 players and most of the JV starters are our second team Varsity.

I agree with you here BM. Rich or poor, they earn their positions. That is why we have guys going both ways, they want it and they are the ones getting it done in practice. Some kids are satisfied with just being part of the team, playing or not. Work ethic is the big factor here, Thats why we don't have 100 plus anymore. Practice is Hard and the coaches are tough and the kids choose the easiest road. It's not good, but it's the truth. This starts at Home people! As far as the schedule, we should play some local teams. It keeps the flavor going but our schedule should not get weaker through out the season. It kill us come playoff time. We have the players most years, we just don't have the depth in schedule to keep us ready. We start off with a strong schedule and it declines so, when it comes to the playoffs we are not ready for the competition.

Maurice was also supose to go to Carson Newman but he didn't do his part of the work, maybe he will get it together. I heard that Steele mat not sign tomorrow due to paperwork but, he is definatley going. Also, Leeper committed with Brevard. Anyone know of others?

Cory Hall, Chris Sensabaugh, Sean Seabolt and Derrick Steele will be signing with Carson Newman Wednesday. Congrats to these guys and I wish them a wonderful future with the Eagles. I knew these guys were close and I guess this really shows it.

Devaun Swafford will be explosive. Ty is a good player but I heard he didnt do well at all in the combine. I know he wasnt in the top ranks cause they were posted. I think he will get a good offer but I wouldnt say 5 stars by no means. Hunter Holt will do as much if not more and the other 2 will be Will Allen and Justin Long. Letters mean absolutley nothing.

Is Watson retiring or just stepping down from the lead position?

I wouldnt be suprised if Carson Newman is over flowing with DB talent this year. I was told by one of the kids sister the other day that, CN was after them and that several of the boys liked the idea of staying together. The way she talked it was about 5 of them. I don't know how accurate she is but I'm sure she is not totaly wrong.

Don't think Coach Kersey is coming back so he maybe taking his place, if it's true. I heard that several of the DB team mates are trying to go to the same college, to stay together as a group.
