  1. Solomon not totally true. In the 08-09 season it was 7-7 at half time. In that being said I just want to see heritage come out hit hard and sustain some drives. Play smart football. And maybe put a few points on the board in the first half. Even If they do all that do I think they will win probably not but it will at least make a game worth watching.
  2. If heritage plays like they did last week against hardin valley, LC doesn't stand a chance, but if they come out like they did against Jeff Co. its gonna be a long night. Heritage proved they can play ball. They just need to do it 2 weeks in a row.
  3. I see heritage winning this one. They beat jeff a year ago in a scrimmage. The have a great running back and a quarter back that makes very good decisions. He won't turn the ball over. Defensively they are very young but can potentially be a good squad. They're d-line is very disciplined and have a mean pass rush.
  4. even your second link and its video says evan brown got defensive mvp honors, and as i watched the game after it was over on tv they announced brown as the mvp and interviewed him for it.
  5. Congrats to Evan Brown from Heritage on getting the Defensive MVP of the East-West game!!
  6. As far as i know most coaches from last years staff are coming back. The list on here is not completely accurate.
  7. I'm not to worried about the linebacker postion for HHS next year. Does it hurt losing JL Click. Well yes of course it does. But you have Malone stepping in at mike backer and most people know who follow the heritage program that him and Jon Tran bring the pop every play. Tran started half the games last season on varsity. Then to go with those two. You have Larue who is a heck of a football player and Jole Payne. So i feel HHS will be okay at the LB's next season. Offensive life wise HHS started two sophomores last season and had two players out due too injury and one player dismissed midway through the season. So while the line was rocky this past season, should have plenty of experience to hopefully go out and compete next year. With the QB's you have J. Newman who is a great athlete all around that's just a little rough around the edges. Then you have Jake Olvey who is an extremely smart kid that makes good decisions with the football. You have LaRue who is young and more of a runner but his arm is coming along. rumor has it Matt Plummer might rejoin the team also at QB along with R.T. Byrd but im not sure about either. And as far as athletes roaming the halls. If they were athletes they would be on the field. Not walking around the track on friday nights. So its kinda a moot point.
  8. I would like to see Tommy Rewis get a shot over there too.
  9. how about heritage doesnt have a freshman team because..... they moved them up to get experience playing older kids they will have to on varsity the next few years. oh and the freshman get the same amount of work as varsity. when varsity is on offense. then the freshman are with the varsity defensive coaches and visa versa. so they get alot more work then alot of freshman "teams" do around the state. who have seprate staffs made of of lesser coaches that arent qualified to be varsity coaches. end of conversatiion.
  10. so i dont know where all you ignorant people get you information but ive never heard brint russell ever say anything negative about George Q. i mean seriously you all talk like your at the heritage practices and coaches meetings. i mean seriously find something better to talk about... like how about losing in another state title game after telling the world you were gonna win it all. btw i love how 95% of your "high school heros" you talk about on here are all county kids. why dont you talk about how there is zero talent in the city. that for the city schools to win. they have to go else where to find talent. you should seriously send heritage and will b. thank you letters for allowing you to take there players so you can win games. cause lord knows without their kids you wouldnt be doing it.
  11. All i will say to this post after reading it is... congratulations karns on giving yourself this years excuse for going 0-10. we all know you needed one. at the end of the season you will all be saying. "its ok we got our head coach fired right before season. we'll win next year." 12 months after that... "oh its okay our team got the bird flu" 12 months later "oh its okay we just put in a new offense" 12 months later "oh its okay we just found a new lame excuse to fire our head coach again" 12 months later "its okay we just put in another new offense" 12 months later "i blame lane kiffin." etc. etc. etc. your team will never win because your all full of excuses. kids that dont show up to practice or workouts. your O-line are always way to fat and way to slow. your fans and parents are dick heads. did i mention excuses?
  12. one if we are talking my team as in heritage we did not walk around saying we were gonna win state so there wasnt that expectation or the cocky over confident and arrogant mood about us and i attend two schools games quiet regularly catholic with me being catholic and many of my friends kids in the program and part of the school and yes i attend heritage games. but once again we never claimed to be the best team in the state and we never assumed we would make a deep playoff run or win state you expected it to be handed to you we took it game by game. it didnt workout. we are backout there this season our players are working their rear ends off hoping to get to playoffs but not expecting anyone to just give it to them where maryville expected their opponents to just lay down only problem was... win it came time for the 15th win... it didnt happen did it? and now you dont have a cupcake schedule and im not sure you know how to handle cause the teams you play now will never hand out anything.
  13. hmmm catholic - 3a team last year... yes catholic - state champs last year... yes catholic - undefeated last year... yes maryville - 4a team last year... yes maryville - state champs last year... think not maryville - undefeated last year... haha in their own minds priceless... zane winders crying his eyes out on national television and espn and if we based everything off scrimages then when heritage beat up alcoa three years ago in a scrimmage they would won state... right? plus didnt alcoa own maryville?... yes alcoa is the 2nd best team in the state in my opinion and i respect everything they do and stand for. maryville on the other hand i have more respect for a losing heritage, william blount, and lenior city teams. (at least in the past for all 3) to early to tell what the future holds for all 3. when maryville can win without players they had to go and ask to leave other schools to play for them then and only then will i have respect. just to name a few people that shoulda been playing at heritage but not limited to... gary tucker, tyler martin, tanner caylor, and patton robinette... etc.
  14. With game day..........and a wet field...... I change to: Maryville 35 Heritage 7 Keep improving Rebels........I want to see Catholic and Farragut get hammered! hahahaha your crazy to think maryville even has a chance to beat farragut! Your gonna have to go to church 7 days a week to even have a chance and even with that much prayer your S.O.L. sorry boys this is 6a football not that cupcake crap your use to in 4a. Including playoffs your talking about teams such as farragut, catholic, Ooltewah, bearden, cookeville, oak ridge, and oakland. this isnt halls anymore. all these other teams recruit just as much as maryville if not more. plus they have a bigger area to recruit from. dont expect to go undefeated in the next 10 years or more. predictions heritage - 10 maryville -7 farragut - 28 maryville - 3
  15. my assessment thus far after week one. karns was either the weakest or the next to weakest team we will see this year. its a real close running between them and our upcoming opponent south doyle. im so glad we came away with a win though. hartley showed some good stuff in the second half, but on the other hand we cant have to many first halves like that, with two interceptions and a couple turnovers from fumbles that killed us, and hartley tends to have problems with over throwing his receivers. i do find my self a little worried that we only by one position against a team that was 1=9 and only returning 2 starters, but i could just as easily be under estimating karns. its to early to tell. our d-line and linebackers looker great and incredibly tough that i was happy to see, but we did give up alot of pass yards. im not sure we are playing the screen correctly but thats just my opinion. our offensive line did great when run blocking and moose did really good carrying the ball when. he was able to get back into the game. our pass blocking did look good for the most part and i was also very impressed with this but there were sometimes where the blocking broke down. the true test of what we were able to accomplish last week will be when karns plays willy b. this week and when we play south doyle. im pretty sure we can come out after our second game 2-0. and when i say we im talking we as heritage supporters of the team, the team its self and our coaching staff. GO MOUNTAINEERS. Good luck in future endeavors.
  16. lol ok lets talk football i have been around the team the last 2 days cermak is doing his best to try to get back down to a 4.5 in his 40 he actually told coach waters he wants to be at a 4.2 i think he was joking lol but its a good goal. alot of the boys have gotten faster on there 10 yard agility i can remember exact times but they were really good
  17. actually i was a kid who worked my butt off for four year aT heritage high school. i am one of the kids that benched over 300 pounds. i am one of the kids who started. i am one of the kids who never missed a practice in four years. minus one MAJOR family emergency and i was back at school the next day. i am the kid who played hurt his entire junior season with an injury that required surgery. i am the kid all four years that was vocal on the field and on the sideline when getting a breather. i am the kid that loves his fellow players and school more than himself. i am a four year Letterman i am a three sport athlete i am the kid that never whined or complained about the heat, just said heck coach is that a snow flake. i am best friends with people that worked there rear end off for heritage that had to sit out there senior season at times do to knee injuries and as far as my offensive line being weak my senior year dont say one word about jesse dixon, cody garland, john malone, and eric costner. when they were the four starters out of the five before injuries took over you had 4 guys benching 315, 325, 325, 395 respectively in the game. soo as you want to criticize me and my senior class and those before us why dont you look to the juniors that had to step into my comrades places and fill there shoes at the offensive line positions left vacant due to major injuries. i will not name names that is not how i am cause it was a team effort. and you talk about players playing to much both ways. but you wanted our best defensive player and leading tackler. who played hurt all year to double up and play running back for most of the game. now tell me where your logic is in that statement. i just dont see it. maybe coach west would be a good linebacker coach but with him it was the same 3 drills every single day. combo block cut block down block if the way he was teaching wasn't working then maybe he should try a new drill every once in a while i went to several major college football camps in my four years when west came in he told me everything that i had learned was wrong i have nothing against coach west as a person. he is a great guy and friend off the field but on it. while still a good guy. not a great coach and then as far coach young and burning the defense goes when you defensive coordinator is telling you the play they are running then i would hope a coach from the offense could "burn" the defense i almost bet that there isn't a single one of you on the booster club. i have never heard minh trans daddy or mother put down a player or a coach the way you have. i have never heard cermaks dad whine about his sons playing time. so if they can be supportive why cant you. i have never seen a bunch of parents or fans that cant support there players once they receive the title alumni. for most of us still put in our blood, sweat, and tears into that program and field. i just hope that none of you are people who are playing the game through there son because they never where the player they wanted to be. in conclusion my original post was not suppose to be in the negative i am very supportive of our new coach i shared my concerns and asked a few questions and that is it. i want nothing more for my fellow players that our following behind us to be successful i still talk to evan red, evan tall, minh tran, clayton shell, michael cermak, andy eldridge, jordan "moose" correll, andrew headrick, and tyler edmunds. they all know my support is with them i am good friends with all of them i have earned the respect of all of them even to the point that one of them came and asked me if they could wear my number next season if that isnt respect and leadership what is. and if you cant find me at the games next year ill be the heritage graduate standing on the heritage sideline holding up the sign that says MOOSE!! for jordan at request of him
  18. ummm well i guess your an idiot in yourself for assuming and well assuming makes an ###### out of you and me cause im not a parent and to be even more honest with you im a former player who played under all these coaches so even if you maybe watching i experienced i know how my fellow players felt about him and i know how some parents feel about him and im not full of negativity if you read im very supportive of this new coach i feel he is the man for the job coach waters is also making a big impact i just dont see how he is gonna feel all these open postions that have been left that is my only worry but i believe coach russell is more than capable of doing the job do i expect immediate results. . . NO and by immediate results i mean a deep playoff run in his first 1 - 3 years by i do feel by year 4 - 5 he will have our mountaineers back being a heavy competitor in our region
  19. im still very upset to hear that he will not be bringing back coach shane and coach nelson coach nelson has been a fixture at heritage even if he was just kept of to take care of the fields and be morale support he woulda been happy i think and coach shane wasnt asking to be a coordinator he was willing just to coach linebackers or just a postion coach of any sort but i guess that is done with now so with the loss of nelson, leatherwood, dunbar, shane, and young. that leaves west, coach mac and bradford. any word on whether these three will be returning... honestly im usually not the one to criticize a coach but i hope coach west doesnt return. i find him to be a joke. but it would be nice if they brought in coach whitehead whom helped with the offensive line part time last year. looks like to me he has alot of replacing to do. i wish him the best of luck and hope he can get a good staff together i have alot of hope and faith in this coach and think he was the right choice all together i hope he can bring in the staff he wants and i cant wait for season to support my mountaineer GO HERITAGE!!!!! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  20. rewis is still teaching american history at heritage... and will continue to teach.
  21. i have been told by one of the players in the meeting with him that 1. he plans on running the spread offense, but that will be based on his personal 2. he will run strict college style practices 3. he is young apparently around 30 oh one more thing for 1 week during the summer the kids will be required to attend camp and stay at the school over night
  22. i really hope heritage doest lose shane rewis as defensive coordinator he is a very good defensive coach and the players respect him but hopefully the new coach will bring in a four front rather than a three man front which coach shane has coached before
  23. heritage at the offensive line are losing Costner at guard Malone at center Dixon at guard and although he didnt last long garland at tackle all four were very good lineman while evan crockett, alex ogle, and caleb allen have all had playing time they were all tackles caleb allen can play center but i look for the luke eldirdge boy to take over for Malone you will probably see crockett and ogle at tackles while todd merriman and caleb allen will be at guard with a mix of ming tran there are alot of doubts in this offensive line for next year. especially at tackle. heritage all last season was getting killed off the edge. while last season the middle three could move 3 or 4 guys themselves luke eldridge- plays alot like malone... just not as dirty and plays a little lower todd merriman- already being short has a low center of gravity and he plays even lower and he is a strong kid minh tran- loves to hit and brings the pop every play evan crockett- play like he is very unsure of himself and he just needs to let himself loose and play the game he has the potential to be good alex ogle- good pass blocker stays infront of his man... but not a good run blocker. way to receptive
