  1. I do not agree with your last statement at all. Everything else, I can respect your comments but I'm sure that they care about the fumbles. How could they not. Turnovers are what lose ballgames for you. Look at any turnover ratio in any football games and by that number alone you can pretty much tell who won. Not 100% of the time but it is telling.
  2. As this game get closer, I'm geting more and more confident that this will be a "pivotal week" for the Bulldogs. I've seen some great improvement, week to week with the Bulldogs. I feel this young staff will have them excited and prepared for this one. If they pull this one off, it will take them to 2-1 in the reigon and right in the thick of the race for a playoff spot. However if they lose, it will take them to 1-2 in the reigon and put them in a nice sized hole to dig out of. Therefore this is a big game that will tell us in which direction the Bulldog program will go in the near future. Go Bulldogs!!!!! Big Game.........Prepare for it..........Execute..........Eliminate dumb penalties
  3. I have not seen Riverdale this year, yet but I have seen Siegel. Without question, they have talent. They are big up front (on both sides of the ball)............they have a solid D..........and some talented backs...........Riverdale has some things to work on as all teams do but I fell, if they don't shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers, they will win and it would not be close. However, I fell they will not fix it all in this week and it will be close...........17-14 Riverdale
  4. You asked does Smyrna have a Kicker? They not only have a kicker but he is very good. He has 50+ yard range on his feildgoals..........He's kick offs are over the goalline most of the time...........he's punts are between 45 to 55 yards regularly. I think he had a 65 yard punt "in the air" at BA last week...........Now, he can be a little inconsistent, he has punted off the side of his foot a few times and can try to kick it to hard and squive his kicks. But he has a very strong leg Now your pass/punt over and under. Unless you plan on seeing 15-25 punts in this game, I will go with the passes. Smyrna will throw it 10 to 20 times a game. They may not be down the feild but I'd say you'll see no less then 15 pass attempts from Smyrna in this one.
  5. He did at BA but he normally will not play a lot of D I'm sure it's not 80 but i get your point.
  6. I hear ya 2priceless. Smyrna need some more players to step up and make some plays. He is "spent" in about the middle of the 3rd. Is there anyone out there to make those plays? Yes, but very young!!! Not an excuse, it is what it is and someone needs to step up.
  7. Im pretty sure the total points will be more. Smyrna has improve every week and seem to be coming around. I think there was a comment from a blaze fan writing that you must stop #5. Good luck with that..........20-14 Smyrna wins.........should be a good one good luck........play hard
  8. I don't like the 2 QB system. They need to find 1 and stick to the him. I feel #13 showed some nice improvement on Thur. nights game and #14 played OK but made some turnovers in tough spots. As far as who they should play, I don't know but I do know they need to play 1 and win or lose with them. Hopefully win!!
  9. Any one have a take on the game? It's a few night out. Early in the year I felt it would be a battle of 3-0 teams. Instead its a battle of 2-1 and 1-2. Smyrna will need to play great and get some breaks to pull this one out. I'll be there to support them Bulldogs. If you forced me to pick a winner I'd have to go with BA. Don't want to and I hope I eat my words Thursday night. Go Dogs!!!!! Let's go bulldog fan........Show'em the PURPLE..........Show'em the GOLD
  10. You tell'em C'bus!! When and where are they playing? I'd like to take a look at them outside the scrimmage formate i saw them in earlier this year.
  11. Great win last Friday bulldogs!!!! Got 1 W in the books. You need to build off these good feelings and play the game of your young lives to beat BA. Play hard and as a team. Do not make silly mistakes and you could be right in this one. Let's bring some great Bulldog support to Brentwood and help those young men beat BA. Put your negative feelings toward the coaches aside and support the young men on the field. They need the support even more now, then the Back 2 Back times!!! There, I'll hop off the soap box. It was nice to meet a fellow Coacht reader last week at the game. Good luck to you and your young son. I hope he get a fair look in the future. You know who you are. Go get'em BULLDOGS!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  12. Wow!!! /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> a Massillon guy handing out "props" to McKinley?? I may have to send this to my Dad. On the other hand, NO!!!! He??™s getting pretty old and this comment may put him in that ???pine box??? way to early. Don't let the old ???Tiger fan??? catch you saying this ???rubbish???. That??™s like me as an "Iggy" guy saying good things about St Ed??™s or Glenville or Warren G Harding....... I could go on for a while here. We have a lot of schools that think they are out arch rival. We can't pick 1. You know? I will agree with you though. I can't think of many programs that have such a deep historical impact on HS football. Period!!!!! Valdosta,GA. Is a great program but if we are talking about all time, I??™m not sure they touch Massillon or McKinley. (Notice which team I listed 1st?)
  13. If this is true, I am even more concerned then I was before. This is UN real! 35 players not showing up for a practice? 12 were late? What an unbelievable cluster. This is tough. This tells me Coach Williams has a team that does not respect him or his authority. I??™m not saying that the 47 players that did this were right but mayde Coach Williams and his staff need to look at themselves in the mirror and ask why!! He is going to have an important decision this week. Does he dress these 35/47 players that did not show? If he does he could have bigger problems in the future. WOW!! I am surprised to hear this is going on at such a program as Smyrna and if it is not fix fast, it could effect not only this years team but teams I the near future as well. My advice is fix it! And Fix it fast!!!
  14. Your right, I as a Smyrna fan, I do not expect the same results as the last 2 years to go on for ever. No realistic fan would. I understand that there are many changes and adjustments that need to be made and accepted by the staff and players. What I will not accept is the sloppy undisciplined play. You can say that it??™s a result of a new staff and new philosophies. But that will not excuse the players from walking on and off the field. That should be addressed, on the spot. It will not excuse the players making mistakes and when they get to the sideline, there is no coaching going on, right then. There seems to be very little teaching going on when mistake are made. Now maybe this is done in the locker room or in film study but my point is, you need to do some ???on the field??? coaching as well. I will disagree with you when you state Smyrna does not have the talent they had in the resent pasted. I feel it is opposite. Smyrna has talent. They may not have a Sonny Grey or Rod Wilks but they don??™t come along every day. You know? They have a great D-Line and an O-Line that has size and should be better. Lastly they have great team speed and one of the best RB in the state. What they do not have is a QB that is ready to take a snap let alone run a offence. They have 1 JR QB that played 1 half of a game last year and is now hurt. They have 2 sophomores that just are not ready for Varsity Football. Sorry but it??™s a fact. I fell this is what??™s wrong with Smyrna as of now. As far as everyone Saying ???Shad??? knew the talent was down so he got out. This could not be further from the truth. Talent in Smyrna is fine. Their JV and freshmen team is pretty solid and have some great talent in the pipeline. He left for family reasons and a new start with a fairly new program.
  15. From a Ohio HS football fan, I want to send out a heart fell congratulations to MBA players, coaches and fan. This is a big win for your program and TN HS football. Very well played game. Moeller is a very strong Ohio program and you pretty much dominated them on the scoreboard, with your play and on the stat charts. Nice job young men
  16. I'm sorry I thought you were going on history, that I know. If you are talking this year, your right, I and no one knows what the future holds.
  17. "Resent" history would not say so. Moeller is no longer a national, state or even a power in their city. Moeller is maybe, 3rd in their city to St. X and Colrain. Will it be a great game and is Moeller still a great team? Yes but they are not as good as their reputation. "If" MBA beats Moeller they would have beat a great Ohio team with a great reputation. Not a Ohio Powerhouse.
  18. I too have seen some things that should not be going on. The kids are very very relaxed. This is no joke, there were players on the sideline on cell phones and with I-PODs. Some were hurt and in street close but I saw 1 player in pads, talking on a cell phone. Why is there cell phones and ipods on the sideline. Kids on the sideline playing around with the watergirls. Players walking off the field, walking on the field, walking to the line of scrimmage, slow to get into alignments defensively. Yes, these are small things and are fixable but it goes a long way as to the control you have of your team. My feeling though, is that the garbage I mentioned above should have been tighten up day 1. This is why, earlier I asked for and opinion from a Blaze fan for a take on Coach Williams. You showed your approval and I look forward to seeing how his team shows up to play tonight. I have a hard time thinking he will except this stuff and I feel it will or has been addressed. We will see. Listen, I will be there tonight and I will be supporting those kids and the coaches but if i see that "un-discipline" crap I saw last week, I will be very disappointed.
  19. Sure big red big blue, Just to give you a little background and perspective, I played at Cleveland St. Ignatius which is a privet catholic school in Ohio. I love the ???strength of schedule point system??? that Ohio uses. Like earlier mention it deters your program from scheduling ???cup cakes??? and going 10-0. Like a school out in the eastern part of TN. As far as the public and privet separation, I like how it is done here in TN. My feeling is that Ohio should have 4 divisions in the public sector and 3 in the privet. Classifications should be based on the enrollment of boys in your school. Why I feel this way is simple, ???RECRUTING???. I know it is a dirty work in HS football but what privet schools do is a form of recruiting. There is no way around it. Again when I was at Ignatius, we got the best of the best players from NE Ohio. And we did for several years running in the late 80??™s and early 90??™s. Teams like Warren G Harding, Canton McKinley and Massillon, great teams but did not have the same opportunity as us. And for us to be competing for the same championship was not fair in my opinion. This has been a hot topic for some time now in Ohio. My thing is, if you look at the State Championships in all the divisions thru out the years. Ohio privet schools have dominated them. Not to say they have won all of them. Not to say a public school could not beat a privet school for a championship. It??™s just a fact that a Privet school has more of an opportunity to get better players from a bigger demographic. The big thing is that Ohio feels they already have too many classifications with 6. My idea would add 1 but it would be more evenly matched and playing by the same rules. This is coming from a privet school grade in Ohio. Most privet school supporters like how it is and feel its fair because of ???open enrollment??? but that is a much smaller demographic, of boys to pull from. Open enrollment rules state that you can go to another school district but is must touch the border which you live. But you can only transfer if the school has poor academic performances. If the school you are at is performing well academically you can not transfer. Privet Schools have much more boys to pull from. I don??™t know the exact demographic limitations of privet schools in Ohio but it is without question more then the open enrollment rules.
  20. Well it's 26 hours to kick off. I'll say this. Don't be shocked to see #5 playing a little QB for the bulldogs. They used him some in last weeks game, late and if Smyrna struggles early. He will be in there, in a shotgun like Ark. used McFadden a few year back. Could be Interesting. I have no confirmation here, just a hunch.
  21. yes, Mooney lost to Mentor. Mentor is a greaaat!! football team. Mooney is D4 and Mentor is D1 much much bigger school. Mooney also have 4 or 5 player from last years team at PENN ST, Ohio St and Michigan. They will be good again this year and play in the Classic this weekend. Mentor is one of the best team in the state and are not in the Herbie classic. Why? I don't know. But they do play some great ALB and FLA teams this year. Along with ST. Iggy and St. X. What a schedule they are playing this year. If you have direct tv and the sports pack, check out Mentor tonight at 6 CT on FSOH CH 660 Warren Harding is coming off a bad season last year but from all i hear from my boys back home, they may be back this year. They are returning like, 25 lettermen and have some D1 tallent on their squad.
  22. 106.7 in Nashville will carry it live. and if you have direct tv and the sports pack FSOH is showing it live and also a replay of it Monday AM.
  23. Yes, they were stout. Also take into consideration the schedule. They play realy strong programs and still had those stats. Not saying Riverdale didn't, don't take that the wrong way. It would have been great to see them duke it out. I do not have a son playing at Smyrna this year. He just turned 8. A future football player? I think so. He's got his daddy's size and his moma's brians. Which is a good thing for him. He can't wait to put the pads on but like me, he will not play football until he's in Middle school. My dad did the same with me and I turn out just fine. 2 year of Middle school, 4 year in HS and 5 year in collage was tough enough on my body and I still feel evey hit with every step I take now. ya know?
  24. There are 6 Divisions: D1 being the largest schools (like TN 5A). D6 being the smallest schools There is no Division with just privet schools like here. All schools are classifed by enrollment of boys Canton McKinley is in D1 They have 80 Boys (10-12) on the team this year. Here's the thing, they are 1 of very few teams in Ohio that have try outs. most of the time they have about 150 to 120 that try out. McKinley has 1550 students enrolled this year. Canton as a city has 3 Large HS with McKinley being the biggest.
