  1. Some joker was on the live McKinley BLOG embarrassing themselves and the Gallatin program……he was saying the Wave would beat McKinley 8 out of 10 time they played and The Wave was the best team not only here in TN but in the south……..He was “TNBALLER†If you know him u should rain him/her in because yall are better then that. Hope yall enjoyed playing in my home state……..sounded like yall came out healthy and good luck this year.
  2. You did miss read my post........I did not say one was more difficult then the other........I said it is different and for someone with no FOOTBALL COACHING background to jump into an OL coaching position is going to be a challenge. Now, he did play college football however I still come back to my point, where he has never coached football at any level. I wish him and the new staff at LaVergne the best of luck. Welcome to the toughest region it the state!!
  3. Correct me if I'm wrong thunder but is this not the OL Coach’s first year coaching football at any level. It’s a pretty tough assignment to be an OL coach for your 1st year of coaching. I know he's had some success with the track program at Lavergne, taking 1st and 2nd in the Discus at State but you know football is a different ball game.
  4. LOD, I don’t know who you are but that really doesn’t matter. All I know is we sure are on the opposite side of a lot of opinions. Your last post is no different. I will not make “predictions” however I will get into where I think you’re wrong. * I think Siegel will not be a dark horse, in fact, I feel that they will be battling for the basement in this region with Blackman. * Blackman will be solid on Defense against the run but they will struggle against the pass. Offensively they will not be the team they were last year. I can say with confidence that they will not put up the points they did last year. However they do have a nice RB coming back. * I think you are dead wrong with LaVergne. They may be the dark horse. LaVergne has always, always! had talent they just needed some good coaching and I think they may have that now. Oh yea....you still have ill feelings for him for when his Oak Ridge team beat one of Riverdale's mighty squad in the mid 2000's. No mater what you feel about him, a State Title and a runner up is not bad on a resume. He knows how to win. *Riverdale can be thrown on and will be slow out of the gate this year. I can see them coming together at the end of the year to battle for a playoff spot though. But you may be right it could be a 10 game season for them * Oakland is the only school we truly agree on here; I too think they will be solid. They have some holes to fill but some talent to fill them. * Smyrna: do you honestly think Smyrna is a one man team this year?? If so, you’re more off your rocker then I thought. I'm not saying they are not beatable, in fact I think they will loss one or two games people think they should win but a one man team they are not. I think they have a pretty good LB.....what's his name......oh yea "Meadows". If I'm not mistaking their QB is a 3 year started who has an above average arm and some talent around him. They are loaded with talent and speed and will battle for the title this year. And I’m not just talking about the region title. Let get this started. August 20th can not come fast enough!!!
  5. He was there in the spring and some of the summer workouts but a few offers came in late that included teaching and he will most likely take one of them.
  6. ??????? He has had a few other offers to teach and coach.
  7. Anyone know any teams that will be attending the 2010 Rick Stockstill 7 on 7 Passing Tournament on July 18th? Love some input….thanks
  8. Coach Stanton Stevens is the new head coach and OC. Coach Stevens was the head coach at Knoxville's Austin-East High School in 1999, where he turned a down program around quickly -- winning a state championship in 2001 and earning Class 3A Coach of the Year honors and finished there with a 50-13 record. Coach Stevens then coached Oak Ridge with some "up and down" times between the years of 2005-08 and finished with a record of 30-16, taking them to the Class 5A state runner-up trophy in 05. Coach Bledsoe will be the DC. He’s a Veteran coach with both High School and Small collage experience in Virginia and Greater Metro Atlanta. Coach Grooms will stay on as the only remaining coach from last years staff as the DL/Strength coach Coach Duggan form Gallatin and coached at La Vergne middle last year will coach WR/DB's RB coach?????? but will soon OL Coach = Coach Stephens ….. "No Relation" Coached with LHS Track in the throwing events and played D1 football. Coach Miller will be the freshmen coach……all I know is he was at Steward Creek coaching last year Hope this helps!
  9. No, they never travel outside of the comforts of their own confines. Ohioans always use the excuse that their powers-to-be won't let them travel. They need to get together and get it changed!! I will give Ohio credit for getting the national scene going by starting up the Herstreit Series. That is what really got the national traveling buzz going. I would agree with you on 2005 Riverdale/Colerain game, but you are waaaay off on the 2004 game. Riverdale was darn good that year, but Colerian was the probably the best team in the country that year. I would've predicted a close game, but a win for Colerain. Not true.......Some do travel........St. X. went to INDY. and played Central a few years ago and Mooney went to Burns NC and smashed them a few years back. So a few do travel. Not a lot but they do. LOD your point is valid......I'd like to see them travel a bit more too.
  10. Its fine......tell him to go to the weight room and meet up with Coach Grooms at 5:00. Nothing is mandatory right now due to summer activities like camps and things. July 12 is the 1st day of mandatory sessions, so he has time.
  11. Workouts started the day After Memorial Day. (Mon. – Thurs. 6:00 - 8:30) Freshmen Work out at 5:00 (Mon – Thurs.) Not sure who the freshmen coach is
  12. Lavergne Won the spring game with WC 4-2 and ran (I) very simple plays. 4 out of the 5 starting linemen and the Starting FB and LB did not play because they were at track practice throwing shot and discus and winning championships. And you don’t know a thing about Coach Stevens. You don't know what Oak Ridge had while he was there. All You know is they had $$$$$. So where do you come off with the “Wonder Coach” comment? Please understand he dose have a State Title. Lavergne will be a very solid team this year and will come up and bite some folks in the toughest region in the state. I come off saying it because I saw what he did with Oak Ridge after the game with R'dale where Coach Rankin was already gone mentally, and rightly so considering how ill his father was at the time. BTW I still do NOT think Ohio HS football is that much better than Tennessee. Like I have said before, let see them trot on down here and SHOW us. OK........we'll agree to disagree on the Ohio Football thing until we see a Ohio Powerhouse team come down here and crush any Tenn team........I get it. Now what happen when Coach Stevens was at Oak Ridge and Coach Rankin was at Riverdale?

  14. Are you for real? Steubenville, Mooney, Ursuline and Louisville are D3, D4, and D5 schools. Steubenville, Louisville are both D3 PUBLIC schools in Ohio and I can say with confidence that very few 6A teams in Tenn. could come close to beating them. And I can say with even greater confidence that not one 6A or 5A team in Tenn. would beat Cleveland Glenville (a Public School) I can keep going with just Public Schools, Solon, Toledo Whitmer, Dublin Coffman, Pickerington Central, Cincinnati Anderson, Lakota West, Mayfield, Warren Howland, Canfield, Hilliard Davison, North Royalton, Logan, Columbus Brookhaven, Cincinnati Turpin, Poland, Hubbard, Massillon Washington, Cuyahoga Heights. Those are all PUBLIC schools in Ohio that ANY 5A, 6A team would have a hard time beating ANYWHERE they play. With all that said MBA did beat Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller 21-6 and if I can remember right MBA had a terrible injury bug hit them in 08 and the “Stud” QB did not play most of the year as well as some other key players. If he’d of played all year MBA would have been a darn good team and would have made another run for a DII Title. So please don’t try to tell me that was not a good MBA team because it was. Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller in 08 was 6-4 and lost in the 1st round of the playoffs. Let me say this again Ohio HS football is better than most States in the union; Florida, Texas, California, and maybe a few others. But Tenn. is not there. I can say with great confidence that Ohio HS football is one of the top 5 to 7 States for HS Football and that is pretty darn good. Tenn. Maybe……..Maybe it’s in the top 15 to 18. Look at the 4 and 5 star recruits coming out of Ohio. In Tenn.,,,,,….a few a year and some years, none!! Listen I hope Gallatin goes up their and plays their hearts out and plays a good game. As far as I know McKinley has some studs returning from last years 8-4 regional runner up squad who lost to Massillon the State runner up. If Gallatin goes up there and has a good showing I’ll be happy for them. I live here now. I love HS football. But I’m also realistic. Bulldog86, I keep hearing this same song year after year when Tn teams go there and WIN. Please tell me when one of those vauted teams will come HERE and show us how 'powerful' THEY are. BTW most of the teams you mentioned are PRIVATES, so we are comparing apples to oranges somewhat. Yes, I know MBA is a private here, but when they went up there and WON they were not even the best of the privates here. Good Luck Green Wave!
  15. I’d like to congratulate Coach Al Evans and the boys Lavergne Track team for their 4th place finish at the AAA – State Championship. Also, I’d like to give a shout out to some of the top performers in the State meet from Lavergne. Lets start with Terry Hodges, winning the State Championship in the Triple jump with a huge jump of 49 feet 7 1/2 inches (2 Inches from the state record) and a 3rd place finish in the long jump. Also, a big congratulation goes out to Jarkeith Ruffin and Deon McAdoo finishing 1st and 2nd in the Discus. Lavergne “freshmen” Jarkeith Ruffin won the AAA-State Championship in the discus with a toss of 156’2 and Deon McAdoo finished 2nd with a toss of 153’0. Look for similar results for the next few years from Lavergne's throwing events!! Congrats to these young men!!!!!!!
