  1. I don't know how many times I need to say this but the Back to Back State Championships is in the past and do nothing for these Bulldogs right now. I don't think we as supporters need to focus on what has happen and worry about this Friday. That is what is important right now. I hate this because it sounds as if I??™m down playing the last 2 years??¦??¦..I am not??¦??¦I can be no prouder to call myself a Bulldog and those were great years. But they do nothing for this team and what they can accomplish IN THE NEAR FUTURE. If they go into this game thinking ???we??™re the champs and no one can take that away from us.??? It will get taken away. I don??™t think Coach Williams will let that happen. He has done a nice job keeping this team grounded this year. (The BAD start helped with that as well) I??™m sorry if this upsets any Bulldog faithful but I feel it needs to be said. Go Dogs!!!
  2. Smyrna's deal was only 1 athlete. Please don't blow it up any more then it was.

OaklandPatriot wrote: "On the flip side, I think even though Oakland is 11-1, one could argue that it is Oakland that is indeed the underdog, with the way the Bulldogs have been playing as of late. When you make it this far, all teams believe on a equal level and that goes goes the same for expecting to win. Sometimes the hunger of a challenger is greater than the intestinal fortitude of a champion, we shall see Friday night." OaklandPatriot, we disagree here on the Underdog question. Yes, Smyrna is the defending Champs but this is not the team or staff of the last 2 years for Smyrna. I don't need to tell you that. As good as they are playing; they are not the same team. With that said this Smyrna team is very good and will be a tough out. Your right about this being the playoffs and that means the teams are very good. Oakland has beaten the Dogs already and it's a home game for them. I think this give Oakland the edge, at least mentally. Will that have anything to do with the outcome of this game? I don't think so but I think it's clear who the underdogs are here.
  4. Do you really believe that? I'll give you Lipscomb but Alcoa? I think they are a team that would play with anyone in the state. Let alone belonging on the field....??¦..Small school or not...........Their talent is for real!
  5. Your darn right Smyrna is not looking past anyone. They did not get to where they are by doing that. Coach Williams has done a nice job getting his team to focus on the job at hand. I think your comment on Oakland is a bit dated, they were 1 dimensional. They have been throwing the rock a bit more lately and with some success, enough, that it will loosen up the defense. Listen Smyrna is playing very well but Oakland is a different team. They have the athletes to match up well with Smyrna. Smyrna will need to pull into Oakland with great passion and play this game hitting on all cylinders. If not we will be heading back to Smyrna hoping next year is the year.
  6. I agree.........Also I think there are two team playing in Rutherford County Friday night, which would like to get into that argument. They still have some business to handle but I think giving them ???the two best teams in the state??? title is a bit bold for right now. Brentwood fan, before you come back at me with the "we already beat Smyrna" comment. That was a very different team you beat in week 2. This Bulldog team is playing much better football right now. But we all have a few more game to worry about before that kind of conversation comes up, don't we Again, good luck to both teams.
  7. Very nice post.........hope it's a great HS football game and good luck to both squads.
  8. What is it saying? What would 11-2 say? Look, Oakland has had a nice year. But their record is not what will beat Smyrna. They will beat Smyrna by trying to move the ball on this Fast and Physical Defense. Not an easy task. Not many teams have done it with any regularity. Their have been a few big plays here or there but not many. I think the talk of this developing into a bit of a rivalry it right on. Both of these teams have very young talent. I feel the road to the State will lead threw Rutherford County and Williamson County for the next few years. (I know the games played in Rutherford county, so no bad jokes please.) The growth of these two areas is unreal and it will only make the teams in those counties teams stronger. I think Smyrna is the underdog in this one, without question. Oakland is 11-1. Also they have beaten the Bulldogs this year in a extremely tough battle. This is a Home for Oakland. BUT, I feel this Smyrna team has found their game and they are playing very well as a team right now. They will be very tough to beat. They now "BELIVE" and they are not hoping to win this game; they are going in there with the mindset that they WILL win the game. The Bulldogs have had an up and down year but..........though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending. Believe in the NOW GO DOGS!!!
  9. Wilson #13 is 51 of 104 for 430 yards - 3 td and 3 ints Freeman #14 is 7 of 19 for 64 yards - 0 td and 1 int
  10. Smyrna Has 1 Right now. Tyler Eady; I saw on Rival.com that 2 schools are on his list Vandy and Middle Tenn. St. I've also heard that he is considering Army at West Point but it was not on his list at that website. Smyrna also has a few that will get some looks for D1 AA. I think Tenn St. has their eyes on a few of them. We'll see.
  11. Maybe! Remember, there are lots of good teams out there. This is a bold statement. I think the winner makes it to the state championship game. But winning it????? Again, Maybe! Good luck to my friends in Williamson County. Should be a great night for football in Mid - TENN this Friday.
  12. Those are two very good posts with a lot of reasoning behind your ideas. I would like to rebut just a bit here. Let's not forget, while Smyrna's O has shown vast improvement. They have not faced a D like Oakland since they played them last. Let us also remember that Oakland's O has improved as well. They too have developed an effective passing game and it will loosen up Smyrna's D as well. As dominate as the Smyrna D has been, it has holes. I am very surprised that more teams have not figured it out and exploded them. I will not get into them on here but they are there. If Oakland finds those holes, it could be a long night for the Bulldogs and their supporters. With that said I think Smyrna will find a way to get things done Friday night and get another playoff win for Smyrna??™s Football program. WOW is it only Monday? Friday night can??™t come soon enough.
  13. Very nice post!!!!!! ..........way to bring it...........your best yet!!!!.......... well said.
  14. I think you felt WC had more class and from what can recall, WC was beat by Smyrna............not once.........but twice this year. Bye bye now, AllAmerican10
  15. That play? Not many........Not sure but I think it around 7 or 8 out of the 22 are Sr's. Lots of Jr??™s and sophomores. Mostly in the skilled positions.
  16. No, #5 is Bryson and Hicks is #6 (Or #7 depending on what half you watch)
  17. Yea, Bryson is the one with the wiggles. He has not been 100% those high ankle sprains are tough to get over. You know this ankle issue is still lingering from the last game with yall? His cuts and burst have not been as explosive. For anyone who has seen him play, you know that's his game. I hope its there for this weekend. I feel Smyrna will need to be hitting on all cylinders to beat Oakland. Let me tell you one thing about Mr. Hicks. He hit the holes with bad intentions. I know Oakland has a great D line and it will be tough to run right at you but when he gets the rock, I hope your hat's are strapped up tight. Man I can??™t wait and it only Sunday. I need to settle down.
  18. #5 has not played very much since we played ya'll the last time. I think the Oakland??™s staff and players know that #5 is not all they need to worry about. Smyrna has won the last 5 games with him playing very little, if any. I think you will see a little better Offence then you did in week 7. The QB play has been very solid and the O is finding a way to keep the chains moving and finding the end zone with more frequency. I know Smyrna will see a better O from Oakland as well. That is why I fell the score will be a bit higher in regulation this go around. I will not be surprised if the winner has 17 or 21 points. I know some of you say no way but. I could see it happening.
  19. There was a good view from where I was as well. #45 was going to catch him on the 45 or 50 yard line. He was pushed, in the back and knocked off balance. He regained his balance and almost caught him at the goal line anyway. "The kid getting blocked turned his back to the blocker so there was nothing the blocker could have done to avoid it!" ARE YOU KIDDING ME? What is this? WOW! It is the responsibility of a blocker not to make the block if you see their numbers on their backs. It makes no difference if he could avoid it or not. The only point proven is you??™re delusional. That point is proven!
  20. I'm not a fan of this "almost won" and "Spotted you the 2 safeties" stuff. That was a huge football game that Oakland won. Oakland was the best team on the field that night. Smyrna had their chance to pull that game out and didn't. Oakland had their chance to pull it out and they DID. All of that will have very little to do with this game, except for the film work. Smyrna has made some very nice improvements since that game. I have not seen Oakland since that game but from what I hear, they too have made some improvements. It's the playoffs and these 2 teams are here for a reason. They are darn good teams.
  21. No way! There may have been a bad call or so. If you are talking about the Block in the back........get over that........ It was
  22. It was big and it was a block in the back without question. #45 would have made the tackle after 40 or 45 yards if he wasn't blocked in the back. He almost caught him any way.
  23. WOW!!! Who wized in your Captain Crunch? What's the difference between causing trouble and "getting in trouble" or "done some stupid things". Relax.......I was saying no program is perfect and I said the issues were handle fine. I heard a few things tonight in the Woods situation and based on that knowledge, Coach Williams made a good call. I never said anyone should get kick off the team. You kind of flew of the handle here??¦??¦??¦..I was defending this program. BULL
  24. I'm not 100% sure. Maybe It would have mad it 14-9 (or 10)
