  1. Well how did they do last night?
  2. ddaddy/stat.....thanks for the info. Spivey has his bunch looking good, everything I hear on them is positive. Stat how about getting me a copy of the film, like to see some of them, Lewis has a big challenge this year no doubt about it, but there is no lack of effort from what I can see. Like they say "the deck is stacked against them this year", but this bunch will give all they have regardless of the outcome. When I seen them play Lexington, sure there were some mistakes all around, but I seen all out effort no matter what the circumstance was. I know both coaches and players are going through a learning process, but when they all play as one they should do good. Lewis won't be able to just line up and go like the past, they will have to spread it around and open it up, which last week they did open it up some......they didn't seem to spread it around as much as I thought. I still think Lewis is going to pull a few surprises this year, will they go undefeated, probably not but it won't be from lack of effort...that is a fact. Injury few year would be their best friend, not that deep in talent from what I can tell, not putting anyone down, but when first string was out or resting the talent level to the next wasn't quite up to the first string. Once again thanks for the updates.........I hope Lewis has a great year and surprises a few.
  3. I see the parasite "owcoa" returned again He has so much respect for others. He has said one truth in all his rants.......It doesn't help to play down in competition.......look what happened to Maryville last year...they played down to Alcoa and then lost the state.....finally caught up to them "playing down to little ol' Alcoa"
  4. ddaddy/stat......How they do tonight. Any surprises, anyone step up tonight. Hope there wasn't any injuries.
  5. stat/ddaddy, going to have to rely on you guys to let me know how they do this friday, can't get 2 fridays off in a row. Hope they are healing up, I know watching the game last week, both teams played hard and hit hard. I'm sure both have some that will need some healing. Hope they all get 100% before the season comes around, especially Lewis.....they don't have the depth like the bigger schools and will need the athletes healed for the season. I'll be checking Friday night and sat. morning to see how you did. GOOD LUCK!
  6. Have to agree. I was sitting with some friends (Lexington side) and had to eat some crow afterwards. From my view.....Lewis played hard, a few mistakes here and there. The first score Lewis forgot to have a safety, had only 10 players out when the catch was made in the end zone. The other score (run around the right side) corner just didn't make the play for whatever reason. Once Lewis settled down the defense did great. It was very hard hitting on both sides. I'm sure there are some sore players today. My friend (Lexington Fan) Was impressed he said. He was wondering why more didn't carry the ball...one half back on his first play made a beautiful move and cut back when there was nothing, but didn't get to see him carry only 1 or 2 more times. The full back you fellows have is a beast, and only a sophmore from what I read here...going to be something. You had some very active defensive players, 18, 26, 47, 30 and can't think of the other number.....but these players stayed in and played alot and showed alot of grit. You could tell that this was Lewis first scrimmage. My friend was surprised when I told him that this was the very first time for this whole bunch to start together, that there wasn't any spring games for them. He thought they did good. ddaddy he said he wasn't sure what type of team they were going to have this year, they lost some key players last year so they have some question to answer also. Over all when it was said and done.......thought Lewis did well. A few problems here and there.......but over all for the first time........I would have to give them a "B" considering everything. Didn't make me change my mind about making a trip to Lewis this year and catch come good football. GOOD LUCK to all the players.
  7. ddaddy.....appreciate the info. I'll pop in and out to keep up. Seen the weather not to long ago and it looked like the weather might be out early Friday morning. Sure sounds like things are on a positive note down your way. BTW...without going back through the boards on the other one.......isn't Sherman the kid that is so little that did the 300lb. bench, or is it another one in the backfiled. I talked to a friend over there occasionally and he too was saying how good things were starting to look. He told me the line was starting to look like more of a unit, both "O" and "D". Sounds like those kids have made big steps over this off season. Hope they get a chance to play Friday.....I'm going to watch the weather and hopefully I can drop down and catch some of it. Have friends over in Lexington so can support either...lol. Naw.........Lewis first.
  8. Go to Schedules here........they have it completed and posted. Whats the total number of kids out for football this summer? The head coach is class, and probably improve the numbers who want to play,
  9. ddaddy..stat/ seen the weather for the rest of this week.....rain chances through out the week. Will LCHS make a decisioin prior to Friday scrimage on Thursday or wait till Friday. Going to try and make it down to Lexington, but have to arrange to take some time off......hate taking it if they don't play. ddaddy.......looked over the past boards on Lewis and seen some of the talent in the backfield. How is the offensive backfield looking, I know its hard to get a real handle in practice, but it seems like your around them a lot and was curious about how that group will come together.
  10. That would be great! Get the monkey off their backs. Good Luck to the entire team, coachs and city.
  11. How many players does Gile, Marshall, Page and Springhill carry on their roster?
  12. Going try and make it over to Lexington and see for myself. Seen in Murphys book his picks.......Giles, Marshall and Lewis. Not to bad.
  13. Well stat.....how was the vacation? Any news down LCHS way? Do they scrimmage Lexington next week? If so I might try and sneak over there and get a peek.
  14. Good to see Lewis listed in the top 10 in the coaches poll I believe.............I think it was 7th. Not to bad for a rebuilding year.
  15. What a stroke of good luck......lol. I would say those players should be there. Bet they don't miss any now. Thats one way to get a problem solved. They appear to be a very important piece for Lewis this coming year. How is the QB health situation? Nothing serious I hope. The season will be here before you know it. If anyone has any dates on the scrimmages set for this year.....appreciate the dates.....would like to make one or all of them, Also who they will scrimage. Hated that they didn't have any this spring. I was going to come down but the weather kept washing them out. Good to hear all the pieces are still in place.
  16. Howis thing looking at EHHS? The number of players growing? Can players that played at EHHS the past couple of years go back to Hickman? Or once they started they stay unless of course the move. Hope the numbers are growing and effort is being put out for the new HC and staff.
  17. Are they deep at QB? Who is the other QB's? Hope they have some depth there. I'm sure whoever the back ups are they will be getting alot of work just in case the Health issue becomes a long term situation.
  18. They have their work cut out for them this year. You can bet they will play hard all season. Real challenge.
  19. I know they are aware of the challenges faced this upcoming year. From everything read and heard they are putting in the effort to prepare for the next level. It is certainly going to be a much harder task than they have faced in many many years. The coaches will be putting in the hard work as well as the new players coming up. They most likely won't be able to match the number of athelets from top to bottom to most of these bigger schools, but they will for sure match the effort and hard work put in. They won't fail because of lack of work. This group coming up (I got to see some film on them from the past) is a very close knit group, with attitudes of never quitting. They have lost as a group over the past 5 years, but never quit. How they will do this year......I couldn't predict, but I can predict they will be there for the entire game giving everything they have. They will play just as hard as a 10-0 team or an 0-10 team. For a school of around 550 students, they will play like the much bigger schools. The coaching is solid no doubt, the biggest question as stated is lack of experience. If they can get the confidence quick they will play like a much more experienced team. No matter what happens........Lewis will be competitive. I think Lewis can pull a few upsets this year........and on the other hand......it is possible that they could be upset........inexperience could sneak up and get them. I think Lewis might just be a surprise this year......rebuilding, lack of experience etc. but its still Lewis.....!
  20. How's the "O" and "D" line looking? Think they will be able to step up this year. Know Lewis was hit hard there also. It sounds like the backfield is there with plenty of talent. Hope the line developes in time. Who do they have schedule for summer scrimmages, and when?
  21. No worse than 2nd. So much experience returning. With the new District it should favor them. With the graduation of so many to the others...ie: Page, Hickman and Lewis and the mess over at EHHS, the district should favor them. Course you have Marshall lurking right there also.
  22. If this is true...........wouldn't he have to make the change now? Relocating etc. If it is true I would guess he would have to make the annoucement public soon......! If this is a rumor.......what a bad one. Still think Wayne will be just fine. They are loaded.
  23. This is going to be one heck of challenge for all of Lewis county football. It looks like they have the talent.....and the effort is being put out. I would guess that LCHS will open up the "T" some this year. The level of competition won't allow LCHS to just line up and run it . I would guess the coaches are excited about the challenge they face this year. I think it will be important for them to get off to a good start to build confidence in the players as a whole. The level of competition is deep. Lewis can certainly make a statement this year about their program.
  24. So how many will have Lewis out this summer? Heard you had a giant Freshman class (for lewis). Any of them going to be able to help any? Hated that you didn't get any games this spring. (I saved gas at least). Hope the kids hit it hard during the summer (they are going to need all they can get). Tough schedule coming up. DDaddy........how is the leadership and attitude looking so far? I'll pop in once in a while and see whats happen at Lewis. Good luck and work hard!
