  1. BIG SHOUT OUT! 1st class coaches.....Team.......Fans!!!!! Good luck on this years run. I know last year you lost your QB during your run......hope everyone is healthy now and fired up to make Camden a serious threat. Hope its your year.....you guys deserve it.....GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Can someone help me and tell me where I can find the latest listing of teams that of now (Top 32) are in the playoff hunt. Almost forgot in 3A. In advance......thanks
  3. Read this and wanted to add something too. I watched you played two games and those that I saw hard to believe you ended the way you did. It certainly wasn't from trying. Reading all the boards you can tell that you guys never slacked off all year. You hit the weights hard and those numbers showed. The deck kind of was stacked against you this year as far as district but you never let it get in your way from not trying every game. From what I can tell you had 2 bad halfs this year and were in every game. You took on some of the best they have been in years and played them all to the end. Don't hold you heads down, no reason to. I think the coaches got a lesson this year also, not only coaching football but the class of you guys. They will have to go some to ever find a better bunch of kids that this........from top to bottom.....1st class! I know the fans that hung with you through the season don't think anything less of this group than any other, in fact might appreciate you more than others in the past. You had no gimmies, so to speak, but you fought everyone all out and I'm sure if you asked they all would gave you a nod and a hand shake for the effort you showed them.
  4. Stat...any updates on #22 condition? Looked bad when it happened, I thought for sure he had broken his arm. I'm guessing since he was able to hang in and finish the game (the kid's a warrior) that he must have hyper-extended his elbow. Hope it's minor whatever it is...don't know many players that would have toughed that one out, last game or not. Looks like Lewis Co will be back to the team of old next year...too much talent on this squad to stay down for long. Good luck to you guys next season and maybe we can run into you guys again same time next year. Thanks for asking. I talked to his family and they said he was doing better. He has some weakness in his hand, and closing it was still a problem but its improving every hr. It seems to be a nerve in the elbow, but if it doesn't come completely back or show positive signs of improvement they were going to have it checked out to be sure nothing was wrong. He was a senior so it was his last game, so I'm sure nothing short of a leg missing he was going to sit out. His family told me how great your staff was and also coaches and fans coming up during half time and at the end of the game asking about him, and they really appreciated it. After talking to some of the people that was at the game.....I have to agree with stat......you guys are first class...from the players, coaches and the fans. I'll pass it along to stat and the family about you asking and your nice comments for the young man. Good luck on your run.
  5. Interesting. What a big change from what has Lewis faced in the past. I can see now why people are standing up for this years group. They have played a tougher schedule than any former teams have, and done it with not much experience. Next year Lewis should be back to their winning record. All I have read this is the year for a lot of teams Lewis has faced. So they will have some drop off and Lewis will have players with experience. Go on and predict next year.....9-1 to 7-3 being the worst. Good luck this Week!
  6. And to all of you on this page........BIG UP!
  7. Good Luck Lewis! How healthy is Lewis.....been reading on here it sure sounds like they are banged up. Hated to hear about your number 4 out, he was a real hitter. Also heard 13 is out for the season.....both of these are seniors.....what a shame for it to happen in their senior years. Good Luck.......I have a friend going to the game so I'll be able to get some updates. Going to be a tough one.....but I think Lewis has the horses and belief that they can get the job done.
  8. This has the makings of one great game. Haven't seen perry play in person but have friends in Perry that are excited about this game. I have seen Wayne play twice.....very impressive. I know their QB is the chatter about Wayne, but when I seen them play it was their backfield that caught my eye. With the threat they have there it makes the QB play much easier. I think the one kids name...correct me if I'm wrong..Warren, he runs as hard as any I have seen. The other back..number 5 I think, not sure.....very patient runner and has a quick burst. Like I said.....haven't seen Perry play...so can't give a real guess on them, but Wayne home, Senior night.....and the perfect season........have to go with wayne. Just hope its a good game like everyone thinks. Good Luck to both teams!
  9. Congrads to Giles. I know you Lost Lewis but one great effort..I know effort don't count for much when you lose.....but you did put it all out there. A big Ups to the Lewis corner.......You shut down one awesome receiver......3rd in total yds listed in the Tennessean and 1st in yds. per catch avg. of 27.0.....I think thats right......31 for 837 yds. Number 25 great hustle. Play like this the rest of the season.....and could surprise quite a few teams in the playoffs. You played the best and gave it your best...do that every game from here on out and you will surprise many others. Giles.......take it all the way......awesome balance, a couple of great backs. District 12 still might have some surprises for the rest in the playoffs.
  10. ddaddy....question for you. I heard through the grapevine that you have lost another player due to injury......a corner/kicker......is that true. I know you lost a couple to head injuries also.....I believe they said Linebackers. Any info. you have would be appreciated. I have some friends over that way that sons play for Lewis, so follow Lewis closely. I sure hate to hear it for Lewis, but will say...wow do your players play hard, seen some film on them......they do make the games exciting to watch. You guys have been in every game with just a play here or there that would have changed the outcome. In advance.......thanks for the information.
  11. What team do you support? You are right in one point.....they do have a strong punting game.
  12. This game should have a championship feel about it. Bragging rights for the year. Good luck to both......tough one to call. If I was forced to making a decision, I guess I would lean towards Hickman........because of home. Good luck to both!
  13. I haven't heard that, but I will tell you this, Coach Trey Graves is the best thing that has happened to Waverly Central football for a long time. He is a very good coach and even better person who genuinely cares about the kids and teaches them not only football, but about life. If these fans are so concerned about winning games then they would show up and support these kids and they would do more to encourage the kids who aren't playing to play. We have the talent in Waverly, but too many kids wanting to play nintendo or Xbox. How sad. My hat is off to the kids who get out and practice hard each day and play hard to represent their school. Thank you Coach Graves for being a great person and coach who helps them do that. Great Post papa.........very well said. True in a lot of schools. 10-0 or 0-10 team, I give the credit to the kids that do put in the effort and try. To many are into videos etc. You know alot of those kids could play and be good at it....but it would take away the time from all of the distraction. Any young man that plays they game I give them all the credit......much better prepared for life in a sport than a video game........sports teaches so much more...winning and losing is a life experience that is invaluable.
  14. You people are amazing. This was a conversation.....this isn't what the coaches are doing......get real. I understand the logic, and I understand the players wanting to play.....especially on senior night. Maybe they will play their best until Giles starts scoring big.......and then they could pull out the starters. No one said they are doing it.........be real. I know Giles wants to keep their streak going of 40 points in a half against all of these schools......which they would either way, but...........does it matter in the big picture.......I don't think so. I'm sure Lewis will start their starters.......but after that.....whats to prove...except for Giles to feel good about beating their starters instead of 2nd. But......one fact remains....Lewis can't afford to lose anymore starters...period. They are thin as it is. Giles is the better team.....period. They will win regardless who is in the game for Lewis. Depth is something they can't overcome.......that is the real world.
  15. Excuses? Logic......might fit better. Lewis has lost some key players...game changing ones. They can't afford to lose anymore with the playoffs in front of them. I'm not a coach or anything to Lewis. Just that my discussion with one of their fans did make sense. What good does it do to play a team with so many players......enough for D and O and special teams......the odds are they will lose anyway.......why lose a player proving absolutely nothing. I have seen how Giles has gone through all the smaller schools, why would this be any different. Much better for Lewis to be able to give it the best shot in the playoffs (one and done or two...it doesn't matter...still to make the playoffs first). Lewis has had a much tougher schedule this year than in the years passed, which according to critics was their problem. That won't be a problem this year. Yes Giles will win......but does it help them either way......with all the starters playing or not. Hope this doesn't hurt Giles in the playoffs...nothing taken away from Giles season..but playing down so much can't help.
  16. Probably not. I was talking to a friend of mine over in Lewis and he said something at first that stunned me, then after talking a while it made sense. First of all Giles is now playing the smallest school in this District. This game means more to Giles than to Lewis, Giles wants to finish undefeated in the district and thats about the only motivation left for them till the playoffs. As far as Lewis this game means absolutely nothing, except its senior night. I agree with my friend I wouldn't worry much about the game, I would worry more about the next two after this because that is the playoffs for the sub schools in this district. They win out...the would finish first in that class. If I was Lewis I would worry about injuries to any key players more than score going into the last two games. They have lost to many players already to injury and couldn't afford any others. Glad to hear Fairview set out some of theirs......smart on their part as they realize the last games are the important ones. As far as this one goes......Giles should win easily, just a shame its senior night, but if Lewis gets in the playoffs......it really won't matter. Good luck to Lewis and Giles......Lewis injury free and Gile undefeated in district! Both need to get ready for playoffs!!!
  17. I respectfully correct your inaccurate stats and believe that the true stats show that we are spreading it around. We have 1 back (our best by far) who has carried the ball 36% of the time and another who has 29% of the carries and the other halfback position (2 backs) have 30% of the carries. The percentage of rushing yards for those same three backs or positions are 39% (452 yds), 33% (377 yds)and 25% (295 yds)of the total rushing yardage for the year. We have averaged 9 pass attempts per game and only completed 31.37% of those attempts which might explain why we are not throwing the ball more. Mikal has caught most of those completions and when he is on is the only true receiver that we have. I love Couch and consider him to be one of our best all around players, but he catches like his hands are on backwards. With this in mind it appears that we are firing all the guns that we have on a fairly equal rotation. Here are stats I got from Lewis. Back 1 93 carries/ 444 yds 4.77ypc approx. 70 yds. from fake punts. So from line of scrimmage......91 carries for 374 and a avg. 4.1 Back 2 40 carries/ 176 yds. 4.4 Back 3 37 carries/ 119 yds 3.2 Fullback 74 carries/ 378 yds. 5,1 As you can see...back 1 has the majority. What my point is.......spread it around more. As I seen in the stats last game.....one back 4 carries, the other 2 and the other 16.....Not balanced. As far as he being the best back "by far" remains to be seen. The others haven't gotten the chances.....so you will never know. By far the favorite to go to maybe......being being the best, can't fairly judge the others. When I seen the film......blocking by some backs was awful......more of an excuse me block not locking up and driving them out of the play. Just to clarify......I meant backs......not fullback. He is a beast......can't do anything but get better the next few years. I can't speak about the young mans hands, haven't seen him play. Great post and made your point. I understand they did spread it around more this past friday and got great results......Good for Lewis...They need to get "ALL" backs involved...Don't know what the "Best by far" is based on. I would say though that with more balance they would have better results. The numbers don't lie.......one can't carry it.....proof in offensive output. Good luck the rest of the way.
  18. Congrads to Lewis, especially winning your homecomng game. Heard you have a few banged up again......sorry to hear. You guys have lost to many already, and some that you have starting heard they are playing injured. Maybe you week off will give some time to heal up......tough one ahead, going to need all you can get. Once again congrads and good luck.
  19. Anyone know where you could find stats on this game. Unable to find any on The Tennessean. Curious.Appreciate any help......thanks
  20. Just received the film......or scene by e-mail. That IS THE WORST CALL I have ever seen. Their is no reason at all for that to have happened. Really hate it for you guys.....A for real game changer. Why didn't they at least give the ball to them at the 43 or where is was caught. It was a TD. Lost by them. I would say TSSAA/ OFFICIALS both should step up on this one. Absolutely the worst I have seen. No questions here.....no bobble or did it touch the ground etc. Would have been up by 7 right there, instead they get it back and get to score.....sad for the players. It makes it a tainted victory, and disappointment for the DB that was alert and did his job......He was gone. Just a cryin' shame that this happened!!
  21. I have no dog in this......But wanted to comment on what a great game this was to watch. This is one of those games you hate to see anyone lose, but wanted to say that the players played with exceptional class during the whole game. I watched players helping each other up from both sides. There was no one acting like the game was about them.....no chest thumping etc. Both teams showed so much class......good lesson for others to learn from....Sportmanship...just plain nice to see. I hated to see it end with questions.....but it doesn't take away from the game the players play. I know the debate will go on about the ending.....but don't let it take away from the class these two teams showed!
  22. Curious.....who do you think the sloppy conditions will help/or hurt more?
  23. I just can't see anyway Hickman can score 42 on Giles. Also don't think Hickman could score 28 on Giles. This one could get ugly very fast.
  24. How they looking this week? Rain I guess is making it difficult. Everyone healing up ? How about he Graham kid.......any news on him. What a bad break for the team......but more important this young man. He is just pure class in every aspect of life. Any changes in Safety yet.......are they working with him hard? Experience is a great teacher! Good luck to all the players! A few of us were sitting around discussing Lewis and how much some people are enjoying the down the team is going through. We all agree though that if Lewis was to finish off the season 5-5 or even 4-6 that the coaches would have probably done their best coaching job in years and have more pride in this group than so many years of the gimmes win. Will say a lot for the coaches and the players. Every week was a battle. We all are pulling for you guys. Making the playoffs would make this a very special year. The fans need to support this team. They use to come out and see how bad they were going to beat someone, this year they should come out and support the team to help them to a win. These are games you just can't tell the outcome until it is finished. Again Good luck!!!
  25. Wow how things have changed with your opinion of LCHS. I was reading the Lewis post on 9/07/09 when you blasted this years team with various comments IE: "Lack of Discipline", "Bad Attitudes", "No Fight", No Hard Hitting" and Lack of Effort. Good to see you think they have a chance now. This group is every bit as good as any, They are young no doubt about that.......but none of that is lacking. If they lose you won't see any of that.....they will give all they have and just lost to a better team. Hope the weather cooperates this coming friday..with as much rain even the best fields are going to have trouble getting rid of all the water. Wayne should win this game, but I think it will be more competitive than a lot think. I still think Wayne has a chance to make a run this year. Lewis just give it your all. GOOD LUCK and keep the snorkle handy!
