  1. I believe TSSAA is working towards seeding and using season results for state qualifiers. Everyone doesn't post results to track and next year will be required to be seeded for regionals. I believe it is moving in that direction. Also my understanding is you are only seeded if you are a previous medalist and region champion. This is flawed because some regions have multiple placers at the same weight class. Also regions are separated into quarters meaning they will meet in the quarterfinals if all that qualified advance that far in the championship bracket. Each Quarter will have two 1st, 2nd,3rd,and 4th placers. Paired 1and4 2and3 or could be 2and2 or 3and3 depending on the requirements of region separation and available placers. I'm not aware of allowing alternates, currently.
  2. After match and results I have seen changes made twice, one a dual and another invitational. My wrestler had committed one to many technical violations and should have been disqualified and was. The match was already over and was addressed before the next round. The other was at Slamfest last year, when Arlington and Overton faced each other. The match was over, but an argument for an unsportsmanlike conduct was granted after the match. The incident happened during the match and wasn't called by the official originally. ( Now the new rule allows officials to call it even if the official isn't over that match ) Those are two accounts of changes being made after a match, which effected the advancement.
  3. My opinion is that it was brought to the administration and correct channels before the proceeding dual took place. Should result in a correction. The actual response and lack of punishment, to my knowledge, means you can wrestle individuals that aren't eligible and possibly not whom they say they are and win, as long as, you complete the match before being caught. Awkward dialogue: Yes, you caught an error and should have won, but it's too late. We know you wrestled an ineligible player, but you still win. That's my opinion on the ruling and situation.
  4. I would like to make the wrestling community aware of a particular female wrestler. Some of you might know her most do not, but if you have seen her wrestle then you definitely know her. She has elected to wrestle males her freshman and now sophomore year. Wrestles at 106, 14 total wins and 6 are over males. She placed 3rd at JV Grand Championship. She placed 2nd at Indy losing to Brock 113, 1st at West Creek. Given the rules she cannot compete in regionals for girls state. This female is Halla Woodson and she wrestles for the Cougars of Dickson County High School. I haven't seen those 105's wrestle, but just ask Brock if she can. Looking forward to seeing her name at the top for the next two years.
  5. If the girl is worried about her weight being known that is just self-esteem issues. Sounds like a guy complaining about the singlet or wrestlers being homo-sexual. This is something they immediately get over once they try the sport. I will gladly let my daughter wrestle and hope she wants to. She is only 18 months old and I know she would give other girls heck. I can't wait to see if this is a sport she will enjoy.
  6. During the match Nick White was actually hit with locking hands while on top.
  7. I had to stay and wait for the Outstanding Wrestler award because I too watched Carreathers matches. Sometimes shortest time on the mat will not be the criteria used. It would be nice to know ahead of time so they don't just pick. Having like some tournaments do could be considered. Lower weight OW, Middle weight OW, Heavy weight OW, and then the best of the OW. I do agree he had no competition and would have loved to see all DII battle through the DI brackets. He still would be at the top, but would be nice to see who wants it more.
  8. The third call is the only confusing call to me because it is supposed to be grabbing the singlet. The rest of the calls are understandable. It is obvious that Ofori stays on the head and pulls down. His hands slide off or are trying to slide off after he continues to grasp. As mentioned before he has wrestled like this all year. It is definitely one of the worse ways to lose and worse ways to win. I would guarantee if even two of those calls were incorrect ( that is not the case, but you could bargain for one ) it would have happened two more times during the remainder of the match. He has practiced and wrestled this same way apparently without being hit with similar calls. You have to want wrist control after the first two calls, but he keeps going for the head. Let it go and learn from it.
  9. I did not have anyone to weigh in on the third day. I guess they gave in.
  10. Actually I haven't heard of any accidents. Kind of itchy and I was disappointed by the selection: only one color, no limited BCB edition, no scratch and sniff, and no glow in the dark. I was really hoping for something a little more interesting. It was kind of funny that they wouldn't let DI weigh until they had their wristband on and on the 2nd day of weigh-ins DI & DII weigh in together. They announced DII did not have to wear the wristband while weighing in. I guess a parent with some leverage made a comment.
  11. First I would like to state that Tim Able is one of the best officials. He is verbal to both wrestlers making them aware of the situation ( warning ). Letting them know they need to work before stalling is called. He is not afraid to make the correct call regardless of situation. All refs make mistakes. These calls were not mistakes. If any official should be blamed it would be the officials that didn't make similar calls against Ofori throughout the season. He has constantly forced opponents out of bounds, grabbed headgear, and has had hands to the face. Had this been brought to his attention and the coaches noticed this could have been avoided. Ofori is a good wrestler, but Nick White is the better wrestler. I believe the calls were correct and I am not sure if others have mentioned it, but they had two officials for the matches and the 2nd official was responsible for one of the calls. If one of the calls wasn't made I believe it would have happened again. There was plenty of time left and that is just how he wrestles. Nick Whites headgear was not loose (Hanging off head, prob looser than before he had cauliflower ear because he had something to protect the ear underneath the headgear) The calls were correct ( I seen White head twist several times ) I haven't heard how the next match was officiated. I think the official was trying to make up for Cleveland being upset. Hit Halls twice for stalling , the 2nd call was very quick. Again the right guy won. Got to love KARMA
  12. As far as upsets, I am not going to name any names, but anyone from Dickson County should not be overlooked.
  13. I see Hunter Allen upsetting Leonard and taking it all. I watched him wrestle Peters at State Duals. If we had been at state Allen wins by working moves and Peters losses by stalling.
  14. I see where Johnny Kleinart did not qualify does anyone know what happened there.
  15. If he makes it to the quarters and losses, his opponent is in the semi finals. This means your guy is in the consolations and has to face the opponents of the opponent that beat you in the quarters. If you make it to the Semis you will automatically place.
