So after you approached me at the end of our May BHS booster meeting, saying you were "back" and willing to help in any way, you get on here and say that, mention me by name and my "idiotic comments". Thats really odd, Chris. Its good to know though. I just have a question. What have I done to coach Shadowens, besides not trying to get him reinstated and boot Justus, following his resignation? Did you read that last phrase? He resigned. And Dr. Justus has been nothing but professional. The media has been careful to be very favorable toward Shadowens. I've taken those shots. Kreager has reported responsibly in the DNJ what has been reported to him by school board, sheriff, etc. Maybe you'd be happier in east TN. The leaves are beautiful in October, media reporting is apparantly to your liking, and your favorite coach is just minutes away. You should look into that.

Watson will do very well. He's ready and able to lead, and talent is not an issue.

Notice the username, unlike the ones so brave. Haven't been on coacht in years but I got word of two guys calling out my kid and wife so at least I had to say hi. Very interesting thread, and I think there's another one I need to check out too. This is great, let me get my popcorn....

no panic or flinching @ BHS over Siegel loss. been here done this last season after 3 weeks. the challenge is for the upper classman to take full ownership of the team and season, and be determined to not waste a single practice to improve. this is as good a staff as can be found and Shadowens will draw all out of this team that can be drawn. look for a convincing win Fri.

he's the right age for a junior...don't know exact b'day...16 turning 17 ...and watch for little brother, #5...not quite as big but similar build with great feet. will play some corner and maybe some tailback...very aggressive too. very thankful to have the Mathers family at BHS

My dad played with Bill @ Memphis State (then) in the early 60s and we used to see Ross (UTM), Todd (UTM - passed away), and John (Auburn) each summer growing up. I'm curious. Anybody know? ...oh, yeah, the game... Riverdale just beat us...no excuses here. We made way too many mistakes and Riverdale played a pretty clean game...actually really clean compared to Blackman. penalties..snap over the punter's head..interceptions..fumbles, especially on 2nd half kickoff following our TD ending the 1st half..a couple of defensive busts and missed tackles at the wrong time..you can't win at this level at this time of year with that And Riverdale did a nice job of game planning with a few tweeks from week 10...nice job of executing the passing game...that killed us by keeping drives alive...and they'd line up strong one way, then trade the TE and motion to the TE, and then run their offense to the new strong side...better matchups for Riverdale, and crucial to their success tonight. Riverdale is not what I'd consider great at anything, but real good at about everything...no glaring weaknesses. On the other hand, our weak spots kinda got exposed...but that's okay...it's one game and we're headed in the right direction.

Dang guys, give me a break with takin' shots at the kids..."classless"..."thugs"...? I've been involved in and watched a lot of football in my life and that was a well played game by the kids overall. There was a lot of emotion out there tonight and sometimes it spills out in a way that is regretable. The hit by 22 on 3 was a good hit...NOT "helmet to helmet" as one said. I got it on video. I thought it was borderline taunting. I wouldn't have disagreed had it been called and I didn't complain when it wasn't. I think the reason it wasn't is because 22 didn't do the taunting "over" 3...know what I mean? Collier scrambled and threw it late over the middle...I'd have laid him out too...that's the game. As far as "classless" and "thugs", that's just plain wrong, and frankly sounds like a remark made by a kid. My son, #10 BHS commented to me after the week 10 game that the Riverdale kids are the most respectful and hard playing players in the county, in his opinion. That's a reflection on Coach A and I congratulated him on the win and told him about that after the game. Coach A was very polite and I regard him as an elite high school coach, as I do Coach Shadowens. Blackman had an awesome year. We are thrilled with the progress and excited about our future. I couldn't ask for my son to have a better high school football experience than he's had in the past month. So congratulations to Riverdale for an impressive win...period. We'll cheer on the county and other mid-state teams for as long as they win, and expect to see the 2009 gold ball remain in Rutherford County. We'll lay down and rest for a while, then get up and start preparing for 2010. See ya'll next year.

searching for words to respond to this............ what are YOU doing, making an insulting comment toward OUR administration, while YOUR team is hours away from playing in the state championship game ? you have too much time on your hands, dude..........get a life plenty of constructive and interesting ways to participate in the conversation without insulting those you know nothing about......and I know YOU know nothing about what's going on at Blackman because those "close" to the program don't even have all the facts Mrs Vick and Mr Lawless have conducted an extensive search and have received close to 50 applications from coaches in several states.....they've interviewed probably a dozen or more no situation is perfect but we have a great opportunity at Blackman to take the next step in the football program and we will we have a great group of players and parents ready to support the next guy, whoever that is and we have confidence in Mrs Vick, who will make the final decision, to choose that person don't worry about us, patriot, go to the championship game, WIN IT (and I mean that) and we'll see ya'll next year on the field

My picking Blackman had nothing to do with who was favored to win - it had to do with who I thought would win - my picking Blackman didn't make Oakland the underdog, it was just one guys opinion.........and everybody has one, I know Having said that, and having seen the game, I'll say that the there's not much difference between the two teams - in my opinion there's not much difference between the top 7 teams in the region - LaVergne's just too young I will give it to Oakland that they are winners - their record speaks for itself and I hope Oakland wins the state championship My point is that if you look at who beat who, and the margin of victory, it's hard to make sense of it other than to say that the talent is spread pretty evenly throughout the region - and there are no dominant coaches either - good but I wouldn't say dominant like Rankin was (I know......"he had all the talent".......well, he knew what to do with it) I thought two of the best coaching jobs in the region this year were done at LaVergne and at Lebenon - we played LV game 1 and Hester did a great job of keeping his guys in that game despite the youth.......I'm talking multiple freshmen - and they remained competitive throughout the year if my memory serves me - and we saw Lebanon game 9..........they came onto the field and I said to a friend "where are the rest of them?" - that was it - I thought we should blow them out by 40 - and we jumped out by 21 in the 2nd - of course they hung around....I can't go there. good luck to all 4 teams - we are pulling for all of you and congratulations to Coach Williams at Smyrna - great job

FACTS - NO OPINION - NO EMMOTION (well, maybe a little) Blackman offense vs 4 region opponents so far (LaV, R'dale, Smy, WC) avg. rush yds/gm 129.75 avg. pass yds/gm 32.75 total turnovers 9 total off. pts. 9 (not avg - TOTAL) PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT

nice game WC - coaches and players prepared and took advantage of what Blackman gave you scheme-wise and by mistakes - that's about what I expected - solid team - you have to earn what you get when you play a team like WC - quite a few very good football players - non "great" IMO but great role and team players in the right positions and in the right place within the play - good luck WC rest of the way wow - where do I start with MY team? - good overall effort by the kids . . . again - as a team you guys come with effort every Friday night - I think that the kids on the teams you have played would say that, too defense kept us in the game . . . again - guys flew around to the ball pretty well - it's tough to be consistent as a player with that (effort, concentration, etc.) when you continue to get no "run support" (for you MLB followers) - like PBD said, Overton was terrible, maybe the worst team I've seen Blackman play in the 3 years I've been watching - so don't throw in the "run support" we got there (BHS defenders - if you're out there) to make a case for the offense doing its part our offense is just plain bad - what offense do we run? - what is our identity as an offense? - what are our strengths personnel-wise? - what is our philosophy as an offense? - too deep-a-questions? - yeah, I thought so we have the talent to be a very good offense - we had the talent earlier to play with anybody in the state and be successful - I am so tired of EXCUSES and BLAMING THE KIDS (not referring to comments on here!) - I understand that the kids have to be accountable for their responsibility within the game, which is one of the most powerful TEACHING tools available to coaches in this great game - but it's the same song different verse - same game different kids keep working hard Blackman players - we are proud of you and love you and will be there for you to the end.

yeah, that's been my hunch - well, Siegel and Oakland figured out how to beat them, hopefully we can - I know we have that potential - I'm not as concerned about our defense as I am about our offense needing to score some points like Siegel's and Oakland's did - I think we need at least 2 td's from our offense and maybe another couple of field goals or a kick return or something - won't be long now - counting the hours

somebody tell me more about the WC qb - ht. wt. etc. - potential for college? - what level? - passer vs. runner - what grade is he in? thanks

If I was wrong about the sequence of scoring I stand corrected - I wasn't there - just checked the box score on a stats web site and that's the order of scoring that they portrayed - my main point was the close score - obviously a very close game second, I haven't seen him play but I saw what the qb accomplished in those two games I referred to - I do not assume anything about WC except that they are probably a handful of plays away from being 5-0 - of course that type scenario is true year in and year out in this region with the competition the way it is - that's why you play the game finally, I also believe that Blackman can get it done - it will take their best game of the year, but they have the players to do it - we do respect WC at Blackman, no doubt
