  1. Here is a little trivia...anyone know who was flirting with Greeneville about taking over as head coach last spring? It's all really just here-say, but it still adds a little extra interest to this match-up.
  2. I'm just excited about seeing a good football game in person this year, LoL. I've been to watch the VOLS, but we all know that story, and I'm not sure that Detroit will be televised for their annual Thanksgiving game on account that they are TERRIBLE. I'm looking foward to it; should be one for the ages.
  3. Nah...he's just an old fogie. I can take him, haha. He likes to think that he knows wrestling, none of just have the heart to tell him that he's clueless. LoL
  4. I feel like we take a pretty good crowd on the road with us, but you have to understand that I'm a wrestler so I've become accustomed to having hardly anyone in the gym for matches therefore my opinion on this issue has become kind of warped. I think the fall out of 04'-06' had alot to do with it. In the one game I was able to come to this year though I was kind of disappointed with the fans that showed up against Mercer County; it was raining pretty good though. I don't think there will be any shortage next week...that you can count on.
  5. Didn't mean to be harsh...I just don't want us to start sounding like the percentage of D-B and a few TN High fans who post on here. Woops! that wasn't very nice was it?LoL. Guess I should probably take my own advice. Ya know...this isn't nearly as much fun without Cap to bicker with
  6. Well gee thanks Coach, LoL. And as for you jones77...no one likes an a poor loser, but I'm not so sure that a poor winner isn't worse. Stop making yourself and the rest of us look like arrogant fools.
  7. I need to talk to you Mr.noonesfool sir...lol. Nothing imminent, I'll catch you next Saturady at the Turkey Day Rumble.
  8. There is so much to say, but at the same time I'm speechless. I'm so proud of the Devils, and I can't wait to catch the game next week when I'm home to eat turkey /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> I'm sure Burley is going to be packed with fans from all across the region; it will be a great atmosphere. Just think...a couple years ago we were a losing team, the talent was there afterall just as we had all expected. Thanks Coach McCurry and staff for giving us the guidance, leadership, and having the faith and patience in us to turn things around. And etfan...who exactlly are you a fan of? It sounds to me like you just hate the world for the most part and everyone in it. If you want you can come eat Thanksgiving dinner at my house. I promise we'll make you feel like family; hey! you may even smile. Who knows...we might even get you to laugh. Cheer up man...its the holidays. Eat some turkey and mashed taters on Thursday, watch a little Pro ball and take a nap, then come down and enjoy the game on Friday. If you hunt me down I'll even buy you a cheeseburger
  9. Listen...I already plan on tossing you out (and your ugly assistant coach from Greeneville too) so your not helping your case here, LoL. I'm gona be with Coach Foreman in Pigeon Forge tomorrow though, but I will hopefully be working the Turkey Day Rumble if you want to come down and give me a hard time then, haha. And yes Jakesdad thats right...I'm officiating now, lol. To everyones despair it looks as though I will still be on the mats for a little while; just changing uniforms. School is going pretty good, can't say the same for football unfortunately, but that is a whole other story. I talked to Jake the other day, I do laundry with a girly he went to school with actually.
  10. Jacob is like the "Where's Waldo?" of Region 1. He pops up out of nowhere...all the time!!!
  11. Agreed...Barb if only you were my age, haha. We could spend the weekends wasting away in a football oasis, LoL. So how is the Halloween party in Washington County going?
  12. I said nothing about your constitutional rights. I understand your remorce for him, but what are you hoping to accomplish by circulating this story even more so than it already is? And yes...I am that same Charlie Arrington, and I don't know about you, but I was taught that an introduction was appropriate before making any type of comment directed towards another persons mother; regaurdless of it's intentions. I respect your views on the matter, especially with the experience you have at all levels of the game, but I think if you were a little less ebrassive with your posts you wouldn't be met with as much hostility: just my opinion though. I appreciate your sympathy along with the rest of Jordan's friends and family as well as the rest of the occupants of our little "fish-bowl". LoL
  13. This topic has already been ignited and extinguished within another thread. No offense intended, but if you really care about Jordan you'll pull the plug on this topic and let it be. Your intentions may be good, but this is just going to provide an opportunity for bottom feeders to boost themselves up by tearing down another human being.
  14. Ryno is too mean to be Yoshi...LoL /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I think he would look good in spikes,LoL.
  15. Well said...I guess I'm so avid about it because I've been in his shoes before, and I know how miserable feeling helpless can be; especially when it is coupled with loneliness. My thoughts are with his Daddy as well. But as for trick or treating?!? Seriously?! C'mon...if games can be moved around teacher in service days then how can we not make an acception for Halloween? I mean I already bought my costume and everything. I guess I'll have to wear it to the game. I'm gona be Mario and my girlfriend is going to be the Princess. I'm trying to talk RyanD22 into being Bowser. What do you guys think? LoL
  16. This move is not all about football...by any means.
  17. I am by no means trying to excuse his actions. I am just as disappointed as everyone else who is close to him. Your statement of me ending up in a jail cell or even possibly losing my life is a little out of line. It is possible to stand beside someone and still be able to step away when you know disaster is inevitable. I can offer my help, but that is all. Put yourself in his shoes. How would you feel at 18 and everyone had abondon you when you needed them the most? This story is alot like the poem "Footprints in the Sand" in a way, or maybe thats just a productive way of looking at it. But I believe you have misconstrued my statement of him coming to Knoxville if I needed him to. I am a student at Tennessee and I have family up here as well. I was referring to him coming to my side in case of a trajedy just as I have for him during his hard times. I wasnt implimenting any kind mischief as you seem to have thought that I was. I was putting his compassion and loyalty on display. I can see where the opinions of special treatment, needing to focus on getting his life straightend out therefore sports should be the last of his concerns, and whether or not he would have even been given these chances if he wasnt such a standout athlete branch from. Regaurdless...this is what he makes of it, he can learn from it and grow as a person or just stand by and allow it to become another chapter in his trajedy filled saga. It's hard to cast a friend away, I understand your stance Gdevil, but try to understand mine. If those who try to straighten him out are insulted around every turn then they will disappear more so than they already are at this stage of the game. All I can offer from a few counties over is my support. I'm not making excuses, but I do feel sorry for Jordan, and regret that he has put himself in this situation. Not only as a friend, but as a team-mate, fan, and most importantly as a human being. I agree with Lefty and bballfan thought...silence is what is going to do him the most good. The more attention we draw to him the more he is going to be placed under the microscope of society. I'm sorry for even bringing it up again but I felt a response was needed to further explain to Gdevil...sorry again.
  18. The move down is not all about football. It effects all the sports teams as GHS, I quote FIG42 in that the Devils matmen could have brought home atleast two team state titles from 04'-08' if not four in the small school division. Playing up is admirable and comendable, but when you advance far enough and are eventually competeing against schools who double your size there is a point where you have to take a step back and make the sensible, and obvious choice for any school who has not had the success that we have had as a school, not just football. I listened to my peers gripe about "fooball gets all the attention...they get specail treatment, favortism, favortism, favortism" for four years. This move is selfess in regaurds to the football program, and cutting down our coaches is not going to achieve anything. Be supportive...I assure you that we will schedule a high level of competition for our out of conference games in order to keep our boys, and girls for that matter, fine tuned for when it really counts...the postseason. Iron sharpens iron...we will have no problem attracting great competition from around the area. Good programs with good coaches share this philosophy, if playing at a lower classification lowers your level of play then why is Alcoa the most formitable opponent to Maryville year in and year out? Keep the faith...nothing has ever gotten accomplished with a pestimistic attitude.
  19. I have stuck by Jordan through thick and thin and I must admit that at times he has made me look like a fool for doing so, but I'm not going to change my stance now. I have never quit anything in my life and I'm not going to start now by bailing on a beloved friend when he needs those who love and care about him the most. Jordan has been through more in the past four years than most people will ever encounter in a lifetime. I believe that all things happen for a reason and that some of the best lessons in life are learned hardest. I'm not sure that lessons have been learned in all of the obstacles he has encountered in his recent years and in my eyes that is the true mistake. BUT...I have been no angel during my teenage years either, and have also experienced a run in with the law that occoured on school grounds in which I was involved in an altercation with another student and it wound up being pretty publicized. The point of this is that I know what it feels like to be in Jordan's shoes, and I also know that you cant believe everything that you read in the paper and you definately cant believe everything that you hear. It's a small town and details are easily added and lost in translation. My foul up was near the end of the of football season, and I know the only thing that kept my sanity was training for the upcoming wrestling season. Without sports I dont know what I would have done to distract myself from the hardship that I brought upon my family and team-mates. What I'm trying to say is...why take his obvious passion away? It's obvious that having free time on his hands is the last thing Jordan needs, or any teenage boy for that matter. Jordan needs football more than football needs Jordan. Whether he gets to play or not is up to the coaching staff, but should he practice, travel, and dress out with the team...in my opinion yes, for his own good, and to keep him in shape for baseball season (hopefully). And for anyone questioning Jordan's character; he has one of the biggest hearts a person could ask for. His compassion and care for his family and friends is unmatched. His character is not what is under question, it is his decision making capabilities. So do not mistake that onlookers by bashing a youngman who is struggling to cope with many hardships that he has encountered during his short life. For many this may be the last straw for Jordan, not for me though. I know that if I called him to drive to Knoxville right now he would be on his way, just as I would be for him. I'm not giving up on you Jordan...and I hope that others are not afraid to make a stand for him as well. I'd hope that my friends and team-mates would back me if I was in his shoes and I'm sure that he feels the same so that is just what I'm going to do. By the way...if anyone has anything derogatory to say please have enough courage to put your name beside it.
  20. Are you really as ignorant as you sound? Or is it stupidity? Or do you even know the difference?
  21. Yea...McKinney did give us alot of problems last year /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> , 4.3 speed?!? Wow...I did not realize that we had another D-1 prospect being cultivated in Morristown along with Mr. Knight this year. I can't believe that we have not all heard of him by now. You say that Greeneville's wideouts are not capable of out-running the Trojan secondary? Well that may very well be true, but what about breaking their tackles, out smarting them with crisp routes, and the ever important ingredient...heart? I love the GHS vs MWHS rivalry, and arrogance and disrespect displayed by such people as yourself is what makes a victory over West that much more enjoyable. I'm not saying that the Devils will come out on top, but I will give credit where credit is due. Get comfortable in Burke-Toney tonight folks, because the playoff picture is about to unfold.
  22. I'm just thrilled to see Greeneville in this position. At the start of the season there were doubters left and right, and some even from within. Several young players have stepped up on the defensive side of the ball, in particular the D-Line, and fought through some tough criticism along with their big ugly counterparts on the offensive side of the ball; who are busy opening holes for Mr.Hall and giving their field general the time needed to find the open man. They are in control of their own destiny, and their morale is up after a big win on homecoming. The Devils have given themselves the opportunity to fulfill the expectations laid before them during the preseason and for that I am very proud. The two week battle with the city of Morristown is always a tough tandom especially when you throw in championship implications. There is not a Greeneville/Mo'West match up that I can ever recall that wasn't a very emotional contest no matter what the score may be. I hope that all three of these teams remain healthy during the next two weeks and throughout the remainder of the season. Because unless something catastrophic happens they (along with another team who can climb to the top of the heap) will be representing the last play off class of the Five Rivers Conference. And we all know that Cap and that bunch keep track of our record against there boys so we need everyone hitting on all cylinders come November, haha (couldn't help it, I hadn't heard him fuss in a while). Speaking of healthy...might we be seeing a number 7 back in the Green and White before the season draws to a close? I mean I know he is little, but I have a feeling his presence won't go unnoticed if this was to happen, LoL.
  23. Greeneville is going to be pumped after last week...that was just what the doctor ordered in terms of boosting team moral. I wish we could have gone in for the kill when we had the opportunity, but that is an entirely different story in itself (I can't criticize...we had our own problems finishing games last season). As far as the scheduling of out-of-state opponents is concerned though, I'm glad to see it. I'm all about improving the level of our competition, indeed a nonconference loss may sting and be a blemish on our record, but if it makes us a better team when the third, fourth, and oh maybe even FIFTH round (that would be the state title game)of the playoffs rolls around then its worth it in my book. Not to mention the long term effects of building a program that is not only familiar within the football community of East Tennessee but throughout parts of southeast KY, southwest VA, western NC, heck...maybe even parts of northern GA. Everyone talks of their superior athletes and programs, I say bring em' on, we'll be the guinea pig, lol. With all that said...YES the ride to Volunteer is on the same level as that of a world-class rolercoaster, it stinks! But I feel confident that the guys won't be phased by it...atleast not by the time pregame is over, lol, hopefully.
