  1. Everything that has been said about the D2 schools is completely true. Having played for a D2-AA school, I can assure you that the travel was very time and cost consuming. The private schools want others schools to join D2 so travel costs go down, and it makes it more competetive with more teams in it. Currently there is only one state champion in D2 for wrestling, baseball, basketball, softball, volleyball, golf... I guess any sport besides Football. Maybe that's fair, maybe it's not. CBHS, MBA, McCallie and the other schools that have over 600 boys are going against schools like Lausanne with about 200 boys. I don't think that is fair. I wonder what the numbers would be if you took the D2 schools votes out of the equation (they did get to vote didn't they?)
  2. They have beaten Brentwood Academy. Melrose...who embarrassed 3A state champion Ridgeway. East...who beat AA state champion Briarcrest. They are good, I'd say MBA was better and then CBHS...I don't know how many teams are better than CBHS across the state..Locastro is a great coach and they have one of the top players in the state in lineman Corey Mills (SEC calibur recruit) and another great lineman in Brandon Pearce I believe who is being recruited by Memphis, ASU, etc. They play Germantown this week...a brutal first four weeks for the brothers.
  3. As I said earlier... two major division 1 lineman on one team...who else can say that? It's obvious that CBHS limited their ground attack and Mills and Pearce are two of the lineman who can do that.
  4. Brandon Pearce has apparently been offered scholarships to Memphis and a few SEC schools and everyone knows that Mills has been offered by the SEC schools and then Michigan State, Michigan, etc. I don't think BA has two offensive lineman with those credentials (heck who does!) and while Holbert and Townsend are very good...are BOTH of them getting recruited that heavily? I think CBHS has a better chance than usual...their coach works constantly to make them better so I say throw the previous games out and just see what happens.
  5. I'm still waiting for a response to the question I asked on August 28th.
  6. If a small private school recruits 6-8 D1 caliber players, not many public schools are going to be successful against them. I'd like to know what private school has 6-8 D1 caliber players? I know that the best player in the state goes to Tyner and Melrose has 3 D1 athletes in Antonio Heffner, Elix Wilson, and their RB. Whitehaven had 14 players play college football two years ago and Hillsboro has had some great college prospects the last few years as well. Name the school please. This is TN, not South Carolina, their education problems are not like ours.
  7. If the 1A and 2A publics would move up their level of play, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
  8. Briarcrest also lost to Ridgeway, a public school team, the next week. Harding lost to White Station, a public school...37-6! ECS won, and I believe BGA won, so I don't really see the argument either way.
  9. StanTrott, I didn't give an excuse, and you avoided my question. Tell me how it is fair please.
  10. Chip Kain is very unbias. Just listen to him do the Briarcrest/ BGA game...his home team lost in a heart breaker and you would never know that was his school. He did such a great job, that Briarcrest has a website with the team picture and an audio feed of him telling the final score...thats as unbias as you can get!
  11. I would also like to know how MBA with an enrollment between 500-800 boys against Memphis Catholic, Bishop Byrne, Lausanne (enrollments between 100-150 boys) is fair. They are all grouped together for Basketball, baseball, track, etc. Please enlighten me.
  12. MUS lost 21-34, Briarcrest lost 21-7.
  13. Middle TN has much better coaching than in Memphis...that is the reason that the teams aren't winning titles but the kids are getting recruited and sign with high calibur SEC schools like UT, arkansas, Ole Miss, State, etc.
  14. Middle TN has better football. They also have a bigger population than Shelby Co when you start talking about Williamson, Davidson, etc. The Franklin and Brentwood areas really help strengthen Middle TN's argument. 1A and 2A can't really add in to this mix since Memphis has no 1A teams and I think they only have a few 2A programs, I could be wrong about that though (Mitchell went to state last year).
  15. UT is losing 39 million this year because of the budget. We are saving 900,000 by now charging people who use a credit card to pay. Shumaker spent thousands of dollars on private parties and trips. The athletic budget at UT will not be hurt though, since athletics are self funded.
  16. Ever heard of Marc Gasol? Mr. Basketball nominee (he might have won this year, can't remember). Brother of Memphis Grizzlie Pal Gasol. 7 Footer with three point range. Anyways, he went to White Station for about two days and left the school. He wasn't able to play at that level (Tippett told me this point blank). So he goes to Lausanne, leads the city in scoring and possibly rebounding, and takes his team to the D2 state championship. White Station just wasn't the right place for him...he needed smaller environment. He also couldn't run and jump with the Spartan players, but could play a more relaxed, slow down pace that the Lynx possessed. There is an example of someone turning down the Station, and still succeeding. I believe he will now play for the Memphis Tigers.
  17. itzme, your logic is very sound and an outsider would tend to agree with them. I am from Memphis, I have seen White Station practice and play, and I went to school at Harding, and have seen various AAU programs. I won't comment on if Harding did anything, cus I wasn't there to see it so I can't refute or agree to the above statements made by Jumpshot. Many players might not want to play at White Station even though they have an open zone. White Station is very good, I don't know if you have ever seen them play itzme, but they run about 9 deep. The problem with WSHS (if there is any) is sharing the ball. Why go to WSHS and play 17 minutes a game (if that) and have to worry about guys that are 6'7 coming off the bench to relieve you at the shooting guard or point guard position (Yes, they actually have players like that). Why would a player go to Memphis for basketball if they had a scholarship offer to Duke as well? Some players turn down the more lucrative programs, to get to play more or because there friends are at a particular school, or because they like the coach, or the facilities, or they want to turn the program around, or they think that school might prepare them and their future better, or their academics or better, their environment is better, they are closer to home, etc. I don't really want to comment on the recruiting part of this, but anyone who wants to PM me, I wouldn't mind discussing it in private...in fact, I'ld like to discuss it with you Jumpshot.
  18. As far as I am concerned, there is only one team in the NFC East, one team in the NFC, and only one team in the world... That would be America's Team The Dallas Cowboys. You do realize they won 5 straight NFC East titles and are quickly on the road back up to success. When we get a quarterback and a runningback, I will be very happy with this team...Galloway, Glenn, and Bryant are fine at receiver, the defensive secondary is awesome with Roy Williams, Derek Ross, Newman, Darren Woodson, etc. The linebackers with Dat Nguyen, Brady James, Al S... (the guy from TB) and Dexter "Bricklayer" Coakley. The Cowboys have won 5 Superbowl titles, which is tied for the most and have been in 8 Superbowls...which is the most apperances by any team in the entire world. "How 'bout them Cowboys "
  19. If Hunter had been eligible his senior year (I mean eligible to go straight to college) he would have been a much more highly rated player...but many schools stayed away from him because of that. I would not call Hunter washed up...he played in the NBDL and was one of the best players in the whole league. I don't know if he made All C-USA but he was definitely one of the best guards the conference had (I believe he wasn't eligible till December, he might not have even been eligible to make C-USA honors). If he had played 4 years at a Memphis, Duke, UT, or Arkansas, instead of half of one season, he might have gotten more publicity and better coaching, and better weight training . He deserves some of the blame for him not making it in the pro's, but the truth is, he is playing basketball every day, making more money than most people his age with his type of education (just a high school degree).
  20. "Whom is doing the attacking here? If you don't want to be labeled an elitist, don't talk about how much better you are. " 1. Even if I claimed to be an elitist, that is not an attack on anyone, except myself lol. Tell me where I claimed to be better than you, I'd love to find that exact phrase "I am better than you." You're not going to find it, I don't know you, I don't know where you are from, so I didn't say that. 2. Sorry you think the analogy is lame, I liked it...two differing opinions. 3. If you want to say that public schools are better behaved that is fine...you are welcome to say that, I just said research proves that kids at public schools do not do as good on the average on standardized tests, they also do not go to colleges at the rate that public school kids go to school (100% of my senior class went to college, find me a public that matches that, I hope you do because it would be great for the future of America, but I doubt you will). 4. I could name many big time scams that have taken place at public schools and I'm sure you could to the same at private schools, but I bet there are more arrests made at public schools than private (This coming from someone who used to go to a public school mind you) 5. Saying that most of the private school kids you know are spoiled brats shows us your opinion. I am able to live peacefully with public school kids, it's too bad you can't do the same... 6. You can write whatever you want, you want to argue with research that has clearly stated that TN is one of the worst educated states in this entire country. If you honestly think that you could walk through any high school in this state and not worry about getting mugged or robbed, more power to ya...I got a list of schools you can go to in city of Memphis. PM me and I'll gladly give them to you (but I don't suggest you actually going to them, it's too dangerous) I don't like to argue with people, so I will step down from this platform, I tried using facts, analogies, and personal stories to show my reasoning, you wanted to argue with those...Nothing else I can do, good bye.
  21. If someone claimed to be an elitist, they probably wouldn't care what others that are lesser than them said to them...Why would you? That's like getting upset if a small child calls you a loser. Would that upset you more than if your parents, teachers, priest, or relatives called you a loser. Don't be mad at me that kids at private schools are usually smarter and more mild mannered. Invincible7's asked me a question, and I responded, if you don't like the response, make up your own rebuttle, don't attack the person who posted it. I don't understand you're response (thus proving I'm not as intellectual as you must think that I am) a more detailed response than a 4 word answer would be greatly appreciated when you go to the trouble of attacking someone. P.S. -Another great job again only posting half of the quote. P.S.S.- The "if I did" was signifying that it was hypothetical, if I really thought that, I wouldn't take the time to argue with "lesser" people. ONCE AGAIN, I DON'T THINK THAT SO THEREFORE DON'T THINK THAT I THINK THAT
  22. Tell me what I said that was incorrect about the research. I live with about 25 guys that went to public schools...I trust them with my valuable posessions and I know they would be there for me. My roommate even went to Hixson...gosh, I can't stand those public school kids can I? I even have a friend that went to a small Class A school near Jackson! Elitist, my you know what! Don't ever try and pull that crap on me, cus I don't think that, and if I did...I probably wouldn't spend my time trying to argue with people who I felt I was much better than.
  23. Just as all the kids at the school you support had been their since the 4th grade.
