  1. If there was ever a chance for a slip up...It's gotta be right after that Miami game. Let's say they do win it...look at the road ahead, pretty easy...vandy and UK are gimmie wins...but going down to Starkville beat up, away from home, and in the middle of no where with all those cowbells playing against a team that will be looking forward to this game and playing as hard as they can really scares me.
  2. East during Tony Harris' last year was ranked #8 in the preseason... Who was on this BGA team you speak of? The Melrose team that had Finch and Ronnie Robinson was a awesome team, won the city championship over Johnnie Newman and the Overton Rebels.
  3. I was thinking he meant the AAU 17 and under tournament, but who knows...why the Maryville paper chose to run an article about that is amazing, considering they aren't from Nashville or Memphis.
  4. I don't see how I bad mouthed Harding...I picked them to go to the state and possibly win! If anything I teased Currie for not scrimmaging the other seniors last spring...and then talked about how he laid on top of us in the game and got called for holding...if you think that is "bad mouting" then I'm sorry...I continue to ask when yall have a scrimmage lined up so I can see ya'll play, doesn't sound like a person who wants to go to a game just to bad mouth people. What position are you going to start at on O-line? Who else is starting on O-line? Congratulations by the way on starting...get CoachT plus and we will continue this privately, instead of looking like idiots in front of others.
  5. Harding made it at number 9 in the entire state? Pretty big move up there. I think SBEC might be able to take Bishop Byrne this year...SBEC has a lot of big guys and a returning quarterback...they also seem deeper then Bishop Byrne normally is. What about Morristown West? They did beat Maryville next year...Germantown also has a ton of guys back...Houston would have to be considered as well as Hillsboro, East, Martin Westview, JCM, Riverdale, DB, and possibly even Jefferson Co. but pretty good choice with the picks.
  6. I don't think either one are talking smack on here...Jamal doesn't even have a name on here...I don't think either will start but both will play a lot, might start though...Parks unless you are playing stay out of it man...thats like me saying, "My boy Casey Clausen is going to come over there and light yall up...you better be ready man...my boy Eddie Moore is going to knock your block off!" Thats just childish, act like a Harding student/ player and not like some kid who lets others do the dirty work. Everyone needs to chill a little and just wait till the season, it will be a great game for the region championship, and I think it will be the closest game between the two in the last 5 or 6 years.
  7. The 15 and under YOMCA team was hands down better then any other team. Memphis Bellevue, Idlewild, 2nd Presbyterian, and YOMCA have better history then any other team in TN, excluding the Travelers who choose not to play AAU. In the 17 and under bracket, the YOMCA 16's were the only team to advance out of pool play, so maybe the thunder beat YOMCA's 17's...if they did, congratulations...but don't make a thread like that just to stir trouble. Nashville vs Memphis is closer in football then it is in Basketball...and Memphis is possibly better then Nashville if you take out some of the other counties like Williamson or Davidson, as opposed to Memphis' one Shelby.
  8. yawns...its YOMCA...and don't ever compare the two please...Memphis is better, one AAU game doesn't change anything, the best players are from Memphis, and that is why Memphis has dominated the AA and AAA ranks...I haven't seen Maryville even make it to state yet, although Lee is very good.
  9. I like the defense with Glenn, Sharper, Wong, etc...but an old injured runningback, receivers who didnt start at their previous team, a rookie qb and a banged up offensive line that is missing both of their tackles is going to hurt...especially when they open up against my cowboys who return just about everyone on the fourth ranked defense from last year.
  10. That makes more sense, thanks ELA. But is it illegal to scrimmage a AAU team or a junior college team in basketball?
  11. How exactly did Alford and Davis stab him in the back? Are they just supposed to stay assistants until Knight crokes and then go on living? So did the Missouri Coach stab coach K in the back? Or Tommy Amecker over at Michigan? They stabbed Coach K. also? The man is a jerk, and he is bully.

No prob, I had to read that list atleast 3 times to make sure maryville wasnt on it. So I understand Wesvols, and I am probably more guilty of that then anyone else on this site. BA is loaded, I mean they are a dang good football team this year.
  13. Matt Shelton from Collierville was clocked at a 4.23 and a 4.29...He signed with Notre Dame...They said he was te fastest freshman there. The Commercial Appeal ran the story, many people from Memphis probably still remember it. I'm not saying its true, but I bet he ran a legit 4.3.
  14. Many have said that this expansion team is the best expansion team in the history of the NFL. And they do have some solid players, and some that will mature in the near future like Gaffney and Carr. They have some of the best corners in guys like Aaron Glenn, best linebackers in Kailee Wong and Jaimie Sharper and the best left tackle in Tony Boselli. Does anyone else see them actually achieving this year? Carr is a rookie quarterback, and I don't care how many touchdowns you threw for in College (which was 42 senior year I think) you still have to be able to read the NFL defenses. The best defensive masterminds in the world are in the NFL, and expectations are going to be high....but would you want to rest the welfare of your team on a rookie qb that has a banged up runningback and a make shift offensive line? People talk about their great receivers, but Corey Bradford was a third receiver in Green Bay behind Freeman and Schroeder, and the Baltimore guy was also behind Qadry Ismail and Shannon Sharpe. I just think it might have been more sensible to have taken a Bledsoe, Hasselback, maybe a Shawn King, Jim McMahon, or someone like that...does anyone else think that they have just a few too many young guys in positions where it might hurt them?

    Wesvols... 6)brentwood a. 7)gallatin 8)brentwood I take 6 as Brentwood Academy and 8 as Brentwood High school...why Maryville isn't on there I just don't understand.
  16. It can be overcome...but I think its kinda like Memphis in football... Memphis gets one or two good players from the city of Memphis every year, problem is..its ONE or TWO good players, and Memphis is playing in Conference USA, much weaker then SEC competition. Vanderbilt would have to put together those winning seasons as you said (which is tough to do no matter who you are playing in the SEC) and then that would have to translate into at least THREE very good football recruiting classes. We have already established that the interest isn't really there, so it would be pretty tough. Vanderbilt is a pretty small college (which can be good or it can be bad). It is also neighbors UT which is never a good thing to compete against. I think if I was a kid from Alabama or FL it would be hard to convince me to go to a program that is extremely challenging academically, lacks the interest that other SEC schools have, plays basically second fiddle to UT in football, is not close to home, and shows no signs what so ever of progress. Let's think about it...what is Vanderbilt really good at? Basketball wise they have never been terrible really, but never the second or third best team in the SEC. Baseball wise they are not bad, but definitely not a LSU or Mississippi State, Ole Miss, UT, or South Carolina Women's basketball they are good, but I think women have higher GPA's on the whole, as opposed to men in the NCAA...so its hard to say. I really think it is academics, not only at Vanderbilt but at other academic institutions. Let's think about some other really really good academic schools...Stanford (great but the interest and lure of the West Coast really helps them)...and the PAC-10 isn't nearly as hard as SEC, and they dont even win the PAC-10...Duke (horrible)...UNC (just recently turned it around)...Northwestern (was good but now they are average)...Cal-Berkely (mediocre)...Even the great Notre Dame has had many players be ruled academically ineligbile...Purdue (picked it up a lot but still not the best)...Tulane (horrible)...the Ivey league schools dont even play it D1 football. What do UT, Texas, LSU, Michigan, Illinois, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Auburn, Michigan, Missouri, Florida, Alabama, Colorado, FSU, Nebraska, etc. all have in common? They are all public, state schools. They are also very populous, as opposed to Vanderbilt which I thought had around 5800 on campus students, but I could be completely wrong... I say all of this stuff, but I have two friends that play for Vandy, and I wish them the best...and they are my second favorite team besides UT, and if they beat UT...I would probably just shake my head and smile. 17. Peyton wasn't playing the jabronis that Eli plays either...SEC West is not nearly as WILD (get it?) as the East.

Maryville didn't make it? It says 5A and 4A...yet BA is on there...
  19. Well the main problem is the academic standards at Vandy...I mean let's be honest, it keeps a lot of kids out, and keeps a lot of kids from trying(Ron Mercer being one)...I, for one, would have loved to have gone to college in Nashville especially at Vanderbilt...I mean its beautiful, its pretty quiet, and its in downtown Nashville.
  20. I don't think Clausen has put up better numbers then Grossman or Dorsey? I like Ragone and his size I think hes like 6'4 6'5 and 254 lbs now. Ragone has won the last 2 CUSA offensive player awards...NFL qb wise I just don't see where Clausen fits, hes not a scrambler, hes a guy that really plays within himself, doesn't make mistakes...but not the new age qb like a Kordell, McNair, McNabb, Vick, Quincy Carter...maybe he will grow up to be as accurate as a Warner or Gannon, but that would be really hard...I think he made the correct decision in staying, and think he might need to wait another year.
  21. I'm not saying I care, but I just want to see how that is wrong.
  22. How is a TN team violating those rules by playing Oak Hill...the TN team (lets say school TN) doesn't have anybody that is 19, or has graduated? There are a lot of college teams that play professional teams for exhibition games, High Five America, Athletes in Action, Harlem Globetrotters, Australian National Team etc. How does that hurt the TSSAA schools to schedule those teams? Could they not even scrimmage them? Just because Oak Hill doesn't go under TSSAA doesn't mean anything, you could play a MPSAA if you wanted to and the TSSAA might not recognize it as a regular game, but that doesn't matter does it?
  23. scalpors, I would say 30 to 40 dollars is about the norm, but I have seen people get them for 25 or so.
  24. My school was forced to play BA and MUS (lucky us!) but as a regular season game I really don't care that much...It kinda puts things in perspective as to how good you are...I can see why people care, and its good that people do care...I am against putting a multiplier on a private school just because they are private, the only other fairer thing then the current system is a split.
  25. Redskins are going to have to rely on their defense. Arrington might be the best defensive player in the league, Jeremiah Trotter is probably the youngest/best middle linebacker, and Armstead has been the the probowl 5 times...I would still say the Steelers linebackers are better, but not real sure. Champ Bailey is one of the best corners in the league, and Fred Smoot (smootsmack.com) is a good corner but this group still isn't as good as the Eagles duo of Troy Vincent and Bobby Taylor. Honestly the offense does not have a quarterback, and it doesn't have any proven receivers. Jacquez Green knows the system the best, but Gardner is where the future lies, but hes only a second year player. When they released Michael Westbrook they lost one of their big receivers who could go over the middle, I thought they should have kept him because they do not have a great quarterback, regardless of who they go with. Their best offensive weapon is Stephen Davis, but I don't think he fits Spurriers offense...He's not a guy that needs draws or sweeps, hes a north south punishing runner who is coming off one of his best years ever. I think a Warrick Dunn or Tiki Barber type player is what Spurrier wants. They love draws and screen passes, are great receivers out of the back field, and don't need a lead blocker...they can work out of a trips or single set formation and most outside backers can't cover them one on one. Realistically they are 8-8 for the third year in a row, possibly sneak into the playoffs as a wildcard, but would lose right after that. I don't see them sweeping the Eagles, Cowboys, or Giants or possibly not even splitting with them (Cowboys have beaten them like 10 times in a row). I think the best/ worse thing that could have happened happened last night...the Redskins won and they won big, but I don't think that is what that team needs right now.
