  1. No doubt that the field will play a huge part in the results of the game. Briarcrest plays a possession game, and soggy wet fields do not allow for that play. However, I do believe that the larger size of the field compared to St Agnes field will go to Briarcrest's favor. As long as we can stay on focus and play smart with the SAA speedsters, we will play a very good game against each other. We have been our own worst enemy at times this season playing some awesome games and then playing some games which we would like to forget. See you tonight!
  2. It is more fun to keep people guessing about what anyone is actually talking about....and keep changing topics within a thread....like going from Katie Hunter tournament to club soccer...never a dull moment on CoachT! Oops....did I change topics again?
  3. Great call on the score...I would have never have predicted that high a score....Houston is on a roll now....
  4. Final score....drum roll... Houston - 5 Germantown - 0 Houston coach must have had one heck of a half time talk and 2nd half plan.....Five goals on G'town's defense and keeper is an AWESOME accomplishment....congrats! Guess it was an amazing offense against a very strong defense.....
  5. This is the score at the half.....don't want anyone to say that you are reporting mis-information before the final whistle blows! Houston goal came about 34 minutes into the half....however, I heard that G'town had 21 players in the box!
  6. Anyone playing tonight? Briarcrest versus White Station was cancelled due to rain!
  7. For 2009, this is the bracketing basis...on page 2 for D2 http://www.tssaa.org/Handbook/soccer.pdf
  8. Wait...Collierville does keep and post stats! Collierville shots - 19 Collierville shots on goal - 11 (G'town keeper did an amazing job) Collierville Saves - 1 (guess G'town had 3 total shots on goal for the game)
  9. Excuse me? When did I speak before the final whistle blows? If you follow the thread (and note dates and times), early in the week...predictions were given....then I provided a half time update and then a final score update for this game...you may want to read the thread more carefully before throwing any insults. And mstreep....the reference to the ponyclub question is due to the above....still not sure where I spoke before the whistle was blown...which started much of the string and Friday spice!
  10. Yes....here we ALL go again! Let's spice up the Friday! We were merely responding to a post to get clarification. The questions were not directed at you nor do the comments have anything to do with club soccer! We are trying to stay away from that subject as the "G man" will get involved. Do you have a comment on the thread at hand or just a question for the dog and me?
  11. Excuse me? When did I speak before the final whistle blows? If you follow the thread (and note dates and times), early in the week...predictions were given....then I provided a half time update and then a final score update for this game...you may want to read the thread more carefully before throwing any insults. And, what have I said previously???
  12. Some Memphis area scores... Houston - 4 Collierville - 3 Houston up 3 to 2 at the half... Germantown High School - 0 Univ School of Jackson - 0
  13. Final score... Houston - 4 Collierville - 3
  14. At the half, Houston is up 3 to 2 over Collierville.....if Houston scores only 1 goal 2nd half...then my guess will be accurate! However, the score is already higher at the half than I would have predicted..... On another note...Germantown HS and University School of Jackson tied 0 to 0 tonight.
  15. Briarcrest just put in a new facility that has locker rooms, a press box with sound system, and covered seating areas for the coach/players! It was dedicated a few weeks ago. The field is regulation size with expansive area of grass surrounding the field to keep players safe from injury when the ball goes out of bounds. There are several fields here in Memphis where a track surrounds the soccer field and is only a few feet away from the sidelines...causing risk of injury when a ball goes out of bounds and the player is running full speed.
  16. The D2AA teams are very competitive with the AAA teams as exhibited with games that have been played so far this year throughout the state...St Agnes beat Houston, Ravenwood, Independence and many more, Briarcrest tied Houston and Germantown and beat Ravenwood and Independence, St Benedict beat Oak Ridge and some other AAA teams. In the East and Middle, Baylor and GPS have pretty much had their way with many AAA teams.
  17. With the comments above....I will go with a closer game of: Houston - 4 Collierville - 2
  18. I would agree with that! Very few postings this year! There are some days where there isn't even one new post! With DonC and Chass leaving, as well as Coniglio and Reaction getting a life, things have gotten rather quiet! The only really spirited posts are when we posters lose track of the thread and go off into club soccer land....
  19. Yes...thank you very much for the kind words for the West! Most of the the games have been pretty close and much is determined by pure luck this year on some of the games. Depends on which defensive line loses focus to allow a goal or who may have the better ref team to keep the game in control (or which ref has the best eyeglasses to really call the offsides, etc) or who can actually hit the net versus the cross bar first or who can handle swampy field conditions the best. It should be an exciting post season. However, I will say from a consistency stand point that St Agnes and Houston have come out ahead.
  20. Briarcrest - 1 St Benedict - 2 Game was 0 to 0 at the half. Had an awesome center ref who was calling the game well up until early in the 2nd half...when he twisted his knee. The AR took over and the game was not called quite as closely. SBA played a very aggressive game and scored first with about 17 minutes remaining in the game, with a Briarcrest goal afterwards to tie it up. SBA 2nd's goal came from a corner that was never full cleared by the defense leaving a SBA player unmarked with around 4 minutes or so left in the match... Both teams had some excellent opportunities. Field was very wet with a light drizzle which doesn't bode well for Briarcrest's possession game.
  21. Briarcrest - 3 ECS - 1 Good game although pretty physical. ECS scored early on a well placed corner kick with an ECS player left unmarked at the six...shame on us. Briarcrest tied it up and teams were tied at the half. Although ECS played a tough second half, Briarcrest was able to put two well placed goals in. In other results....Saint Agnes 0 to 0 tie versus Saint Benedict. The Saint Agnes top offensive player out with the flu....hope she gets better soon (however....not that I want her to be sick....couldn't she have been sick out for the Briarcrest game?!?) One of their other top players was also out today. Also heard one of the top players for SBA was on in injury list today. Germantown tied White Station 0 to 0 with the Germantown coach receiving a red card....from what I understand, he was not happy with some of the ref calls (or lack of)....
  22. Actually....yes, I was serious about the goal scoreres....but no, I don't agree with anyone running the score up to 18. On one hand, yes it is nice for girls to score that have never scored in a game before, but although nice for them...they aren't realizing how painful this is to the opposing team. I think that one of the best ways to limit scoring but continue to play is to pull players from the field....have nine (or even lower) play their 11 for example. At least it would be a more competitive game! It would also give the team with only 8 or 9 on the field to focus on better passing and more possession for success
  23. I guess one good thing you can say about it is that the 18 goals were spread between 12 girls....including the goal keeper who scored two!
