  1. The Clay County win this Friday is gonna be made even sweeter by the vast majority of folks outside of Celina that ain’t even giving the Dawgs a chance in this one.
  2. We’ll definitely still have live audio Croz but negatory on the video. Hope your daughter is feeling better. A ton of sickness going around.
  3. Yeah, nice that it’ll be covered there but it’s a shame that shuts down local streaming groups that have gladly paid the $750 fee to live stream the prior three rounds.
  4. Plenty of excitement in Bulldog Country. Thankful for the young men and the coaches on the team for giving us all a season to remember, even if we weren’t playing Friday. That being said, we are playing Friday and the best is yet to come. Been out painting the field getting it ready for these young men. Even though it was getting cold, it was a real treat for an old groundskeeper to FINALLY get to paint John Teeples Field up with my pals for semifinal action. Coalfield has some good linemen from what I’ve seen, but Clay has them beat at every skill position and most of the line from what I’ve seen. I hope the community pours out to Joe Neil Eads Stadium Friday Night for the first semi action in Celina since 1985. Y’all all enjoy your holiday tomorrow. The good Lord has blessed us all more than we even can comprehend.
  5. Looking at the other side McKenzie has a 143.6 and MASE a 124.1, Rebels by 20 there.
  6. The Sonny Moore Power Ratings have Clay with a 138.6 rating and Coalfield at 131.9, add the suggested two points for home field advantage and the Dawgs are projected as a 9 point favorite. The same ratings had the Dawgs as a 17 point favorite over Gordonsville last week.
  7. This time around it was 20 carries for 253 (10 for 41, 10 for 212) and 3 TDs each
  8. Sorry to reiterate your thoughts OTR, I was typing my post before I saw yours. Glad we’re on the same page though, we’ve got some great players, 9th-11th, that haven’t gotten to have their turn yet.
  9. We’ll return 4 offensive starters, and 3 defensive starters. The cupboard ain’t bare behind this amazing group of seniors, but the guys behind them that don’t start haven’t seen much time yet during their careers. 9 seniors is a big class for us.
  10. From 40 to 40 between the hashes it’s pretty bare. It’s dried out well, but there’s definitely not much of a base left in that area. Outside of that it’s still got a good layer of grass. Shouldn’t factor in things either way I don’t believe.
  11. https://twitter.com/horizonsports_/status/1593473634244386816?s=46&t=L3aUKqdf7C8gx3jkn2PzrA
  12. Sounds like the gospel to me! I can say this, Dawgs are 23-2 at home in the last four years, and neither one of them losses were to Gordonsville.
  13. Right at a half an inch of rain in Celina today. Cooler temps and little sun exposure might make a field that’s hosting it’s 5th straight Friday night a less than ideal.
  14. I figured something along those lines. No doubt that a team from the old days with 3 classes that got put out by an alphabet school, could more than likely roll to a title these days. Much has changed.
  15. Doing a little research today and I believe I counted up 18 previous 3rd Round appearances for Gordonsville. That’s good stuff. 6-12 in those games if I counted right, and obviously 3-3 in the semis I suppose. Any Tiger posters have an opinion on how the 2012 team would’ve matched up against the 1984 team (hard to compare different eras, I know)? I remember that ‘12 team very well, tush hogs.
  16. Yeah I know. Sorry I wrote it weird. Point is, the ball got to the four on the drive, in what would’ve been first and goal. If sorry playing calling gets the ball to that point on every drive before players take it away with penalties then I guess I’d take sorry play calling all day long.
  17. I’m curious to see how the Tiger passing attack fairs IF Clay is able to get up a few scores and maybe force the Tigers out of ground and pound. The last two passes for Gville on John Teeples Field were INTs. But then again there were two passing TDs prior to that with another that should’ve been, so maybe I’m not too curious to see how the passing might go. 3 is capable of hurting a team with his arm or legs, a good player. 5 is a beast, but 3, 34, 16, 32, 4, 15 can all get it done at any time too.
  18. Wouldn’t nothing too bad with the play calling, had it 1st and goal at the 4, prior to the personal foul.
  19. Visiting bleachers have always been an embarrassment for us. What does exist are low lying and awful. The Gville crowd a few weeks ago was the biggest visitor crowd ever assembled at John Teeples Field I’d say. With East Rob, Smith Co., and York/Monterey all playing Friday I’m sure there’ll be some neutral fans that won’t make it here that otherwise would have, but the atmosphere should be great anyway.
  20. Gordonsville’s seniors have got put out in their three prior seasons by SP in the third round every year, so definitely a huge congratulations to them for dispatching of the Pirates last Friday in a game that I predicted Gville would win. Clay’s seniors have been put out in the 2nd every year (2019 SP, 2020 Gville, 2021 SP). Both groups are dead set on stamping their legacy on their respective programs by hosting a semifinal game next week. This will be the 6th meeting of these squads in the past four years, and as was mentioned by OldTownRoad, the home team has won em all. Friday is gonna be fun, win, lose, or draw. It ain’t no secret that Gordonsville has been dominant in this series for 50 years now, and have established themselves as the best current A program in the east year in and year out behind SP. It’s Clay’s turn to finally have some fortune and glory I hope.
  21. Since 1985, Dawgs went on the road and beat Knox Catholic to advance to the semis. Our seniors are gamers though. I don’t really worry about nerves with them honestly, but you’re right, essentially uncharted territory for Bulldog football. However three of our leaders were big parts of the state championship basketball team two years ago, so some of our kids have already played on bigger stages and won.
  22. The jet sweep pass with the WR was definitely out of the norm but shouldn’t have been a surprise to the defense since the WR is our second QB who threw for over 1500 yards and 19 TDs last year as a freshman. Definitely a good play call. Kinda similar to when y’all tried to throw for the two point with 16, who I believe is y’all’s freshman reserve QB (which I’ve heard is gonna be a beast of a replacement after 3 leaves next year).
  23. What were the gimmick trick plays? Maybe I wasn’t at the same game? And as far as the “we beat ourselves” goes I could easily say we had blowed coverages on y’all’s 2 TD passes and that we should’ve easily won 35-7, instead of 27-20.
  24. One thing that needs to change this time around for another Clay victory is a better run game. I was very impressed with the Tiger defensive front. They held our power runners to 79 yards on 27 carries. That’s good defense. The Dawgs need to improve in that area this time around.
