  1. Regardless of how many wins they or anybody else had, Polk Co. was the second best team in the district under any format. The won the run differential against Sequoyah and Boyd, and swept everyone else other than Central.
  2. It isn't as if 5-AA is the only split district. 6-AA is also split. The decision was made for economical reasons, it had nothing to do with the competition in the divisions.
  3. This thread is about Polk Co. So take your discussion on McMinn Central somewhere else canadian.
  4. Coleman is the shortsop, he has 2 homeruns. Rayburn is the second baseman, and he also has 2. Cook, #23, has 1. Not quite 12 and 15.
  5. Central should be very strong offensively from top to bottom. However, Central lacks that dominant starter that every elite team has. They have several above average pitchers (Moses, Rayburn, Cook) but I don't see the guy on that staff that can be the dominant pitcher they are lacking.
  6. McMinn Central is up by 20+ in the 3rd quarter. If that score holds up you'll have Brainerd vs. Meigs in the 3rd place game and McMinn Central vs. Polk in the championship.
  7. Polk defeated Brainerd in one semi-final. The other is between McMinn Central and Meigs Co. It is going on now but I haven't heard a score.
  8. Howie Meadows and Tyler Moore didn't matter? These two have been key pieces in that line up for the past three years.
  9. I saw Pheifer on a regular basis throughout the summer against some big time competition. He may be able to hit 90+, but he is regularly in the mid 80's. However his velocity is not what makes him the great pitcher he is. He hides the ball incredibly well and has excellent movement on his fastball, as well as his breaking ball. He also makes great use of the most underated pitch in baseball, the changeup. All these factors along with his knowledge of pitching makes him the pitcher he is.
  10. Great job last night by the Wildcats. The defense capped off an unbelievable year with arguably their best performance yet. To hold a running back like Mr. Tope to only 47 yards on 22 carries is impressive. Both scores for Station Camp came on short fields after blocked punts. To go on the road, in the playoffs, and play a school with twice your enrollment down to the wire, shows a ton of character. Also, thanks to the Bison for a great game and a very classy group of fans. Good luck the rest of the way.
  11. Smokey... WC, You guys can't be serious. Granted, Central has had 2 very good seasons. But even drunk on your BLUE KOOL-AID, you surely can't truly believe that Central's program "blew right by Polk." The mark of a good program is longevity and 2 years certainly doesn't qualify. Polk ,on the other hand, hasn't lost fewer than 7 games since 2000. I would agree that Central has had a better team over the past 2 years, but to say that their program is better than Polk's is pushing it to say the least. I doubt Central will match Polk's feat of 8 straight playoff appearences (and counting) anytime soon.
  12. The GREAT ONE, a.k.a. Coach Derrick, is singing a different song in today's DPA.
  13. Smokey, Please show me where someone blasted Coach Davis. I must have missed that somehow. I saw some grumblings about the offensive coordinator, but not Coach Davis.
  14. You won't. As good as Micheal Bryant is, Hunter Poteete, from Dekalb Co., is better. He has put up unbelievable numbers against defenses far better than Central's. I look for him to have a field day against a weak Central pass defense.
  15. Friday night, Central's defense was remarkable. Granted, Polk's offense is very, very young and not very good at this point, but the defense was still very impressive. To be honest, I don't see how East Rigde put up 16 or how Sequoyah put up anything. The defense had better play like they did Friday every week if they hope to make a run, because, IMO, Central's offense will really struggle against teams that can match up athletically.
  16. I'm not sure why you people are so proud of 95 yards in penalties. Don't get me wrong, you guys have a very good defense and holding any opponent to 72 total yards is remarkable. However, that many penalties WILL come back to haunt you when you play someone (like anyone from Region 4) that has an above average offense (unlike Polk).
  17. Coach Davis doesn't call the plays. Coach Mackersie is the offensive coordinator.
  18. My understanding is that McMinn Central, Meigs Co., Polk Co., Sequoyah, Sweetwater, and possibly Loudon will make up a 2A district, with Meigs Co., Polk Co., Sweetwater, and Loudon going into 3A for the playoffs and McMinn Central and Sequoyah going 4A. I haven't heard anything about the Kingston or Lenior City possibilities. As for Howard, East Ridge, and Notre Dame, the scenario I saw had them with Red Bank, Branierd, and Signal Mountain, with Howard going 3A, and Notre Dame and East Ridge 4A.
  19. Wrong. They have Polk week 2, which is what I was reffering to.
  20. Huh? That makes absolutely no sense.
  21. I am not a coach and I can't wait till week 2, 2009.
  22. I know what class is, but maybe you should inform your coaches in the press box. I would give you examples of their classiness but i would probably get kicked off the board. I'm sure you'll have some excuse and play this off like I am jealous idiot, but I was there and I heard it.
  23. Wrecking Crew people like you are the reason Central has the name it has. Nobody asked you for your take on the Polk-Central game. This is a Polk-Notre Dame thread. I can assure that Polk's players are healed up just fine from the "pounding" they took last Friday night. I would rather win 7-8 games a year and make a playoff appearence with a little class than have a couple of winning seasons every 10 years like you guys do it at Central. As for the game at hand, Polk pitches its 6th shut out. Polk 27 Notre Dame 0
  24. You guys have a good team. Enjoy your success while it lasts.
