  1. Anybody who has information on spring scrimmages this year let us know....dates, times, teams,whatever....I'm just ready to watch some football.
  2. Who's scrimmaging this spring in Northeast Tennessee??? Let's get a list from anybody who has any information so I can watch some football. I'm tired of waiting.
  3. I am aware that I misspelled competitions twice. I am not an uneducated fool. Sorry.
  4. Does anyone know of any weightlifting competions or have information on competions that are going on this spring? I know of the Hampton lifting meet in April that always goes on. Are there any other ones in East Tennessee? Maybe with cleans? Let us know here.
  5. Sorry to get off of the "let's be mad at alcoa" thread but I wanted to post some observations of what makes a big difference in teams. Location! I say this not because of athletic ability or size because other than a few places in knoxville, nashville, and memphis, kids are mostly the same all over the state. I mean Tennessee is not overflowing with Division I prospects. I say location because of what I have experienced in my young coaching career. I coach in Northeast Tennessee, which is known as probably the weakest part of the state for football. In coaching up here, I notice that a lot of the kids do not have what I had growing up, and that is football I.Q. They do not know what a football player is supposed to look like, act like, or work like. When I grew up I did not have to be told by my coach that it's easier to catch if you have gloves, or that receivers run faster if they wear low top cleats. This may sound silly, but it is really what some schools have to deal with. Now, location factors into this because look at how far we are from ANY college football. We are 2 hours away from UT and 2 1/2 hours away from Virginia Tech. The majority of these kids up here haven't seen what football is all about besides what is in the mountains of Northeast Tennessee. High Schools that are lucky enough to be around good college football programs and see football in person are usually successful. That is just my observation and our coaching staff's biggest problem. Knowing what quality football is supposed to be like.
  6. I may be heading over this game on Friday night because Valley and North play Thursday and it's too far of a drive to Johnson County. How do you see this one shaping up? I heard East has a lot of injuries. What's the update? Any key kids coming back?
  7. I heard he is completely giving the program a facelift and doing a good job of it. obviously they are struggling this year, but with the way their offseason is, and middle school football on the rise in erwin, it probably won't be very long until you see Unicoi County up there for the first time. i heard they have been cleaning house since january.
  8. Greeneville will win big just because of athletes and quality coaching. They will be more diverse than South Greene has ever dreamed. The only thing that could equalize the size advantage up front for the South Greene front is that they have unbelievable cut blocking skills. I have seen nobody get a great amount of pressure on Susong because of this. If Greeneville can get off the cuts then it will be even an even longer night for South Greene.
  9. Not even close....Unicoi County 275- south Greene 0
  10. This is not Coach White's screen name so do not get this confused. Because he does not have one, he told me individually as of around 3 minutes ago to post this. "I am completely behind Coach Huskins. I want the talking and arguing about me to stop on here. Jerad is the right man for the job and I sincerely believe that. We have to be united in order to be successful, and I am in complete support of Coach Huskins and the staff." -That is straight from Coach Glen White, thanks.
  11. blue ten, you can get on here and say what you want man, but i'm just telling the truth. Cosby didn't even want styles. i didn't comment on the strength and speed guy because that was more of a school board issue. That stuff just comes from the top. that's the reason cocke county is in the situation that it is in. if you had ever seen styles coach, then you would know what i'm talking about. sure he got a job in cumberland county, but anyone can get a job coaching high school football. that's a fact. if you want to have proof, just look at cocke county's staff. that's all i am going to say about that. now, wes parker is a great find, and it is unfortunate that that situation did not work out. however, all that is to blame on the last regime, and the school board, as well as larry williams. cocke county can win. but they don't care enough to work hard enough to win, and that starts from the top, bottom line. i played for coach kelly, and i'm not saying he is the man for the job. I'm not saying he isn't. i just know that until the attitude around cocke county changes, they could bring steve spurrier in and they wouldn't win. oh yeah, and i do know what i'm talking about
  12. i'm from cocke county and i know of the two coaches who are supposed to be great. I know you really don't know them so i'm not bashing you, but the wide receiver coach that has had college experience is a football idiot. Sorry, it would be one thing for someone who has coached in college to evolve and learn new things, but this guy had coached in the 50's and then still taught football like it was the 50's. The kids really weren't learning that much seriously. He wanted a lot more power than he deserved. I know you had just heard these things, and like i said i'm not trying to argue, i had just seen his work at the practice field. Sometimes, no matter how much you used to know, coaches must still evolve and continue to learn. bottom line.
  13. oh, and by the way, longhorn51, i heard corey headley wasn't at practice on wednesday.....why? because he was visiting the university of louisville the night they played kansas state on espn. i don't know if louisville is giving manager scholarships now, but i guess that's the only reason he was there since what's his name from Johnson Co. is the only division I prospect in the region.
  14. exactly what division I school is prudhomme going to? just curious if he had verbally committed anywhere yet?
