  1. Here are High, Low and Average round trips for each school (per Google maps): Gordonsville: 174, 52, and 104 Trousdale: 192, 52, 106 Red Boiling Springs: 162, 44, 108 Clay County: 204, 44, 124 Monterey: 258, 76, 144 MTCS: 228, 84, 146 NCS: 262, 90, 158 Pickett: 312, 74, 176 Jo Byrns: 312, 106, 180 Maybe T$$AA has cut a deal with OPEC or the Saudis to stimulate oil prices.
  2. It's not a ton. Couple of 100 at best on the visitor side. Lots of fence to lean on though. Whitwell has the best visitor side I've been to in a while.
  3. MTCS welcomes TC Football to the 'boro. If you use the address 100 E. MTCS Road Google and Mapquest will lead you to the school campus. The field is to the left behind the church building. We have a pretty good concession stand. Visitor side bleachers are not the best but better than they were a few years ago. Plenty of good restaurants in the area as well. Safe travels.
  4. Don't know how far you go back. MTCS won 2 of the first 3. Forrest has won the 4 in a row. And won the last one convincingly.
  5. Sour grapes. Nobody complains when they beat MTCS. When MTCS wins we either cheated or recruited.
  6. MTCS is buying a drone for the playoffs to fax overhead pics to the sideline before the command central "radios" the play call into the QB. Lol!
  7. Congratulations! You win "most ignorant post of the season". I've read outlandish stuff on here but this takes the cake.
  8. No doubt. Probably create 3-4 turnovers in the game. Question is who will adapt? I bet the concession stand will set a record for coffee and hot chocolate revenue tonight.
  9. Possible. It all depends on how the quads break down. This week's games could create a swing in seeding. Seems like last year there was a "selection show" of sorts by the T$$AA. Is there one scheduled this weekend?
  10. Halftime. Forrest leads 35-6. Better than the Cougars in every aspect of the game.
  11. I'll say this (and I believe many of the Cougar faithful will agree) I am a bit surprised about our record at this point. Yes, our non-district games were soft (cupcakes some will say). Whitwell was a pretty good team and the game turned on a few key plays and turnovers. Our district schedule started with what turned out to be the bottom half of the district (expected Fayetteville to do a bit better this year) and we have the two best teams remaining. I don't know of anyone who really thought we would be 8-0 at this point in the season. I expected a 7 win season with an outside chance at an 8 win season. We knew the boys and their abilities as they have been playing since they were freshies. What we didn't know was the coaching staff. We've had great coaches in the past and I appreciate them greatly. This staff is either lucky, good or both. They make great preparation and timely adjustments. We've seen a twist or two every week. They have also done a pretty good job of keeping the players balanced between being confident and staying humble. Will the Cougars win tonight? Don't know -- I haven't even seen Forrest play this year. Everything in the first 8 or 9 weeks points to a pretty good match up. Forrest always "brings it" when it comes to MTCS. Can't wait...
  12. Read the article again. He says Forrest and Eagleville are similar defensively. He gives Forrest's run game a lot of credit and says it will take a "Herculean effort" by the Cougars on defense to be successful. Not sure why you would criticize the article or the author. You predict a 3 pt Forrest win and he predicts a 2 pt. Cougar win. Sounds like you both think 2-3 plays will determine the outcome. Hope both teams play to their potential and no one gets hurt.
  13. She was a true "blue" fan yet was respectful to opponents as well. Enjoyed walking over to the "other side" and visiting with her at halftime.
  14. Sure do miss LTR. Nan was a credit to the CoachT message boards.
  15. Hope you guys are better at your day jobs than you are at your prognosticating skills. ThaAmbassador is correct. These boys HAVE come a long ways from where they were a few years ago. Every game gets tougher and I expect Forrest in Chapel Hill to be no different. As for Eagleville they have a good qb. When the center went out with a knee injury their line struggled. Been on the other side of whippings by Eagleville the last few years. It was nice to come out on top on Senior night this year.

    District 9A

In terms of regular season finish this preseason list got 2 of the 7 spots correct. Flip Fayetteville and Huntland; then take MTCS from the dead last spot and slide them to the 4 spot while sliding everyone else down. In the District 9a tournament there are 3 teams left standing: Community is waiting in the winners bracket for the winner of Forrest vs. MTCS. There have plenty of exciting games in the tournament thus far. Community and Forrest last night wasn't determined until the final inning. MTCS and Moore County went 10 innings before a winner was determined. Moore County didn't play particularly well throughout the season but they played one whale of game last night. Tremendous pitching and defensive effort. The Forrest baseball program deserves a "tip of the cap". They have done a first class job of running the tourney. The field crew tidies up the bullpen after each use and the field of play has been nicely groomed. Job well done!

A little selective memory there. The Forrest coach dropped it immediately behind the catcher while the pitcher was warming up. That's a great way to turn an ankle. I'm assuming it was not intentional - just lack of thought. The catcher rolled it down the 3b line and it may have hit the coach's feet. He picked it up and threw it out of play. You decide. The catcher didn't "throw the ball at Parker". That's ridiculous.

    District 9A

Where did Yates sign? We should get an indication of the quality of your pre-season predictions next week: "dead last MTCS" plays Fayetteville City one week from tomorrow; Community plays Moore County; Eagleville plays Huntland. Let the games begin!
  19. Boxman and FreeAgent: Hope both of you are doing well. Phase 2 of rebuilding continues for the MTCS Cougars. Lots of youngsters playing with a lot of heart but not much experience. Seen a few bright spots but we are stilling putting it all together. Looking forward to some Wartrace hospitality come Friday night.
  20. New coaches in District 9A At least 3 new coaches next year for district teams: Forrest, Eagleville and MTCS. I think Coach Parker (Blackman and Cascade) returns to District 9A as coach of Forrest. Haven't heard anything on Eagleville. MTCS named Coach Stewart as head coach today and Coach Carver as Associate Head Coach.
  21. Rumor is more xfers on the way...
  22. This week-end is the big East Cobb Nashville Showcase Tournament. There is a link in the middle of the page showing the schedule and teams that will be in town: http://www.eastcobbbaseball.com/tour_details.php?tid=156 55 different 16-18 year old teams playing at various colleges and high schools in the Nashville area. Area schools will have plenty of opportunities to evaluate talent.
