  1. I felt like Karns was heading in the right direction to turn their program around last season. I know you probably couldnt tell it by their overall record, but i felt like Karns was competitive in alot of games at least for about 3 or 3 1/2 quarters. I dont know how many kids you lost to graduation, but i think Karns is in the process of turning things around finally.....but their district isnt going to get any easier this year. Good luck & God Bless!
  2. You are correct Mavsfan....this is a free country and you have the right to speak or talk about anything you want. But you should also respect coacht and everyone on here, even catholic fans....lol. Good luck to your Mavs finding a coach and i hope it is one you guys are happy with. Good luck & God Bless!
  3. I dont think you have to worry about Herrell, i would think he is pretty happy where he is.
  4. I have nothing but the upmost respect for Coach Kerr. I hate to see him go. It's not going to be the same without him. I wish him and his family the best!
  5. After Coach Gaylor left Clinton and went to Maryville, that is when Clinton started going downhill. The coach that was hired to replace Gaylor just couldnt get the job done, putting it nicely. We had players quitting the team and transferring to other schools . I think at one time Clinton had only 36 or so players and we were used to having around 70. Clinton isn't traditionally a "bad" team. We were always finishing around 7-3 or 6-4 year in and year out. I dont believe that a bad record considering we played Oak Ridge, Farragut, Central, Halls, Powell year in and year out. So i dont think Clinton will go back to where they were if our coaching staff stays. Most teams go through these cycles. I mean, i can remember when we beat A.C. every year we played them when i was in school...90'-92'. I do like this new region we are going to be in. I love playing A.C and Oak Ridge, now the games are going to have more importance to them. Good luck to the Mavs this year! Like i have said before....i hope they win every game, except the Clinton game! lol!
  6. Has anyone heard when spring practice is going to start?
  7. These are going to be the teams in our new region. Clinton, A.C., Oak Ridge, Halls, Central, Powell, Campbell Co. , Karns, and Hardin Valley.
  8. AC simply reloads every year! AC should have several talented players coming up from their feeder programs that will fill in just fine. I still think Clinton will get AC this year, and Clinton will need to savor the flavor, cause it wont happen again next year.
  9. I think as long as Coach Blade can get more players to come out, he might be able to turn this program around. As an outsider looking in, it seems to me that O.R. doesnt have the amount of talented players they are used to having. Back in the day, there wasnt much difference between 1st and 2nd team players. In my opinion, the talent level has dropped off alot at O.R. in last several years. I dont think even Blade can win at O.R. until he can get more talented players to come out to play. I wish Coach Blade and O.R. the best of luck in turning things around! See you guys in week 9!
  10. As long as everyone can stay healthy, i think region champs is well within our reach.
  11. I agree with you about us needing to find another receiver to go along with Frazier. I think the difference between Clinton having a good season and a great season this year is going to be our defence. Our defence gave up way too many yards last year and needs to improve for Clinton to have a great season this year.
  12. Oak Ridge hires Hillsboro's Scott Blade! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  13. This year's Clinton team is supposed to be one of the best teams Clinton has had in a really long time. Clinton finished 6-5 last season, but return a number of talented players. As a fan, what are your expectations for this year's team?
  14. AC sure has had our (Clinton) number for several years.....but i hope that will change this year. I hope AC wins every game EXCEPT the Clinton game. Good luck to you mighty Mavs!!
  15. I understand where you are coming from BatmanDB. I think playing real good teams does get a team ready for the playoffs. I have read on here that DB will be graduating about 29 seniors or so this year. But im sure DB will have plenty of players to step in and take over next season. DB doesnt rebuild....they just simply reload. I am really looking forward to coming up there....i have never been up there before and have heard it is a great place to watch a high school football game! I usually keep up with DB because they have played Oak Ridge for so many years and we play Oak Ridge every year. That has always been a fun game to watch. I just hope my Dragons show up and give you guys a good game to where you dont regret adding us to your schedule.
  16. I've noticed by some of the posts on here that DB fans dont sound too excited about playing Clinton this year. As for me, i am really looking forward to coming up to Kingsport. I have nothing but the upmost respect for DB's program. I think this is going to be the first meeting ever between these two schools. I can understand why DB fans would rather play Ooltewah or someone like that, but im thinking this will be a good game for both teams to see where they are at early in the season. See you guys in week 1!
  17. Darian Stone #5 and Westin Hazelhurst #2 Clinton
  18. I agree batman....there could be a playoff system and still keep the bowl games too!
  19. That is pretty much what i was thinking too phatcat. I was thinking that A.C. and C.C. were losing several senior players and that might make it tough for them early on in the season. Clinton will have to stay healthy to have a shot at winning the district in my opinion. As long as Halls dont lose kids by going to other schools, i think Halls could be a very good team next year. Central should be alot better next season as well. Powell lost a great QB, but they are usually a strong team. Right now, i think it is too early to really seed the teams. There might be some kids move into the area that might help some of these teams out and some kids might transfer to other schools hurting their team's overall numbers. The kids at Halls need to stick it out and stay. The worst thing they could do is transfer to another school. That would really hurt the program in my opinion. That is what happened at Clinton the last several years. Clinton had players going to other schools and quiting the team just because the team had lost some games. Then the program really went down hill from there. We are just now getting our program built back up to where it should be.
  20. I read in The Courier News that Caleb made the 2008 Tennessee Sportswriters Association All-State team. Region 3-4A All-State Selections were....Halls-Caleb Leonard, Powell-Keir Houston, Clinton-Darian Stone, Maryville-Marcus Englehardt,Cody McCoy, Jefffey Booker.
  21. I have to agree with you Lost Old Dad. I dont know what exactly is going on with the O.R. program, i just hear alot of different things from the people i work with in O.R., but it seems like the problems go a little deeper than just the head coach. Every team eventually goes through a few bad seasons and maybe this is just Oak Ridge's time. I was @ Clinton 90'-91'-92' and O.R. had almost 100 or more players every one of those years. I have seen O.R's numbers decline over the years and it may be contributed to many different things, but i have sure noticed it. What happens if Stevens and the Wildcats go 8-2 or 9-1 and make it to the 3rd or 4th round of the playoffs? Will everyone still want a coaching change or will that be a good enough season to stop all the coaching change talk? Best of luck to O.R next season, until they play Clinton of course! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  22. When i say "turn things around", If you ask any Halls fan i would think that most of them were not happy with the way the season turned out. Maybe you can turn things around and have a better season next year. Im not on here bragging about Clinton beating Halls. Im not going to get on here and bad mouth a program because they have a down year or two.
  23. Well, you didnt kick my butt. We beat you guys 26-0 my senior year. I see what you mean now by saying you dont have anything to win by playing Webb. At first, it just sounded like you didnt want to play them cause you were affraid you were going to lose to them or something. Good luck to you guys next season, hopefully you guys can turn things around and make our district even more difficult than it is already going to be. I can't wait to see you play Oak Ridge and Anderson Co. again........those should be some good games!
  24. With an attitude like that, you deserve to get your butts drilled! What i mean by that is you should have the attitude that you are going to win every game. If you dont think you can beat Webb, then maybe you dont need to play any of the other games either.
