  1. AAU has zero to do with it. If you are a coach and are coaching your player in AAU, Rec ball, Church league or whatever you are eating up the allowed practice time as I layed out in my last post. Of course you may not get caught or turned in if you do get caught. I've seen the pathetic few circumventing the rules as you described - coaching from the stands but this is the exception not the rule. It is these idiots that get the TSSAA cranked up to make more insane rulings that the coaches who are trying to do the right thing have to live by.
  2. You could coach but this would count against the 15 days of practice allowed by the TSSAA. The following is from the TSSAA Handbook page 25 which outlines what a school may do. You may say this is only appling to the school's team but the player-coach interaction falls under the TSSAA definition of "practice" (Practice ??“ Coach and player(s) together with instruction, teaching, coaching, etc.) End of school until summer Dead Period.......................................15 days of practice, 10 of which may involve practice with another school(s). Week preceding July 4 and week of July 4....................................SUMMER DEAD PERIOD End of Summer Dead Period until Monday, week of August 1.......Weight training/conditioning permitted. No open facilities. No practice. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  3. 4 of Marshall County's players average in double figures or right at it. This includes Bryant who is a great 3 point shooter.
  4. Anybody got the list of who made 9AA All District?
  5. I have trouble vizualizing MC having trouble with any of the 9AA teams. March has a dramatic advantage in the post. That being said, if MC lets either CPA or Hume Fogg hang around with them till the fourth quarter they could easily get beat. Both CPA and Hume Fogg have played plenty of close games and have won most of them.
  6. Funny way to "elevate" FRA?? Wish it were different but having seen both teams MIDTN has it about right! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  7. Marshall County by as many as they want. The matchups in this one are absolutely brutal for Ezell.
  8. Did anyone see what happened in the FRA game? I am very suprised that EZ could beat them at home. I looked for them to go a good way into the tournament.
  9. DII A East -Middle per the TSSAA website Davidson, DCA, Ezell, FRA, Kings Academy, Knox Webb, Lancaster Christian, Mt. Juliet Christian, Riverside Christian, St Andrews, St. Cecelia, USN, Zion Christian and Webb Some of these schools are very good; Knox Webb this year has defeated the likes of BA, Ensworth, Olivar Springs etc. running up a 19-2 record. DCA, Davidson, FRA usually have good teams. Some of this group are very weak. Enrollment goes from 78 to 478. I don't think anyone really knows who will be playing who /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> .
  10. The argument that the shot clock should be in place to prepare kids for college is ridiculous. How many kids play high school basketball vs those that continue to play in college?.....relatively few is the answer. High school ball is for all the kids who love basketball and the shot clock will put strategy out the window in place of pure athleticism. In high school smart teams can play with the stars...they don't have to stall but if they can get you to play at their pace they may beat you on certain nights. When they beat you I promise you they are having a good time. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  11. With the first half of the season in the bag it appears CPA has the edge going into the last half of the season with HF right on their heels. The four best teams are CPA, HF, FRA, and DL. I??™m not sure what??™s going on at EL ??“they may come on at the end but right now they are having trouble. EH seems to one dimensional to be there at the end. CPA has 1 loss, FRA has 2, HF has 2, and DL 3 What CPA has is 3 big wins over the other teams in this group-2 over DL and 1 over FRA. HF has 3 also FRA,CPA, DL. FRA has NONE??¦..DL has NONE. This makes for an uphill climb for these schools with 7 games to go. In the last 7 games CPA only faces 2 of the top teams, HF and FRA while HF faces 3, FRA DL and CPA Meanwhile FRA faces 4 and DL 3. FRA letting the HF game get away may really bite them in the end. A record with 2 losses might take it outright. To add to the interest PC , EH, and EL may knock off some at the top at any time. Lots of fun-luck to all over the last 7 games. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  12. What does East Lit have to do to get back on track vs CPA tomorrow? I was suprised to see that EL had lost a week ago to DCA.....doesn't seem possible.
  13. EL and EZ sre playing in local tournaments I believe. CPA goes to Illinois to play.
  14. After getting to see Upperman I agree they are in a class alone. I don't know if Marshall County could beat them or not. My money would be on Upperman. Upperman's top three scorers are it's two senior guards and its 6'-2" junior center. Experience and size at all the right places. Don't know about the other districts but 9AA has plenty of talent but for some reason the cycle is such that almost every team that has good young players lacks experience. Good for the future but not so good for now. For some reason there just aren't teams with experienced good older players. Ross and company graduated from Lipscomb and McAlister and her group graduated from Ezell-Canady and Jackson from FRA were gone this year too. I look for the 9AA teams to be much improved by years end. The move to DII by FRA and Ezell will change the landscape next year- not to mention most of 9AA going to 10 AA except for Hume Fogg. I wouldn't get too excited about the other teams in 7AA except Upperman.
  15. EL has K Cowen currently leading 9AA in scoring per the Tennesseean.
  16. Look at 9.1.3 situation J on page 67 Directly addresses this..... http://www.nfhs.org/custom/copy%20(2)%20of...-08bkbcaseb.pdf
  17. Don't know if it applies to TSSAA but per the IACIO (Inter Association Council of Athletic Officials) one of the free throw violations is: The free thrower shall not have either foot beyond the verticle plane of the edge of the free throw line which is farther from the basket or the three throw semi-circle. So, if the free thrower gets the ball and steps on the semi-circle it would be a violation.
  18. Congrats to FRA on a big win on the road against a good team. EL will be there as the season progresses. This loss maybe their wakeup call. I am very suprised at the margin of CPA and HF. Did anyone see the game?
  19. 9AA gets going with with a couple of key games. CPA hosts Hume Fogg and East Literature hosts FRA Key games for all four schools. David Lipscomb takes on Ezell harding and finally Pearl Cohn travels to MLK. I think CPA will upset HF. EL over FRA although it would not surprise me if FRA won , DL over EZ and PC to beat MLK. Your thoughts?
  20. Evidently the 9AA thread has gone "dark"....but the light will begin to shine next week as CPA and HF square off and FRA takes a shot at East Lit. Surely someone will have a comment before or after these games!
  21. How have 9AA favorites EL, HF and DL done in preseason scrimmages?
