  1. My take on UC's play last night. The 1st quarter and about half of the 2nd quarter it was par for the course. We played about the same as we have been playing. Then suddenly, it was like someone flipped a switch and we became who we have been for the last few years. I saw this happen once before in 2013 in the last 2 minutes of the regular season game against Humboldt. From that point we went 38-0 and won 2 Championships. I believe we will only get better from here on out. I loved the way our guys responded after the win last night. They needed that big time.
  2. BigEd congrats on raising such a fine young man. I know everyone is telling you to thank him for his choice to serve our great nation and I want to do the same. He honors us all. I also have 2 boys serving. One is a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force and the other is about that same rank but he is serving in the Navy. Proud of them both. The only thing I don't like is that they are in other parts of the world and we seldom get to see them. My Sailor, I haven't seen in about 3 years. I hope you don't have that problem. He is stationed in Hawaii at the moment but hopefully I will see him and his wife and daughter (my grandbaby who is only one week old) at Christmas this year. That's what we are hoping for. God Bless your Marine and keep him safe. Semperfi
  3. I know the feeling. Tonight we had moments of greatness and then it was not so great. But once we got into a groove it was like a machine. I am hoping this trend will continue.
  4. What a great game. Once UC figured out a couple of things they started doing what they do. Ground and pound. Feel behind 14-0 in the 2nd quarter and then ground out 21 unanswered points to end up in control of the clock and held the ball with time running out. We started the game sloppy but man did we improve as the game went on. High five to the Tide. You guys played like champions and we will see you again. There were a couple of plays that could have changed the outcome. In the end it was a battle of wills and UC got the best of that battle tonight. No doubt that we will see each other again. Good luck. Go Tornadoes
  5. You ain't tellin me nothing I don't already know. Just keep chuckin it. We are doing great stopping the run. The pass is killing us.
  6. We have something working now. 4th and 4 at the 20 UC Scores. 1:03 to go in the first half. Looking like Tornado football now. Finally. Keep the mistakes down and I see a 4th quarter win.
  7. Unless things change quick we are gonna be in a hole we can't get out of
  8. Start of the 2nd quarter Peabody scores with 11:24 to go. UC doing as much to hurt themselves and help the Tide as Trenton is. We are playing great just making mistakes. If we keep it close I like my Tornadoes in the 4th quarter.
  9. Been here for a while and I have to say that my first impression of Peabody was " Dang! Dem boys are big." We have our work cut out for us.
  10. Bassy I don't know about " multiple scores" . In fact I think it will be close. Until my Tornadoes stop killing themselves with penalties and turnovers, I'm gonna expect close games from here on out. Now for me, I like closer more competitive games. It's just more entertaining for me. I don't like blowouts. Tonight I think we will do enough to win. In the coming weeks we will score more points and begin to separate ourselves in the region. First, we have to kill the 2 headed monster of penalties and fumbles.
  11. Alright Tornadoes IT IS GAME DAY! TIME TO BUCKLE UP AND ROCK SOME HEADS. KEEP GETTING BETTER, STAY ON COURSE, STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL AND NEVER LET UP. The Tide is waiting on you. They are prepared for you. They will play hard. YOU WILL PLAY HARDER. SET YOURSELVES APART FROM THE REST. COME ON TORNADOES, COMPETE PLAY PHYSICAL AND LIMIT THOSE STINKIN FUMBLES. GO TORNADOES!
  12. 6 weeks sucks. I'm sure your team will rally around the backup players and you will still be very competitive. The advantage is that we haven't seen the backup QB and we can only speculate as to what he will bring to the table. Who knows what surprises we are in for. We shall see.
  13. Sorry to hear about Baugus. He looked really good back there running and throwing. I hope he will get back soon. Also the lineman, I saw one on the highlight reel that was dominating his opponent over and over. I assume he's the one you lost. Speedy recovery for both these young men. Hopefully this will not be a continuous situation for you guys. Last year, once we started seeing injuries, it just kept coming. Best of luck.
  14. Cartman you are correct. I hope to get a look at a Tide team at full strength. Their QB looked very solid against Milan and their linemen looked physical and agile. We must contain that young man and watch out for those slippery receivers on the bubble screens. Hopefully we can just pound the football like we are known to do and keep the mistakes to a minimum. I feel like we have improved some since the Mayfield game and can only expect that to continue. We will be fine down the road. It's the present that has me concerned. We have backs that run the ball hard and finish their runs by falling forward more often than not. On defense, we have two solid tackles that can plug a whole with linebackers that are quick to respond to the football. We have to find a way to get more pressure on the QB. I feel pretty good about the rest of the defense so we should compete. I don't know what to think about how little interaction we are having with the Peabody posters. Hopefully everything is going to be okay with the injuries we have heard about.
  15. Looks like the rain will be gone long before game time. Not sure how the field will be. No doubt it will be wet and muddy. You guys keep your secrets out of the public pretty good. No one has mentioned who is injured. For all we know everyone will be playing for the Tide tomorrow night so that's who we are preparing for. Watched some highlights on max the prep website. Trying to word that in a way so that my post wouldn't say unapproved website. You guys llooked very solid. We will have our hands full.
  16. Well lookie here. We got us a newbie. Purpledrank, I like your user name but we don't need your input on last week's game. No matter how you slice it, your team lost. We, Tide and UC fans are having a conversation about this week's game. Thanks for supporting my Tornadoes but keep your comments a little more respectful please.
  17. If I know one thing, it's that Bowling will prepare for Peabody as if they are at full strength. He won't be concerned with anything else. I hope the injuries are not season ending.
  18. I don't blame you for not sharing names. I know I would'nt. I wish the INjured players a quick recovery. Hopefully the Tide will be back at full strength soon.
  19. Wow. It got quiet in here after the injury announcement. Just saying.
  20. Dang pride. I hate to hear that. We had a season full of injuries last year. I've never seen anything like it before. We have some guys banged up a little bit but they can still play. Hopefully your boys won't be down long if any at all. Maybe it's not as bad as it sounds.
  21. I like what you said Peabodypride. I appreciate the way you brought the spirit of both teams into your post. Good stuff. I am concerned about the weather though. If we get the amount of rain they are calling for along with thunderstorms I'm not sure how it's gonna effect either team. I don't want a Saturday game or have the game delayed for lightning. The possibility of either of those does exist. Hopefully we can get it done without any of those issues.
  22. I will tell you right now that UC is not the #1 2A team in the state. I don't think so anyway. I believe we will be in a few weeks. Friday night against Peabody will go a long way in defining that. I believe we are more like the middle of the pack. Don't get me wrong, I believe we are a very good football team that is improving every week. I also believe that by seasons end we will be the best in the state. But now. ...... we are in the middle.
  23. I'm not sure if I want it to rain or not. It's usually to our advantage if it rains but. .....well we have to hold on to the ball better even when it's not raining let alone when it's sopping wet. Right now I'm watching a defensive practice and the guys are getting after it pretty good. Plenty of excitement on the field. The guys seem to be in good spirits. We will have to be. Go Tornadoes
