  1. I beg to differ with both jeffcojoe and volunteer man. First of all, volunteer man, I doubt you know anything about Catholic football. This isn't the proper place to discuss it but there is no recruiting involved whatsoever. No scholarships, no money, no nothing. Being a private school, we have to pay for our school buildings, teachers/coaches salaries, utilitites, etc. So where would we have the money to pay kids to play at catholic? Harrison smith and alot of those guys have come straight through the catholic schools systems. Others came to catholic for a better education which seems to make sense since we are one of 8 or so schools in the knoxville area that are not falling behind NCLB standards. You're just mad that you aren't winning more than 3 games a year Jeffcojoe, I do agree that some changes will have to be made eventually, maybe the AD needs to go? I'm not sure. But I don't believe in switching coaches after a year or two, especially when they bring a new system in and they have players who haven't had great coaching before. My point is, it's a lot easier coming in to coach maryville then it is heritage. You already have discipline and talent that has been developed. And this is definitely not the worst times Jeff co has been through or the biggest mess or whatever you are saying. Do you mean to tell me that the Euvard/petition/lawsuit days were better than this? give me a break. There is light at the end of the tunnel and next year is going to be a lot better if the kids buy into the program that the coaches are bringing and maybe if the school buys into a weight coach Ps. That is a big amount of injuries but Mcfall's came in a game last year-it happens. The other QB's happened in practice when he was playing a position he was unfamiliar with for who knows what reason and just various others. But no, I do not believe it is uncommon. Last year at catholic, there were 6 ACL tears alone. And several other injuries. I just believe it is a growing trend in high school football- people going for the legs and getting twisted around too much.
  2. wowwhat a quiet board for the playoffs... we must have the wind knocked out of us.
  3. No i do agree that Seymour worked their way in. They got 3rd in their district as you said and I believe several of their losses were to good teams by 4 or less points. I'm just saying some of the records for the teams don't match up (white co. at 1-9 for example) I seriously do believe jeff deserved to be in the playoffs this year but it might prove to be some good motivation heading into next year. And I don't really hate morristown west, I just hope we beat them badly again. Their runningbacks look good though. Especially the sophomore.
  4. This is from the bearden post game board. Unreal. This might prove my point
  5. Hey Euler, please stay positive. This is the worst year in catholic football since 2002 or so. But hey it happens. We are in the playoffs. Records don't matter now. The team just needs to come together and play. Quit being selfish and thinking ahead. Do it for your team, not yourself. And yes this catholic team is dangerous, really they are. They have the athletes but sometimes they look like 7th graders playing football. You have to complete the passes, gain yards on busted plays, get 1st downs/touchdowns in the redzone, and you can't quit and we all know that some of the boys have already quit on their team and themselves. All the fans know who you are, its obvious, so for the sake of saving yourself personal embarrassment, pick it up.
  6. Well I hate morristown west and ironically thats who we (catholic, hence irish423) are playing in the first round. I cant wait to play you all after watching you play against jeff and hearing all the trash talking you have been doing on here. And patriots, I'm sorry that you had to be the victim of a faulty playoff system. Somehow we finished 5-5 and got a 6 seed but you all didn't get anything, just an example of the mess of a system. (and seymour who finished 4-6 made it too wow) Anyways, keep your heads up, work hard, and make it there next year. The talent is there. We will see about the will power next fall
  7. The chance for a "fresh start" for the Irish. Having lost 3 of their last 4 games, they really do need it. 2005 livingston academy anyone?
  8. You all are idiots, especially you morristown guys. Jeff Co. will not be good for a while because of the splits in the "jeff co. family." They can be good. They have the talent but they are lacking in size and spirit and let me tell you one thing right now, its because of you parents. Don't you think for a second that it's not. I've gone to games this year and people yell at other family's kids, the coaches, and everyone else. The patriots could have won 2 or 3 more games this year. I feel like they could have won bearden, sevier co, and mo west. Bearden didn't out match the patriots by much, they just could hold onto the football. Since the chances of making the playoffs are very low to none, I have several suggestions for the off season. 1.) Ball security drills 2.) Lineman sled and other drills, the linemen are small and sometimes slow. Would love to see them be better. That would make a phenomenal difference 3.) Hire a Weight Coach 4.) DITCH THE VEER 5.) Keep your coach 6.) Make Goins make lots of throws to moving targets on the run since thats all he ever does or install some plays where he is out of the shotgun. The difference would be remarkable. I promise. 7.) Try and develop the running backs because the backs right now are small and slower compared to most others. 8.) Learn how to utilize your athletes- Mason, Goins, Ausmus, etc. I feel like i'm in the same boat over at my school trying to finish up 6-4 or whatever they are going to be. They might make the playoffs but not a huge run. Let me tell you all one thing- At catholic, they have a lot (well 5 seniors this year probably) of athletes that may go on to play in college. Jefferson co. does not have that many right now, but there are some boys on that team that have a lot of potential to play further down the road. And one thing that they had that Catholic didn't have this year is heart. those final 5-6 games of the year, you all came together as a team and started to play good football. See what can happen when you put some things together? Don't listen to all these morristown guys because they don't know what they are talking about. They just want to try and run you all into the ground. Keep your heads up, put heart into it, stay out of trouble and get better and you all could make a deep playoff run next year. Good luck to the patriots. I'd like to see you all make the playoffs next year
  9. so umm... catholic vs. bearden....
  10. I'm not making excuses. Most of us were pretty pleased with our performance through 7 innings in that game. 7 runs off 14 hits against two good pitchers. We knew you all were one of the best (if not the best) in the state. I'm not saying that Farragut isn't good. We all know farragut is good. Really good. But slow down. The season is not over. In fact it hasn't even started, so don't write checks you can't cash. If its supposed to happen it will. I wouldn't be surprised because they are a good team year in and out and so on... everyone knows. But this team will most likely not be as good as the two teams that went 82-8. So many great seniors were on that team last year, it will be hard to make up for them. Thats all I'm saying.
  11. I don't have much to be arrogant about do I? Im asking in all seriousness, what are the chances of seeing AC in the playoffs. Or what would have to happen. This mess is so confusing to me. And for the record I don't believe i was on the side of arrogance as much as i was on the defense of KC football.
  12. Idk about winning.... but he was a great great great asset to that team. I hate to hear about season ending injuries but at least this kid has another year. He has awesome size and speed and could/should be a top prospect.
  13. One last chance for Catholic to make a point before the playoffs start and a game that I know both schools have wanted to play for years.
  14. Let me point out a few things A.) It was 26-8. B.) After 7 innings, we pulled our varsity (10-7) so you can feel good about the 16 runs your varsity put up against our JV. C.) You pitched pfeifer for 4, thorson for 5 and some other kid for 1. Pfeifer= 7 hits. Thorson= 7 hits. Other kid= 0. (Sorry "other kid" i don't know you're name) 14 hits in 7 innings off two of your best pitchers, thats not a bad ball game. D.) we didn't have our catcher back from basketball yet, taylor broussard. E.) We pitched 7 pitchers for 1-2 innings each. So was it in no way "domination" during the varsity vs. varsity scrimmage part. But Stallings, Powell, Williams, Thorson, Bennett and so on hitting against some younger pitchers at the end wasn't going to be too much of a challenge. And a question. That game, in i think the 7th inning... Nicky D came into catch and he caught a pop up for the second out, and then limped off to the dugout and was out of the game. What happened to him?
  15. what are the chances of seeing you in the playoffs oppressed?
  16. how about the no hitter thrown against you by sophmore chris hamilton last year on your own field in sportsbelle?!? You have Cade, Curt, Nicky, Williams, Thorson, Tyno, Bennett, and you get no hit by a sophomore? (Not to take anything away from Chris, he's a good pitcher/kid) That is a lineup that features maybe 6 D-1 guys and you didn't get a hit. That proves that any team can lose to anyone. Bearden was good don't get me wrong, but to say that you are dominant over everyone in state. Psh
  17. I'd have to say that the pemberton version of the Wing-T backed by 11 years of running it in feeder schools was a lot harder to defend then the spread with <1 year of experience. Seems logical to me All I'm saying is most people's (including mine) expectations were too high before the season. There were lots of factors involved with the new year that they had not experienced before. The players are not as disciplined and don't play as the team which they used to do. Thats all it comes down too. Maybe they were complacent after finally getting their rings, who knows? I just want to see them coming out to play for each other. They have some stellar players, but clearly it doesn't matter a bit if you can't seal the deal.
  18. Give SM a break... he walked into a situation that was a nearly impossible winning situation. Sure he had great talent but he walked in after a state title and undefeated season and the road winning streak and all that. Expectations were way high. And then the worst thing maybe to ever happen to catholic football was the spread. And you would figure with all the athletes they have that it would work, it just has not gone as planned. The players are not 100% comfortable and it is a lot easier to defend, especially in high school, than the wing-t. The classification change was big because you go from playing teams that are actually your own size instead of schools that are 3 and 4 times your size. And lastly, He doesn't know exactly what his players are capable of doing until now as the season wears on also, how can he count on kids to pull through in difficult situations when he hasn't watch them progress from year to year? Like he said he might have been out-coached last night, but you can't just attack the man. If anyone expected another perfect season ending with another ring, you were either highly optimistic or way over confident.
  19. I bet you a dollar they don't finish in the top 10 this year. Probably out of the top 50. They might win state but it's up in the air, a lot more than last year. They are good, but it won't be the same as in years past. Farragutuniversity is going to have some "super witty" comeback on here so I'm just waiting for it. I like a lot of the farragut guys too. It's sad to have someone as close-minded as you on here.
  20. I do not know what happened in this game, I wasnt there. But i can say that while heritage does have some play makers (cermak comes to mind) there is no way that a team with as much talent as catholic should lose this ball game. There is no way that they should lose all the ball games they have. maybe 1 or 2. I don't know if it is a matter of way too much over-confidence or just sheer lack of execution, but I know that none of us irish faithful want to be looking forward to basketball early. Congratulations Heritage, you played well and deserved to win the game.
  21. and how do i go about emailing you coacht? I tried to do it earlier but it said I could not.
  22. With a balanced attack, good conditioning, maybe more substitutions, discipline, and good play, the Irish will be unstoppable. Until they get it figured out, it might be some hard fought wins and losses. I will never pick against my irish, but sometimes they do seem to keep themselves out of ball games. I have full faith in Coach Meadows, Coach Corrum, Coach Wharton, etc. They are all knowledgeable coaches and sure, they make wrong calls, but who doesn't? (Except coach T ) When someone tells me a coach who makes all the right calls, then I might as well retire from the boards, they will dominate football so why even play the game? The athletes are there. Tyler is a versatile QB who can escape pressure in the pocket and has the arm to throw the bombs down the field or a bullet across the middle. There have been instances where he has stood completely still and pressure has gotten to him or he has thrown on the run, but you know what? this is high school, not the NFL. This kid is a great, GREAT athlete who could play nearly anywhere on the field (except OT/OG maybe) Dorian Cozart is one of the best backs I have ever seen. I've seen Rogan, Harrison, McFadden, and several others. He is as good as any of them. He is fast, quick and powerful. He always falls forwards and he isn't scared of contact. Cody Shirley is a hard, hard runner. He is strong and powerful and can be classified as a runningback or fullback, yet he is faster than the average fullback. Michael Bonfini can line up at RB or WR and he's talented. He's quick and has excellent skills on the field. He is a shut down corner as well. Andrew Kropilak is strong strong strong. He has been picked on because of size at times, but this kid can lay the wood and run the ball. He never quits on a play. Spencer Mackle is often double teamed or draws extra attention at WR. He's fast, tall, and has excellent hands and athleticism. Zak Tait is big. He will bust through the line on defense and pancake you on offense. 6'5 300lbs. He is faster than the average lineman too. John Andrew McDermott never leaves the field. He's the real FB who never ever gives up on a play. He is an athlete who is first down the field on kickoffs and punts, is grinding out the extra few yards at the end of a run, is making the tackle on the other side of the field, and is always ready to go for the next play. these are just a few of the players that should explain why Catholic has so much potential. It is up to the coaches and the players to determine how far they can go with this because I promise if they get started, they will be hard to stop. I know they can pull together and get through it all, they just need to play together. Be a team. Play with a chip on their shoulder. Be the best they can be. I love you all. I'm done on coacht. I just wanted to tell everyone how I felt. It's been fun mixing it up with you oppressed, white house fans, turtle, and webb fans. I know who a lot of you catholic fans are- shamrock, irishbball, happyhour22, scottA11 and it's been fun defending our irish on here.
  23. I'd say that Bearden will have a tough year this year, they have some solid juniors and seniors this year with lots of varsity experience-especially pitching. BUT new coach and they lost a lot of very good seniors. Farragut has reloaded. They have 2-3 potential draft picks and 4-5 D-1 players. Catholic will be better than a lot of people think. Halls has a lot of people returning. Jared Burton is getting some looks and so is Garrett Gresham. They are both great players and kids. Powell has Austin Below at catcher and has a great team around him. Those two will definitely be the front runners in 3AAA.
  24. farragut. Would love to see my irish there too
