  1. I was at the last game against Bearden, and like you said, the fans start off cheering like everyone else and as soon as a mistake is made you hear yelling and screaming at the players and coaches and it is absolutely ridiculous. when u say "pounding" i hope you dont mean the run up the middle because in my opinion there was not much there to work with. If you want to run the ball, id look into screens, pitches, and the option. Passing would probably need some play actions and just whatever you all did against Bearden. and PLEASE!!!!!! PLEASE DON'T TURN THAT BALL OVER!!!!!!!
  2. This post is unbelievably dead. I'm quite disappointed.
  3. Dorian Cozart- RB- fast. 4.5 range. 211 yards and 3 td in last game. Better from the spread than wing T of last year. D-1 prospect. Tyler Williamson- QB/DB- punishing on defense, can make plays with his arm and might need to make a few adjustments with scrambling, but overall a solid player. Spencer Mackle- All state receiver. 6'2" 180-190. Great hands-fast-punt returner. Patrick Haun- WR 6'2" Michael Bonfini- best know for his defensive skills but a very quick runner. Reed Bacon- 6'1" receiver with pretty good skill set. Cody Shirley- great RB- more of a power back with quickness? hmm... tough to bring down- was a FB in the old Wing-T. LB and he will lay a lick and make the routine plays. He will beat the RB to the corner in a lot of cases. Zak Tait-OL/DL- everyone knows about him. Zach Cooper- 6'1" or 2" big guy who isn't afraid to push some people out of the way. Davis Coulter- Center- strong kid who is a consistent player. 2 year starter. Jake Faris- Fast. Torn ACL last year in preseason, hammy injury early and ready to go now. Adam Casey-LB. Hard hitter. Luke Mishu-K- endzone about every time. Can make a field goal from 60 in practice- game situation? hmm... These are just a few of the players. A lot of them are new or I haven't seen much of them. Now how about you all?
  4. Broussard-AKA Mr. Clutch- might be the most underrated catcher in Knoxville or even Tennessee as a whole.
  5. Devrin seemed to really be upset. He'd get two yards or loss of 4 or no gain or a few inches and he was losing it! He was throwing his little tantrums and pushing around the jeff co guys. I'm sure there was talking on both sides, but the Patriots really did do a good job of containing him. He only had 1 big run and 1 big catch. Other than that a pretty mediocre night in my opinion. Well, for him at least. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2009/aug/29/youngs-runs-plenty-for-bearden-24-3/ according to the article Mr. Young had 107 yards.
  6. cisco carter from 47 @ jeff co.
  7. Yeah no kidding, where is everyone?!? This will be great game. This will really be a proving ground for Catholic. And Farragut as well. I'm excited to see if catholic can get their spread running a little more efficiently and if Farragut really is THAT GOOD.
  8. This team can go far- I'm telling you they are good enough to. But if they do things like last night I don't know if they will win.
  9. What do you think about this new rivalry? Thursday night I believe?
  10. I went to the game. Brutal football-thats all i can say. I honestly believe that either team could have won this game. Somehow Bearden comes out on top by what? 20+ points? There were at least 6 fumbles and an interception on Jeffs part. Devrin Young was contained pretty well for what everyone thought would/could be a field day. I'm not sure on the final numbers but not many long runs, (one for 40 yard TD or so) and there were some hard hits put on him. He was limping around at the end of the game. And I couldnt believe this part!!!!! 8 minutes left on the clock and the score is 24-3 Bearden. DEVRINS IN THE GAME!!!!!! Dumb move Bearden. Jeff Co. has some real athletes but also some serious problems. The star of the field? Anthony Goins. Great player. He has the speed and quickness to escape pressure in the pocket and the arm to make throws on the run. Great vision down the field as well. As for the wide receivers- they made some great catches in traffic and across the middle, but the wide open passes were the ones they would drop or misread. These guys were pretty athletic though. The line had trouble blocking Beardens pass rush especially in the second half. The offense was really good-especially early. They moved the ball all over Bearden in the first quarter only to have drives stall within 20 yards. Dumb penalties and fumbles KILLED THEM! First touchdown of the game was by a Bearden DT who scooped up a fumble and ran the whole 5 yards to the endzone. The Defense could keep this team in games, but if the offense is giving them only 20 yards to defend every time-especially after being on the field just a minute or two earlier- then this could be a long year. Tough injuries throughout the game. People taking cheap shots at each other late. Just stupid. Way to get a kid hurt Bearden-dont worry about blind-siding a kid not in the play. And an unfortunate injury for Bearden early with their TE/DE with a bad leg injury. Hope he's okay. Just some thoughts from the game. Bearden won obviously, no griping about the W/L, just some things from the game I thought you all would like knowing. Just my opinions and I'm still a little fired up.
  11. In my opinion, Catholic has one of the best kicking/punting units in the state. (Of course I'm biased) They have an extra point kicker who went 4 for 4 against Rhea and was very consistent last year (Jarod Julies) A soccer player for the kickoff and long field goals- (0-1 on a short field goal from the left hash) against Rhea but 3 touch backs and a squib kick. Has 1 career start in high school football. Last year while at a baseball game, I noticed this kid putting them through the uprights from 60, yes 60 yards out. The punter is a special kid-6'8" spencer roth. This kid puts the up for a long time and can cover a lot of distance. Overall, very well rounded on special teams. Cisco Carter!?! how has no one mentioned him yet? Won both the kickoff and punt contest at the jamboree and has an incredible leg. (Bearden for those that don't know)
  12. Knox Catholic moving up this year from 3A-5A, id say they have probably one of the toughest schedules. @Rhea co. @Farragut Austin-East William Blount @Webb @Lenoir City Maryville West @Heritage Bearden not only are all of these teams playoff contenders (I mean heritage and west are even pretty good this year) but KC has not played 8 of these teams in a season or play-off game. (They've played west in a scrimmage) just my 2 cents.
  13. Logan Rice has actually become a pretty good friend of mine lately. I've played against him a few times and talked to him various places, but yes i definitely agree this kid is a player. Unicoi's pitcher of the year i believe? I dont know much about the others from unicoi. And yes! how could i forget Gibbs? Gibbs has a huge returning group. The ever-versatile Cody Armstrong and the star pitcher from last year in Willis are back. A lot of talent returning in that group as a whole. And also forgot Austin Below from Powell. How could I forget him? Hits the ball hard and one heck of a catcher as well. He's made huge strides from when I played with him his sophomore year. More will come.
  14. Hey 423, You forgot 2 All District players from last years team. McDermott 3B and Broussard C will both be seniors. McDermott batted over .400 in state tourney last year. Like i said, more coming! McDermott is a player. In fact i think he hit nearly 800 in the tourney. could be wrong, but he was ON FIRE. Broussard is an incredible athlete and I look for great things out of him. Probably one of the most underrated catchers in all of tennessee. Mr. Clutch. The senior class as a whole should be one of the best to ever come out of catholic. How about over at CAK, AC, and Farragut? I know these programs normally have a few good people going out of their program each year. Garrett Gresham and Jared Burton from Halls are both quality players. Burton is a good lefty with power at the plate and some good pitches. Gresham is FAST and can play anywhere in the outfield. He has a pretty good bat also. Most importantly, these two kids are great people too. More coming...
  15. Thats always terrible when one of your players battles a nagging injury. Hope he gets to play.
  16. I dont even know if those guys are Catholic fans??????? I've never seen them on our boards? hmm... well you know we aren't all classless as someone mentioned earlier in the post. Anyways, I have a question that maybe one of you Rhea Co folks can give me the answer to. In either the first or second quarter, one of your men had to be carried to the sideline on the shoulders of some other guys. I think i saw him sitting in the ambulance at half. Who was that and what happened? how long will he be out if at all?
  17. I would say that Clinton has a very realistic chance at beating DB. Too many athletes and we saw a team that is imo a little more talented cruise to an easy win over DB tonight. I'm not counting them out by any means because like dragon said, they are DB. I wonder when the last time a DB team started off 0-2 was? What do you have to say about all this WaCoJaCo?
  18. Yes that's just ridiculous. No respect. You arent the only one.
  19. I just want to clarify that the na na na na chant was to the people riding the parents bus that were walking toward the field-they (the Catholic cheering section aka CCC) thought they were leaving the game early. And thank you, I agree. I believe both groups of fans were very classy. (maybe because they were separated i don't know haha) but this was a great game to be at and very fun. Great QB to watch for Rhea and Cozart put on a great performance.
  20. Well there were major struggles the first quarter, especially for Catholic. The offense drove down the field after the kick off on Cozart's shoulders. The drive stalls out at the 3 and missed field goal. Rhea gets on offense and drives down the field with a long HB pass and run an out pattern in the endzone to score a quick 6 and then misses the PAT. End of 1. In the second quarter, Catholic scores on a long Dorian Cozart run and a second time on a Spencer Mackle touchdown reception. What really gave Catholic new life in my opinion was the hard running by Andrew Kropilak while Cozart was out. He moved Catholic down the field a good ways and when he came out that drive, Catholic was on Rhea's 40 or so. Mackles reception sparked the Irish and defense got a lot better and Catholic started handling both sides of the ball. Rhea's QB and RB were the two main players that gave Catholic problems. In the second quarter, they started to work together to contain them. Like someone else said, they ran a lot of the same plays over and over. Or variations of the same ones. Catholic came out in the second quarter and started bringing pressure from everywhere and gave their QB some fits. A long Dorian Cozart run with 4 broken tackles gave the Irish the 28-6 lead. He finished with 211 yards. Rhea had trouble passing. They threw the deep ball 4 or 5 times tonight and did not complete a single one. They did however utilize the flats and short little crossing routes. Towards the end Williamson made two people pay while crossing the middle though. The running back wasn't super fast, but he was a hard runner and hard to bring down-especially early on. Thats just what I've got. Anyone else?
  21. God bless the family AND like someone said, the players, coaches, and fans. I can't imagine what it must have been like for all of them. It really puts things into perspective. We're praying at Catholic
  22. anymore predictions on the greeneville-Jeff co. game? I'm going to go 31-28 Jeff. I say that.... Jeff capitalizes on some turnovers and their QB makes some good plays to get the offense rolling early. I bet that Greeneville comes out ready to "get revenge" for last year, but makes some dumb mistakes early. Just a guess. I haven't seen either team this year. Jeff will be substantially better than last year though with talented juniors coming up.
  23. I say, the Irish come out pumped up and ready to go and their offense works a lot better than the jamboree and they move the ball down the field several times. On defense however, maybe give up a big play or two in the first half. In the second half, KC will come out and run the offense a lot better-first time in a full game and they will be a lot more comfortable with each other on the field-both on defense and offense. I say catholic wins this one 45-28. It's just a stab in the dark. I know what those boys are capable of doing with those athletes. But the games I've watched I just haven't seen all of it yet. I think we will tomorrow night. At the same time all i know about Rhea is what was on the scouting report by Rhea co. so I'm not sure how these guys will match up. Have a safe trip KC fans and I'll see you Eagles fans tomorrow night.
