  1. The emergence of Rodgers as a top notch SEC baseball player at UT is especially gratifying. I remember how a poster, whose team's QB was headed for the SEC, belittled him for not having any D1 football offers. I responded that it meant nothing because all the schools knew he was going to play baseball not football at the next level. Then he went out and destroyed that poster's team in a playoff game.
  2. MUS was not deep, was battered at the end of the season and no longer a top team.. Unless they could have gotten into a thrashing match with crutches.... Hope you are still reading because I wanted to congratulate you on setting a CoachT record for "longest troll" that likely will never be broken. Your fingertips must be black and blue. It was hilarious how long it took posters to realize you were repetitively "yanking their chains" and how some never did. BTW it may amaze you that I didn't get around to reading this thread until today and did so from start to finish without a break. Then I took a very long hot bath. In rubbing alcohol. LOL
  3. First of all, I think the bloggers that start these IFL "pissing contests" should be taken out and flogged before being shot. My personal belief is that if you choose to participate, it's best just to name your top ten alphabetically and leave it at that. That being said, some context to your above statement is needed for fairness. The MUS team that WHS beat in 2001 went 8-4 overall and 4-3 vs DII. The 2003 MUS team also lost but went 4-7 overall and 2-5 vs DII. In other words, the Owls were not the "cream" of DII those years. Moreover, those games were played only because they were part of the defunct Bridges Classic. Public schools will never understand why the privates get so frustrated over the lack of interplay between the 2 divisions. The better teams really do have to scramble just to get a 10 game schedule and almost always have to travel OOS to do so, which can get expensive. I don't remember off hand the last time MUS didn't have to play 3 OOS games. It's a shame that MUS, BA, MBA and EHS can't get more games with the better public teams, not because it would prove any pecking order, but because it would be tremendous HS football.
  4. I have a story to tell, also from my deceased friend, but propriety of course forbids me from specifics. Suffice it say that in the last decade, the father of a budding superstar at CBHS demanded certain "perks" in order for his son to remain at CBHS. To his credit, Locastro told the player to pack it up. The unbelievable part is that he actually tried to transfer to MUS, not realizing (like many) that MUS is much tougher academically and has a daunting day long entrance exam to boot, which this kid, a marginal student at CBHS, could not have passed in a thousand years! However, he ended up at a public school and did fine there.
  5. Their last really good QB was Jordan Rodgers, who just had a breakout season in baseball at UT. Before that Toby Baker, who is now a 5th year punter at Arkansas and very likely to be in the NFL next year. And of course Barry Brunetti was the great dual threat QB of the 2 nationally ranked undefeated state champs in 2008-2009
  6. You are absolutely correct about the situation at CBHS. I had it bass-ackwards or whatever the expression is....The baseball coach was the problem not Locastro. Hope I didn't upset any of his supporters.
  7. Since you asked.... The MUS team that beat South Panola 29-0 in late September was NOT the team that limped across the finish line, barely beating Briarcrest and CBHS - games they easily could have lost - and losing to Baylor. This was not an elite MUS team and never a contender. Before the injuries set in, I agreed with a poll in October that had them ranked behind BA and MBA. Then they had a superlative defense headed by arguably the best group of linebackers in the state but only a mediocre offense directed by a streaky, mediocre one-dimensional (passing) QB. But they didn't have the depth of past MUS elite teams. Many players played both ways. (None of the MUS gold ballers of the last 15 years had any 2 way players) Then they lost 2 of their top 3 linebackers for the season. One that avoided the injury bug - a 10th grader named Hopkins - ended up being named Mr. Football. The QB injured his shoulder and was out for the month of October and never fully recovered. Moreover, he re-injured it before the Baylor game, but was forced to play because the backup QB - who was also their top DB - was out with an ankle injury suffered in the CBHS game, which helped the Bros rebound from an early 14-0 deficit to take the lead and almost win. As to the Baylor game. I've already mentioned how gimpy the Owls were. Historically, they have beaten more talented/athletic teams due to their discipline and execution. Both of these were hugely lacking in this game. It was by far their worst played game of the season and perhaps of the last decade. They far surpassed any previous 2016 game in the number of penalties and penalty yardage. They lost the "TO battle." They were recovering a Baylor fumble on the 2 yard line line when an MUS player inadvertently kicked the ball out of the other player's arms and directly to a Baylor player. Baylor kicked a FG. The only Baylor TD was on a 3rd and 17 pass against an inexperienced 10th grader subbing for their best DB who as I mentioned above was not playing. Off sides, motion, holding, etc penalties one after another. It was an absolute circus. MUS "shot themselves in the foot" so many times that the local ERs were probably overflowing after the game. LOL To their credit, Baylor took advantage of this and did just enough to win the game. The only good thing was avoiding likely being humiliated at home by BA the next week. As far as 2017. I cant' believe they won't be a contender - unless they suffer again from a lack of depth and the resulting susceptibility to injuries. I'm not close to the program so i don't know about depth. Any QB has to be an improvement. They have 3 legitimate Mr Football candidates in Hopkins, Hampton and Collins. They have a rising 10th grader 6'4" 280 lb beast in Henderson. The 3 "H" players will all be FBS at next level. Hampton (rising junior) already has an offer from LSU. One of those 2 injured LBs will return. Their 2 best DBs will return. So they have the nucleus of potentially a very good team, certainly the favorite in the West. BTW i completely agree with your comment about CBHS football. However great BBall, baseball, soccer and wrestling teams every year. FWIW, a now deceased friend of mine who was close to CBHS, told me that former coach Locastro frowned on or even totally boycotted his players from playing other sports. Forced to make a choice, some of their best athletes chose baseball over football because they arguably had a better chance of playing at the next level in baseball. Thus, their FB team suffered. (He told me about a fireballer pitcher who could chuck a football 50 yards). This ostensibly had a large part with his being fired. Just what I was told.....
  8. Baylor was not a better team than MUS. They did win the game, which is all, that counts. You often make the comment "it depends on which team shows up" or whether a team "brings its A game." Please read the post I make in about 10 minutes. I agree that it would be highly unlikely CBHS or MUS would lose to a I-A team, but I do think they, especially LAusanne, could be "competitive."
  9. Agree with this with one caveat - the MUS team that finished the season decimated by injuries not the one that beat USP in late September.
  10. Clueless to the end. I have made no comments about the merits of any player, absolute or relative. I have not agreed or disagreed with anything you posted. I took issue with you before because you refused to answer a simple question to identify the name or school of a player you were discussing. For what twisted reason I'll never know. I have taken issue with you here because you came onto the thread of a championship game and asserted that a player on one team, who was just named Mr Football, would basically be a bench warmer for the other team. Etc. Your comments were snarky, gratuitous, uncivil. Unseemly at best and, after the game, pretty ludicrous too. A decent person would have kept that opinion to himself. And the most pathetic thing is you have no clue why anybody would confront you about your comments, on any level. However, I think just about everybody on CoachT "gets it" and understands that you are as I described.. KWC, who is considered one of the most knowledgeable, fair and respected posters in West TN, actually did disagree with you. You then called him a "biased" "buffoon" ""clown" and a lot of other things. Who has a issue dealing with those who disagree with them? Look in the mirror, bud.
  11. Your self delusion is pathological. Your life must be pathetically lonely. You couldn't possibly have many friends. Self righteous pedants rarely do. You are one of those losers that can't stand it when somebody disagrees with you. You always have to be "right." Well, there is no "right" or ""wrong" when it comes to OPINIONS. I never even voiced an opinion about your guy Walker on the other thread because I didn't know who he was. i merely asked you to tell me his full name and/or team so i could investigate him for myself and you chose not to tell me but instead go on a self righteous rant. On this thread I have voiced no opinion about the players either. I don't give a rats' behind who is or isn't the best RB. However, the player who has the most total yards, or the fastest time in the 40, or the most FBS scholarship offers is NOT necessarily Mr. Football, the MVP or the best player on the field. If that were the case, then nobody's opinion, including your self vaunted one, would matter anyway. It would all be based on the stats of choice. Mr. Howard may well turn out to be the greatest HS RB in TN history. He certainly has ample time to prove it. And garner all the accolades and awards you think he wrongfully has been denied . In your arrogance you actually can't understand how anybody could possibly take exception or find offense in your assertion that the newly named Mr Football and soon to be named MVP would only be the 4th best RB on the Webb team. And of course behind your guy Walker too. That's why i joined in on page 16. i w as sick and tired of your endless BS. BTW, with your great omniscience and superior knowledge of football, you predicted Lausanne would lose by at least 14 points, yet they won despite 4 TOs including a TD fumbled away in the end zone. Whatwhatwhat? How do spell W-R-O-N-G??? And Walker wasn't nominated. And Howard didn't win. Your ego must be reeling. Put the gun down, man! it ain't worth it! Get some professional help. it's called "personality disorder" and they can help you. LOL
  12. Stating that Mr Gray would be the 4th string RB at Webb and only 5th or 6th best RB in IIA was pretty insulting. No need to keep it up. You already are the biggest windbag joke on CoachT. My God you are so full of yourself.
  13. You are exactly what I stated you are because you think your opinion is superior to those of everybody else, including all the people who voted for Mr Football and the MVP of the title game. What I found most comical was your assertion that you were unbiased and that those who disagreed with you were biased. Such over the top BS.
  14. For more background on your "sparring partner," go to the Division II blog and read the entries under "Mr Football Semifinalists" several weeks ago. This guy is a piece of work.
  15. I have never read posts on CoachT more arrogant and condescending than yours. If you actually are a coach - and I fear you are - I pity the players under you.
  16. MUS should be a contender next year.
  17. I agree that BA is a harder game but base that on personal observation not some subjective poll. IMO Baylor over MUS by 12 is rather ludicrous, but anything can happen on the field on a given night. Moreover, MUS has lost some key defensive players and possibly their starting QB to injuries. I'm pretty sure that OOS games are not included in the schedule ranking, which tends to underrate MUS and especially CBHS, who split 2 games against highly ranked teams from Ohio (Cincy LaSalle) and Missouri (St Louis CBHS). MBA by 33? We'll see Friday night.
  18. Well, it's apparent by now that YOU are that "sensitive little fella" who doesn't understand how things work. Most normal rational people, when they start talking out of the blue about a PLAYER, at least mention the TEAM he plays for, whether they give a first name or not. That's really just common sense. Otherwise, readers like me who don't already know who he is can learn his identity and investigate him on their own. Yet after making that simple request in my 1st post (#8), rather then responding like a normal rational person "Jayden Walker at DCA," you didn't answer my QUESTION (not a "critique") and became defensive and snarky. Your last post confirms that you are an anal pore, which really was the problem all along.
  19. I haven't debated a thing. My only issue is that I had ZERO idea of whom you were talking about because I'm not a member of your club and you assumed that everybody reading a blog about Mr Football nominees automatically knew who "Walker" was and what school he played for. You're obviously incapable of understanding that. Did the list of nominees only include their last names? without their schools? Why not? Isn't it common knowledge? Shouldn't everybody know these things?
  20. So you were only sharing sour grapes with your buds and not actually making a statement to the public in general. How difficult would it have been simply to say "Walker at DCA" ? You know not everybody who reads this blog follows DCA, IIA or lives in Nashville. Preaching to the choir achieves nothing. You're obviously the type who never admits doing something wrong, so I'll leave you to it.
  21. You are being nebulous when you discuss "Walker" but don't mention his school. I assumed correctly that was his last name but it could have been his first. If you want to educate the public about this guy then you should at least mention his full name and team. I and probably many others had no idea to whom you were referring. What if I told you that "Lewis" also had been overlooked? You would be scratching your head.
  22. I went to the Tennessean website and discovered that "Walker" is Jayden Walker of DCA. Don't understand why you were so nebulous about the identity of the player and school and forced me to find out on my own. Readers who live in Memphis and don't follow II-A - like myself - probably don't know who you are talking about.
