  1. I agree with jhilts on the accuracy of the Sonny Moore rankings. It was much the same with Earl Nall when he was doing them. By the time the playoffs arrive the data on all those games tends to make for some pretty good predictions.
  2. The Tribe could win this one, but it will be a big challenge replacing Hayworth.
  3. Blue Devils will have less than 100 yds. total offense. Fulton will not punt. Fulton will not face a 3rd down unless they choose to throw and their QB goes blind. Sullivan South beat this team 68-0 and Fulton is rated 4 touchdowns better than South in the computer ratings. This might be the greatest mismatch in the history of TSSAA playoffs.
  4. Crockett players will be in fetal position at halftime.
  5. Game is a toss-up. Anybody predicting 2 TD margins is either listening to their personal bias, needling the others teams fans, or off their proverbial rocker. I realize for some of you all three apply.
  6. Sorry 06, nothing here is relevant to this year's Betsy/South clash except last year's head to head. How did Ethan do in that one? I know he was a sophomore last year and is much improved as a junior. Keep in mind several of South's starters were sophomores last year. That is a major reason South is so good this year.
  7. Cyclones are -3.5 according to Sonny Moore power ratings. Both teams would be 2 touchdown dogs to Greeneville . Fulton another 2 touchdowns over Greeneville.
  8. 30 minutes till kick off. Toppers scored yet?
  9. Not only will he allow him to go for two, he'll allow him to make it.
  10. What's at stake: Big 7 conference championship, a chance to side step Maryville until the finals of Quad 1, and a chance to continue or end a very long winning streak in this series for D-B. Coach Clark has done a great job of getting the most out of his squad through a tough schedule and injuries to key players. Coach Carter likewise has seen his squad suffer multiple injuries from recent games against state powerhouses Siegel and Brentwood Academy. The Indians have found a way to win in thrilling last minute fashion, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. The Toppers are currently spewing oil and struggling to regain early season form. Sonny Moore has it rated dead even in the computer ratings. Toppers plus McGue and others, D-B minus Casey or at least less than full speed, but D-B at home and with the confidence of the winning streak: I'll go with the Indians by 3 on a drive in the last minute. Should be a great game. I'll be listening while I watch the Rebels battle the Cyclones. Best of luck to both teams for an injury free, exciting conference championship game.
  11. Elizabethton has the most awesome unis. There are so many combinations they can wear. They're the local version of the Oregon Ducks. When you play them late in October that color scheme is spooky. And oh yea, I've always thought "Mister Twister" the fighting cyclone was one of the coolest logos of all time. What's the uni of choice for this game?
  12. This is too logical Batman. You must understand football. You probably don't belong on Coach T.
  13. He's expending all his football acumen teaching Coach Clark how to run the Ga offense. On another topic Cap, I'd be interested in your opinion on the direction this Viking squad is headed going into the playoffs. Are they improving or treading water? I still believe in their potential to make some noise much like last year.
  14. This will be fun to watch. Tennessee High is much better defensively but Crockett will still put a few on the board. The Vikings should be upset if they turn it over or punt. The possibility exists for them to score every possession . Vikings 54 Pioneers 28. 700 yds. combined passing and over 1000 total offense combined. Henley and Burger licking their chops.
  15. Congrats to the Raiders on a hard fought game. Rebels knew they were in a football game. Good luck to North in the playoffs.
  16. Looks like the Vikings honored it. Surely they realize the opportunity they blew to win the Big 7 this year. Anyway, there is enough potential to exend the season several weeks in the playoffs. Good luck Vikes!
  17. 1) no merger 2) Rebels will make sure the margin of victory is worse than Betsy inflicted 3) Rebels will remember the ill will the Raiders players and coaches displayed at the last meeting
  18. Good points guys. I promise you the Rebels respect Coach Witten and the mighty Cyclones. It is one of South's oldest and most storied rivalries and correct me if wrong, but I believe it is just about dead even over the years. The poem is just a little play on Folsom Prison Blues to stoke my ole bud Compusatman who used to always come up with a throwback literary play on The Raven the week of the conference's biggest game involving South. I believe he will honor this years match up with a new version of the devil train. Let the hype begin!!!
  19. I hear a whistle blowin', it's comin' round the bend, Ain't read about no devil train since I don't know when, Well we're stuck in the 3 Rivers, and now it's boom or bust, I just saw that ole raven flying down to Pactolus. Well I ain't no Edgar Alan and I ain't no man in black, When that black train gets to rollin', better get off the track, Cause it's bound for the Valley, known to us as Death And Cyclones better be ready to be just like the rest.
  20. Does anyone have a guess what's at stake here other than the 3 Rivers championship? I'm thinking it would be a 3 seed to the winner. If Betsy wins , I've got them hosting Catholic and South traveling to Carter. If South wins they may host Betsy , same two teams on the same field one week later. Scouting reports would be done early.
  21. There is a 3 TD gap in these two teams. Whether or not the Vikings chose to honor it will be entirely up to them.
  22. Told me he hoped to be back for this one.
  23. #1 is your best offense. Invite Henley to throw the ball.
