  1. Show me where you have been right. You make the absurd predictions and pretend to know what is best for the program. You act like you should be the athletic director. How arrogant and ignorant are you? I think you are a blowhard with a bone to pick with someone up there who hurt your little boy feelings once upon a time...oh nevermind, you're hopeless. Numerous games....no you're a joke.
  2. Ask Curt Phillips who he played against when he was named Gatorade Player of the Year and later signed with Wisconsin. Please. This is just further proof that you have little knowledge of the subjects you address.
  3. Wouldn't it be just like it has been '04? If you schedule a Virginia team, better feel good about their ability to win 5 out of the first 9. What they do in their 10th game won't matter. North Carolina teams on the other hand need to win 6 since they are playing an 11th game in our week 10. I would be interested in learning how Ky., Ark., Ga., Ala. and Miss ., teams' schedules affect our playoffs as well.
  4. They should have a solid team if they can piece together a good offensive line and a defensive backfield. Those should be the biggest challenges as I see it. QB, RB and WR positions should be really good. They will need to identify some WRs who can learn to block to support the run and underneath pass game. That was almost non-existent last year. I will also be interested in the offensive scheme(s), aggressiveness of the defense, and tackling.

    Big 8

Volunteer might win one. Is that what you mean?
  6. That should be #28 who saw a lot of action as a sophomore. His style reminded me a lot of Sean Hough from the year before, hard running straight ahead through contact with good balance and the ability to spin and twist out of tackles. Another candidate would be rising freshman #44. He is more of a FB type, a little bigger , I formation lead blocker type of back. And of course scat-back #1 will see plenty of sweep, reverse , counter and trap type runs if they chose to use him in those roles. You never know what's in the package from game to game at South. And I suspect the big QB will run it a lot.
  7. North will be way down next year. South will be challenged but good enough in the passing game to finish 2nd in this league next year. Johnson Co. and Unicoi Co. may be making a move depending on how many they have returning.
  8. Was this a pretty good look at it osunut2?
  9. You cannot replace those guys. That kind of speed isn't available routinely. That's why I think GC tweeks the offense this year to something more suitable for your players' skill sets. Cook and Begley would be in line I'd guess running behind Casey.
  10. Already playin Betsy. Trade Dobyns-Bennett and Science Hill for Johnson County and Unicoi County. I think most would agree that is an easier schedule. You are correct though. It does not guarantee wins and puts pressure on the team to win the games they should win.
  11. It is amazing how a "future of Sullivan South football" thread quickly morphs into E-town vs CAK playoff thread. Maybe we can re-direct. Will South be better , worse, or about the same next year? Will they be about the same but look better because of the weaker schedule?
  12. All I've heard is that 3 Rivers dates have been drawn so coaches could work on their non-conference dates immediately. I gathered that Tennessee High would be week 0, Betsy week 10, Gate City and Boone would remain but not sure if in the same week slots as last year. The 4th non-conference game is yet to be determined but they hope to find another North Carolina team.
  13. I understand Betsy-South drew week 10. That should stoke the fire of an already hot rivalry. North will be way down next year. They lost most of their team to graduation.
  14. I don't know what ideal numbers would be. I'd think somewhere around 80 would be good for a 6A title contender. One thing I would predict for D-B football is an upward trend in numbers and quality of "2 deep" players. With the recent annexation of Colonial Heights, a few good players are going to leak out of there every year and that number is going to bulid as the years pass. South will trend downward to 3A in 5 years and 2A in 10, if it even stays open. The Charger program has always turned out a hand full of good players each year. The really good ones may opt for the limelight now that Mom and Dad are already paying those taxes.
  15. Good points Art except you might be spoiled by these 10-0 seasons lately. Next year COULD BE like a few years ago when you lose 3 games in the regular season. If that happens some fans are going to complain about over scheduling. Those strength of schedules for opponents won't matter if you're being seeded 5 thru 8 and going on the road for a 1st round playoff game.
  16. Good deal SOUTHREB. There will be trolls here too just like there were in the other forum unfortunately. How do you see next year's team shaping up? I'm excited about our prospects.
  17. Two things on your first thread: 1) Would you do the honors and start a thread on Sullivan South Rebels football in the AA subforum where it appropriately now belongs? 2) Then maybe you could discuss how Coach T messages can "help the boys". * FYI, I'm a Rebel, not a troll.
  18. Don't ever let that go WaCo....wait a minute...I'm not falling for this
  19. Welcome to Coach T, SOUTHREB. I'm glad for your enthusiasm and hope we get others to join in. It's great you started this thread but you may want to start one in the 3A/4A section. We don't belong here anymore as you duly noted.
  20. Yes, and we scrimmaged you guys to start the year . Is your lineup similar to how you started the year? Strozyk ?? should be the marque matchup with Dre' Hall , two all-state guys going after one another. Their other star receiver McNeece will demand attention too. They have good balance with Martin at TB to go with Markham's ability to lumber downfield when he needs too. I think the Panther's can run on them. #24 LB will find his way into the backfield occasionally and he can run people down. Kickoffs and punts can be returned. I think it will be a very good game. I would love to see it if not 320 mile trip for me. I believe Powell finds a way to win late 31-28. South gave up a fly route to Hall on 3rd and 16 for ~60 yds. to begin the game. Then a couple of big runs up the middle by Martin later in the game. Hall is really good at showing speed on the fly , then breaking off a lot of curls and outs at 13-18 yds. We ran it effectively early with our big back, then threw it well after the fact.
  21. Great venue, love the stadium, the tunnel the team runs through from the field house on the other side of the hill, the entry plaza and the Lion statues.... but puhleeze...somebody gag the PA guy.
  22. I'm assuming D-B will transition to a new offense better suited for their players' skill sets. GC will probably mix and match Casey as a RB and FB to maximize use of his speed and size. There is still plenty of talent but a tougher schedule and less star power will make margins of victory close into the 4th qtr. unless matched against the local county conference teams. Tennessee High will be a serious challenge next year. Science Hill will be the early favorite to beat the Indians if they find a QB that can see over the line to throw.
