  1. I suspect: 1 There are a handful of 15 year olds in men's bodies that we've never heard of who have every intention of being contributors next year and who have names we'll talk about for the next several years 2 There's a kid who loves to kick, maybe a current soccer player - maybe not, who'll be the talk of town after the first scrimmage 3 The secondary is as bothered by their performance last year as we are and are already studying how it will be remedied 4 and that there is an impact player developing that even the coaches don't currently suspect This is what I suspect. Happens every year.
  2. Happy Thanksgiving from Henry County!
  3. I think your assessment is not way off. Receptions could have easily failed that resulted in 2 TDs. Two pick 6s from a Sophomore QB with with 3 games under his belt. Centennial gets rolled Friday.
  4. Good posts. Clearly this is a popular area with rapid growth. It is true that the schools mentioned probably have more financial support and related resources than the ordinary county school. It is also true there are more athletes, more appeal to better coaches, and all that goes with that. I think what makes things work out fairly is that the talent tends to spread out somewhat equally. Also, it takes years (if it ever happens) to develop a football culture and many of these new schools just never will. Whereas, a county school in a mostly rural environment gets basically all the attention this time of year on Friday night. The kids grow up wanting to suit up and compete and have little distraction to do otherwise. Look at the Clarksville schools. It is the third most populated city in Tennessee. Clearly less financially gifted than the Franklin area, but probably can match up better athlete for athlete. They are spread over a half dozen schools and we pretty much have our way with them all year after year. All that to say I think we'll be fine.
  5. I know. We lost and are wallowing in our misery. Your taking time out from your job, family, and hobbies to rub it in makes it hurt so much more. Please leave us to feel sorry for ourselves. I just hope we can somehow find a way to move forward. And I hope you can find enough direction in your life that you can be of some positive influence beyond how you are spending this beautiful day.
  6. I knew Indy of course is great, as well as Southwind. Not familiar with Ravenwood.
  7. We probably came across that way. Truth is everyone here knew, and openly talked about, we had a serious pass defense problem and not enough pass offense to make much noise. Our run defense was spectacular for the most part. For the record, Liberty is as good as anyone we played this year.
  8. So, do you think it would be ok if I'm not so realistic about our team again? Or would that make the posters who support teams we don't even play upset?
  9. You are right. We need to settle down and not have such a good time talking about our team. It is harmful and insulting to the other teams. From now on I, like you, am going to just sit back and appreciate our efforts and just hope the best team wins. No sense at all in supporting our kids and hoping for a win week after week. I can certainly understand how this looks to others, especially from schools we don't even play such as Mount Juliet. I just hope I can do my part to make things better for everyone with my newfound realism. And a special thanks for MJGoldenbears pointing all this out. Without such unnecessary concern, I would probably keep using this forum to talk to other Henry County fans about HS football. Anyhow, I hope everyone gets a trophy and no one goes 6-6 next year and gets their feelings hurt.
  10. I know! Right? Dude ought to know Maryville is real good. Should be #1 no matter what is measured!
  11. Hello! FactsOnly here from over in 5A . . . I have a comment for all of who are questioning the LazIndex. First of all, it is an index. An index is a mathematical measure of changes in a group of previous numbers that have already happened. The index doesn't care who is best, prettiest, strongest, most emotional, least dingy, adequately coached, or best hydrated. It only cares what happened. If any of you do the same figuring, you'll get the same result no matter who is your favorite team. You could make your own index measuring any of the following: 1 Wins versus number of hamburgers sold at halftime 2 Number of field goals versus number of redheaded cheerleaders on the sideline 3 Yards rushing compared to number of tubas in the opponents band and you'd all get the same number. It would be meaningless, but you'd get the same number. Or, you could use parameters numbers more likely to give you the information you want. Such as: wins against common opponents, wins at home, losses against high quality good teams, total offense, or any number of variables things. That's what Laz does! Use his formula, you'll get his numbers. He isn't saying it is right or wrong. He is saying it is what it is. And last night, it was almost 90% accurate. Makes me think he's on to something.
  12. Headed there now. I love arguing with the delusional.
  13. Can't do that. We're all real attached to him . . . on and off the field. Good kid.
  14. . . . in uther werds, yore smarrt aza wip but pretenz ye aint!
  15. By the way Stars, any possibility we might send some more staff over there again to watch? We ran into a buzz saw last night and lost our bearings. I'll send a soda allowance and an umbrella this time.
  16. Stars, your lack of eloquence is a poor facade for your consummate intelligence.
  17. Dude. It is just numbers based on prior performance. He is not making a measure of greatness. If you applied the same formula, you'd get the exact results, you'd get the same answer if you put the right numbers in the calculator. The weatherman may say there is a 70% chance of rain. Doesn't mean it will or will not rain. Just means that, based on prior similar available information, there is a 7 in 10 chance it will this time. If that weatherman had the same record as Laz, he'd be considered a prodigy real good weatherman. But please, please keep arguing this point. I need a little levity something to laugh about this morning after the tooling Henry County took last night (unfortunately, one of Laz's correct predictions).
  18. I, for one, was very confident we'd win this time around. Maybe it was false hope. I had a lot of confidence in our Sophomore QB last night. I think he'll improve with more experience. His first HS game experience was the half quarter in the first matchup. We'll see. Hope your team does well and have a good holiday season.
  19. Thanks for your interest. Maybe we'll go further next year and y'all can direct your jealousy elsewhere.
  20. I'll field that one. Notre Dame superiority complex.
  21. Thanks, deleted my response to your deleted response too.
