I was thinking it would depend on how faithful the Nashville area fans were now that the tournament is in their backyard.

cbg: beating a dead horse...if you want d1 and d2 wrestling back together you'll have to get the other sports on board too. TSSAA won't combine just one sport it will be all sports or none. Good luck getting football and basketball to agree to that. CHScoach: Jordan's plan worked....I guess. Congratulations on your retirement. I'm sure the cats will miss you. HSDAD: just curious what team do you say will be down? ru4mocs: I was wondering the same thing...another location with the same results? Moving the individual tournament will make TSSAA more $$$$$ because the venue is free(thats what I heard). Question is will attendance be better or worse? As far as the duals tournament attendance, I think it should be better because all the Bradley, Soddy or Cleveland fans won't have as far to drive and more of their fans will make the trip.

Rumor I have heard is that Rakin(Alcoa) is working on details that would give him the job. I know it is a rumor but this what a booster from Cleveland told me.

I wonder if the Tennessee AAU leadership knows about this? Seems to me someone is taking a big risk if one of these young boys gets hurt.

In the past I have heard that unless ALL sports from both division agree to end the split it will remain. The TSSAA won't just select sports to bring DI and DII back together. I don't see DI football schools in middle tennessee or DII basketball schools in west tennessee wanting to end the split. So regardless how you feel about wrestling's two divisions nothing will change unless you get the other schools and sports to go along with it. Besides for all of you who get on coacht and rant and rave about this topic you are not getting anywhere. You need to have your principal or headmasters contact their TSSAA representatives those are the folks that the TSSAA will listen too. My opinion is though that the split will continue because most schools in most sports want it. I also think that if there were a true vote a majority of schools with wrestling would vote to continue the split. That just my opinion. Also I think adding a small school division at the individual states would help the sport grow in tennessee. Again, just my opinion.

What if instead of adding a week they just back up one weekend for the region duals and add the sub-state where the region duals are now? Any team not participating the duals tournaments could still schedule and wrestle duals. I know I'm stretching here but instead of saying we can't lets find a way we could.

Bayoubear, I hope you are wrong about the way the regions will be next year. If it is true maybe the tssaa can add a sub-state and bring top four region teams together 1&2, 3&4, 5&6 and 7&8 and then the the top four teams from the sub-state would advance to the state. This way more of the "better" teams would have a chance to go instead of two teams from a "weak" region. What do you think?

MVR, If you'll take the time and read my other posts I already apologized for my remark about "rich spoiled private schools". I was man enough to apologize so its up to you now. I didn't say Baylor and Ryan didn't wrestle last year I said Baylor didn't schedule Ryan! Isn't it possible that they won't even see each other in the state duals? I never said Baylor wasn't the best team in the state but we won't know for sure. I still think there should be two polls thats all. I can't speak for Bradley but I'm sure they don't care who or where Baylor wrestles.

MVM, I know you seen my post with the apology so if you want to continue with the rich vs poor thing you will have to do it without me. My only point is and that of some others is that there should be two polls DI and DII. My opinion is both DI and DII would be better served with two polls. That it for me on this topic.

OK I apologize for saying "spoiled rich private school"(I wish I was rich, I'd let you call me rich and spoiled). Everyone keeps talking about 1 & 2 wrestling each other. Has #1 private school Baylor wrestle the #2 private school Father Ryan? From an earlier post it appears they aren't even scheduled to wrestle. I'm sure wrestling fans would love to see that match and I'm sure the gate would be a big one. Why doesn't Baylor wrestle Father Ryan? Are they scared? Do they not care about the sport of wrestling? Etc... These are the same arguments thrown at Bradley year after year. Of course it rediculous to ask these questions to either Bradley or Baylor. Baylor has a great program and their coach makes out the schedule he thinks prepares his wreslters for states just like Bradleys coach.

Rigger, You are probably right the only way it would happen would be if you were to combine DI and DII and it isn't going to happen. If you did away with the spilt(it ain't gonna happen) I'm sure they would wrestle in the region or state tournaments. The reason it keeps coming up is the spoiled rich private schools aren't getting their way and they know Logsdon could care less what they think.

Lets face it if Bradley and Baylor were to wrestle next year and Bradley won, and then Baylor wrestled McCallie and lost to McCallie, then all the DII supporters would gripe about Bradley not wrestling McCallie. So in the end Bradley would have to wrestle Baylor, McCallie, Father Ryan, CBHS, MBA, etc... Im sure Bradley's coach will continue to make his schedule to help his team win state championships and the DII supporters will continue to complain that he doesn't schedule their team. I doubt Coach Logsdon is losing any sleep over this. I'll bet he is even laughing about all the whinning you DII people do about this topic

ghouse, You guessed wrong because if the poll had Bradley ranked No. 1 I would say the same thing. I too would like to see Bradley vs. Baylor and agree that it won't happen but I really don't have an opinion on who would win since I haven't seen Baylor this year. The only thing I tried to express was I felt it would be better served to have a DI poll and a DII poll. Thats all.

ghouse, thank you for your words of wisdom. Since you replied to ME I will do the same: 1 & 2. Arbitrary divisions? The fact is there are two divisions whether you like it or not. Just seems like since we have two divisions we would have two polls. Just my opinion. 3. Thank you for pointing out the obvious. Or we could have DI coaches vote for DI rankings and DII coaches vote for DII rankings. That would be easy to do as well. 4. So instead of a DII top ten it could be Fab 5 or whatever. No one said that DII wasn't doing things right so don't turn this into that argument. 5. Please get off your soapbox. The statement about "what counts is what you do at state" was only a compairison to the rankings and how you finish at state. I know and agree with all the lessons learned from wrestling but that wasn't the topic. I understand how the rankings work and how the voting goes. The voters feel and vote they way they want it doesn't change the fact that my statement and opinion that Baylor is the No. 1 DII team and Bradley is the No. 1 DI team is wrong.

Star, You are probably right about that. So that is one reason but not a good one as far as I am concerned. In the end it is what you do at state that counts but it does seem like this is some kind of DII conspiracy to be "with" the DI teams even though they won't be at states. Just a thought. Its like Baylor is No. 1, why isn't Bradley No. 1? As far as I'm concerned Baylor is the No. 1 DII team and Bradley is the No. 1 DI team.

DaisyMay, You make excellent points in your post. I started a thread a month ago asking this same question. It seems that people are affraid to answer this question for some reason. Why combine DI and DII in rankings when they won't compete against each other for state championships. It make no sense to me as to why the ranking are done this way. Maybe somone can explain?

It think that Matman and Bray rankings are both doing a good job. I was more interested in the Team Rankings. What about it Matman or Bray?

This is just a thought but why when we have the individual rankings divided by DI and DII(which I hope Matman and Bray continue to do) do we have a combined team ranking? Not to add to their work load but I for one would like to see Matman and Bray also do the team rankings the way they do the individual rankings. Before anyone get bent out of shape I'm just suggesting the team rankings reflect the divisions as they'll be at the state tournament. Instead of just ranking DI and DII we could go DI AAA and AA/A and DII Large and Small. Maybe another person instead of Matman and Bray might like to start a new team rankings. Just a thougt.
