  1. I have to say...Maryville is a great town! My son goes to Maryville College, plays bball, we love it! The drive from the Boro to Mvul is absolutely gorgeous... Good luck to *Siegel and Maryville today...hoping both teams finish injury free!
  2. "Maryville knows they got a great draw?"... Siegel is a very fast team...Solid quick defense, good outside shooters, fast break all day, and deep bench. Being one dementional by shooting 3's will not beat Siegel. Siegel has the edge in this one. They are just too fast.
  3. Well put REBELRON...no one should be overlooked. If you do take someone lightly this close to state, dumb move. Siegel played John Overton in January and won but they are a good team. Happy to see them doing so well. Not sure how far they would get in State but I wish them all the luck. Good luck to Siegel tonight at home against Cleveland!
  4. Wait! How did this happen??? I thought when two Memphis teams played each other they both won...because they are so good?
  5. Melrose won by 3 and White Station won by 2...They both will be very hard to beat...Can Siegel match up with WS 6'8, 6'7, 6'7 front line or Melrose's 3 d-1 signees?? Siegel has 6'10, 6'9, 6'4, etc. AND I stand corrected....Siegel is in it's 8th year of existence and has been to State 4 times...Final 4 twice and Elite 8 once. Pretty good for a young program.
  6. Ummmm...Siegel is in it's 8th year of existence and has been to State 3 times...Final 4 twice and Elite 8 once. Pretty good for a young program.
  7. "It is my opinion that they not only do not have the talent to win, they are not coached well enough to win." Well, good thing your opinion really doesn't matter because Siegel is 30 - 2 this season. They have won 17 straight...went undefeated through their district and the district tourney. So looks like they are doing something right TO WIN...HOMIE
  8. Oh you neanderthals...keep beating your chests. Believe it or not, good basketball is played outside of Memphis. You should look beyond Elvis-ville every now and then.
  9. Siegel is not the same team from last year...they are much, much better. They have gone unbeaten in district play and all through the district tourney...(only 2 losses, beaten by a team out of South Carolina in the Bahamas and Oak Ridge this year). But please, continue to overlook them.
  10. Looking forward to Tueday night's contest between MY SIEGEL and Riverdale...If Riverdale concentrates on Hurt and Cedric down low, that opens up Oscar and Kyle for 3. If they concentrate on Kyle and Oscar, they dish it down low for 2. Our point, Trayton can drive to the basket and shoot from outside. Gonna be hard to double team anyone. This group is so in sync, they practically breathe and blink at the same time. I've never seen them so focused.
  11. mrob, on 22 January 2011 - 10:39 PM, said: SIEGEL SCORED FIVE TOTAL POINTS IN THE 1Q... Kinda hard for Siegel to score when Blackman is standing at half court with the ball for ten minutes. Why would Siegel come out of their zone when THEY WERE WINNING? You don't play down to teams, you play YOUR game...that's the difference between wins and losses. Blackman had the "deer in the headlights" look the whole game. That is on the coach, not having his team prepared for the opponent.
  12. Siegel played Nashville Overton Saturday...both coaches had their teams prepared to play. What a great game to watch! Overton has a lot of talent but Siegel had it all going: down low, outside and even FT's. Cedrick Williams was unstoppable...lost count on his dunks. Overton's point guard is smooth (Mookie)...heard he's already signed with UT to play baseball. Pearl's gonna wish he had him too. We play Lavergne Tuesday night...looking forward to another good game.
  13. I agree Riverdaleman...my Siegel put together a complete game last night, played very relaxed. The game was close until the 4th. Riverdale has talent, that's for sure...just lacking a lil discipline.
  14. The Siegel/Oakland game wasn't pretty but those two teams know each other extremely well...it's always going to be close, and a fight. I thought Oakland definitely played up and showed a lot of heart. They are much better than their record shows. Siegel was jackin up 3's from everywhere instead of trying to feed to their big guys...BUT, good teams find ways to win even on off nights and they got the job done again. When Siegel is clickin on all cylinders, they are tough and fun to watch. Three of their starters have been battling injuries but they still get it done with a strong bench. If you've never been to a Siegel/Oakland game...the student sections are hilarious. The Oakland kids came prepared Friday night. Very entertaining. Siegel is at Riverdale Tuesday night...will be a battle of the big guys down low. This is a tough district all the way around. No "gimme" games...Siegel has Blackman Friday night for Homecoming, another scrappy team.
  15. Here's a question for ya...why do you Oakland goofs always think every post on here about Siegel is written by our Coach? Do you know how stupid that is?...How imature that thinking is? Siegel supporters don't assume all Oakland posts are written by Coach Wright. You really show your lack of brain power with those comments. My son is a senior on Siegel's team...but by all means, please continue to think I am the Head Coach of Siegel High's basketball team posing as someone else making comments on this forum. Makes me giggle.
  16. Excuse me? I have a son that plays for Siegel. I have no idea what you are talking about as far as identities go. Look at my profile, I have nothing to hide. I will not post what Ced did to me and my family on here but I have very strong feelings about that kid. So, this incident doesn't surprise me. I do know that he was given plenty of chances at Siegel and he blew them all. Yes, his brother played at Siegel and I think Dotson even got him a scholarship to play college ball. His brother is the one that had a heart transplant.
  17. I actually heard about this too and it's unfortunate...I had a run in with Ced Carroll myself and from experience he is not a well mannered, good kid. It will be interesting to see how the coach handles the situation. Athletes are held at a higher standard but Riverdale is also seeing success with him on the court so they may be more tolerant.
  18. After that comment, you should really think about changing your name to "2classless"... I have a son who plays in the Siegel basketball program but I do happen to like Hooters wings...thanks for asking.
  19. It is really easy to dislike your rivals coach but you obviously don't know Coach Dotson. This is where Siegel and Oakland are very different. Siegel fans who are knowledgable respect Coach King. That's why you don't see us personally slamming him on here. You may like to know that Coach Dotson goes above and beyond for his players. Treats his team like a family. Yea, he gets in their tail during a game if need be but he sings their praises too. Ask any of them and they will tell you he is the one they wanted to lead them this year. I was at the Siegel/Oakland game. It is an amazing rivalry, healthy, but emotional. For the next few years, Siegel will be strong and be assured Oakland will always put quality on the floor. So enjoy and try to respect the coaches and all they do.
