  1. Swanson, Molly has been playing with an ACL tear and a meniscus tear. Her ACL was 60% torn, but last night finished it off. She has surgery scheduled for the 25th of this month. Very tough young lady who left it on the floor. She had an outstanding high school career, and now it is time to get her knee better and get ready to be a Golden Eagle. Congratulations to RBS on the win! The Colter girl is a long range assassin. I hope to see you guys playing at the Murphy Center. Good luck!
  2. It is an honor to just be on this list, so all of the young ladies should be very proud. The school and communities that they represent should be very proud as well. To Molly Heady I'm so proud of you. Thank you so much for the way you play the game and the type of person you are. Your hard work and dedication to the game, the classroom, and the community are why you are on this list. Your style of play endures you to us fans, and your kind heart and sweet personality seals the deal.
  3. auntkim, You are one of the classy posters on this board. Thank you for that. The people from Chapel Hill should be proud about how you represent them on here. Girls basketball brings out the best and worst in some us but the post I have read of yours always seem to be full of integrity. Not a single girl being mentioned will be a loser. They are all headed to play Division 1 basketball and I look forward to keeping track of them throughout the rest of their careers. One thing I think we can all agree on is that Hawn, Heady, and Leonard all have that "IT" factor.
  4. Jason, That shows you what I know! For some reason I thought Snow in 2004 was the only finalist. Oh well, scratch what I said about Lamar not coaching a Miss Basketball winner. I thought it was ironic with as much success as that program has had that there wouldn't be a Miss Basketball. I still believe all three of the girls being mentioned are very deserving. I'll go study up on my history of CHS basketball now. LOL
  5. UT, Not trying to make it a contest between these two. Beth Hawn is having a better year than either one of them. I think Leonard is awesome. I also think Heady and Hawn are just as awesome. Nothing negative meant. I agree Leonard's 8th grade stats should count. By rule she was under the same roof and she was able to play with the high school. Single A will be represented well by this award who ever wins it. Heck, we may be doing all this talking for no reason someone not even mentioned may win it.
  6. 8 state championships, over 900 wins, the most successful single A team in the state, hall of fame coach, but not a single girl from Clarkrange has won the Miss Basketball trophy. Michelle Snow was a finalist, and was very deserving of the trophy, but did not win it. Lamar does such an outstanding job managing his teams, and his stars. That is why his teams are so scary when they get in the state tournament. I say all of that to say their is only one ball and what players like Heady and Leonard do on teams with other stars like Reed, Dickens, Wardin, and Bowman make them very special. I for one have enjoyed watching both of these young ladies play the game. They both have the same kind of qualities and when they play against each other it is worth the price of admission. Miss Hawn is also having an outstanding year, I just think the choice has to be Heady or Leonard, and I know it is a 1 year award, but these two girls have produced at the same high level for 4 years. Their stats are very similar if you take out Leonard's 8th grade stats. I think Leonard has a slightly higher average in points, but Heady has a higher average in rebounds. I will say this you will not go wrong with Heady, Leonard, or Hawn.
  7. Kim, Molly and her family got great news today. Her injury is a minor one and she will be back next week. Lots of prayer warriors in Clarkrange and surrounding areas got busy and God answered those prayers.
  8. My vote would be for Molly Heady from Clarkrange. She is the most humble hard working young lady I have ever been around. She has tremendous character and integrity. This young lady never takes a play off and her numbers prove that. She recently went over 2000 points for her career, and over 1000 rebounds. She has led her teams in scoring and rebounding all four years of her career. I would encourage those that have not seen her play to watch her before you vote. Her hustle and hard work is contagious to everyone she plays with and everyone that pays to watch her. Molly has accomplished all of this and has maintained a 4.0 grade point average. She is truly an amazing young lady. Lots of other girls are worthy as well but I just think Molly is the total package and what the Miss Basketball award should be all about.
  9. Midtenn, that is pretty funny I don't care who you are. Just as long as you all are not cooking bison bacon I will be ok with it
  10. Midtenn, I think Jackson County has a tremendous coach, and so does Clarkrange. When I say getting better I'm not talking about player development because they are both very good at that. I'm talking about learning to play with each other. In the first contest you had a seasoned team playing a team still trying to get used to each other. Coaching really can't fix that. Time is the only thing that can fix that. The Clarkrange girls are more seasoned now, and will continue to grow every game. As for the refs in the last game, they sucked and you know it, but Jackson County was the better TEAM that night.
  11. Midtenn, Slow down brother! I know you are confident in your blue devils and you have every right to be they are a great team. However I will say that on any given night Clarkrange can beat them. Jackson County should be favored because they returned basically every starter, but don't count the lady buffaloes out. They are playing better, and will continue to get better. I look for them to peak at just the right time this year. Player for player to pretty evenly matched teams.
  12. It is true. It appeared it was the classic case of one team had something to prove and the other just thought they were going to get off the bus and the scoreboard was going to explode. Very good lesson for the lady buffaloes. Forrest was very determined and focused for this game. They played a lot harder than the defending state champs. The good thing for Clarkrange is that it is not where you start, but where you finish that is important. Now if Forrest plays better than they did last night for the rest of the year you better look out. They should be very proud today they won all phases of the basketball game last night.
  13. Clarkrange learned a very good lesson tonight that last year means nothing this year. I believe that this game will be a blessing as the season goes on. Swagger will only get you so far and then the whistle blows. I would imagine that there will be several trash cans set up around the gym tomorrow and they will probably be full of puke. Now with that said this game was a lot closer than the score shows. With 2 min to go it was a 6 point game and then Heady fouled out and Dickens soon followed. Hawn played out of this world she made every shot she put up so props to her. I do believe that she was protected a little bit by the referees. She had several flops and several over the backs that were let go and every time someone got close to her a fouled was called. Pretty evident in the fact that both Heady and Dickens fouled out while Hawn only had 2 fouls, however she played really good. I'm sure these two teams will face off again so it will be interesting to see how it goes the rest of the season. I feel confident that Lamar will get them adjusted. I wouldn't want to be the next team that plays them.
  14. His team got it done against your blue devils.
  15. Rebel, I thought 60 to 70 was a lot, maybe I'm wrong. How many applicants generally apply for head coaching jobs at mid-major div 1 schools? I'm not being sarcastic I would like to know, so us Tech fans can tell what the perception out there is. I know Tech has been one of the most successful basketball schools over the last 15 years, but the last couple may have really hurt the perception of the program. Also do you think they would be willing to pay more for a big name coach? Didn't they up the salary for their football coach?
