  1. Lipscomb does have a great fundamentals camp--it just doesn't last long enough IMO. Also, check out the Lady Dragons Organization out of Franklin Road Academy. The head coach teaches pretty much all year and focuses on good fundamentals and "team" playing. Their 9U team won a tournament this weekend in Cookeville and were making foul shots and 3-pointers like crazy! GOOD FUNDAMENTALS! This group will also be hosting a camp at Freed-Hardeman University in late June. All the info is on their website. www.scabasketball.com Good luck! It is great that you are starting early! I cannot believe some of the high school players I have seen that cannot properly dribble a ball (with both hands) or shoot properly (going up for a left side layup and shooting right handed)--and it's usually too late by then to change bad habits! This organization will get her ready if she is serious about playing throughout her school years and beyond!
  2. Cora37, There is a wonderful organization out of Franklin Road Academy called The Lady Dragons. The head coach teaches fundamentals and team ball playing. He has a staff of coaches who follow his method of coaching. The 9U girls won a championship in Cookeville this past weekend with a 17-year old coach out of Murfreesboro who played for The Lady Dragons and has been in training with the program through private lessons for 4 years. The 12U team came in second in Tullahoma a few weeks ago. I believe that the program goes from 9a through 15u.... I know that the older girls have a tournament in Alabama this weekend and the other teams will be playing in Murfreesboro and Lebanon tournaments, respectively this month---not sure how long they play past May--but his program goes all year long with focus on fundamentals. There is a player from Portland that drives every weekend to be trained by the head coach. There is also a great camp scheduled at Freed-Hardeman University near Jackson which I would highly recommend and the coaches I mentioned will be there to help teach as well. It is around the end of June-first of July. Here's the website link and good luck! I'm sure they would love to meet your daughter! www.scabasketball.com
  3. Try The Lady Dragons. They are based out of Franklin Road Academy and run a great "fundamentals" program. There are alot of private school players on their teams. Visit www.scabasketball.com Good luck!
  4. FYI.... Looks like the minutes from the meeting have been posted on the TSSAA website. They really "outlined-underlined" the "recruiting" rules in great "DETAIL" this time so that there should be "no misunderstanding" on who is responsible for "knowing" and "following" the recruiting rules when it comes to transfers and middle school students. Maybe Childress will be watching for infractions from here on out??? Your thoughts on this PHargis?
  5. Congratulations SGHS! Looking forward to seeing you here again! Get this.... My husband graduated from Powell in 1977----they are headed to the Boro. I graduated from South Greene High School in 1977---you are headed to the Boro. Our daughter is at Blackman (in Murfreesboro) and they beat Walker Valley tonight to go to State for the very first time! It will be a fun time at The Murphy Center! Save travel and good luck to all! Stop and eat at Toot's while you are here!
  6. Censorship is NEVER a good thing. HC's questions were indeed related to basketball. Why are you protecting Riverdale High School?
  7. That is good to know Riverdaleman. I'm sure that he is getting some money from the pop up ads to help with the expenses as well, and I have read from some posters that they would gladly pay for the membership if there were no ads, but the way you explained it is much better to understand. Most people do not know this. I didn't. My point was basically to say, that I have been "reading" for nearly a year now and I don't post very often, but I have noticed that if there is someone who has only posted a few times and that person says something that "doesn't make Phargis too happy"....then he replies with "You can join CoachT....blah, blah, blah". IMO that is not a way pull in revenue. By pointing out that "you have only posted a few times"....in my opinion...says to that poster....you do not know what you are talking about since you don't post every half hour. If you notice how many "hits" the thread gets compared to actual posts then I think it is important for people to feel "welcome" when they do post. Maybe if they felt like their comments were just as important, whether they spend $24 or not--then they may "want" to spend the extra to help out with Coacht.com. It is really the best place to get all of the sports news all over the state!!!! Kudos to CoachT.com and keep posting JoeyT!!!
  8. Good post JoeyT. My father-in-law fought in WWII and my brother died in Vietman in 1968 (he left a football scholarship behind to join the Marines) so you, me and other posters could have the freedoms we enjoy today. People may not like what I have to say, and sometimes I don't always agree with some things I read. However, I thought that this is what this site is all about--being able to voice your opinion, cheer on your team(s) and sometimes disagree in a "nice" way. I still have an opinion and so do you. Go with it!!!! If "ONE" person wants to "own" Coacht.com, then they need to let us all know! Why would I "join" for $24? Why "pay" to get blasted out of the water if you do not "agree" with certain people? I can get "blasted" for "free". I do believe that most of the posters, especially on 7AAA are MUCH more experienced than me when it comes to basketball, but I still enjoy keeping up with the "latest". Keep posting----!!!
  9. A blast from the past!!!! Go Lady Rebels from your number 1 fan here in Murfreesboro! I would love to see your team play here in the State Tournament! I remember the past state tournaments and you can do it again!! From a SGHS graduate---1977. Go Coach Ricker!!!! Go LADY REBELS!!!!
