  1. A lot of time on my hands? The time stamp is posted right next to user names and when your posts are on after the other, it takes a grand total of about 2 seconds. It's all good, though. It's nice to support your friend.
  2. WOOOHOOOO! Poetic isn't it? Good luck to Coach Gerlach and Gorman. I'll have to pull for the underdogs in this. Alcoa bring back the hardware for the District!
  3. Apparently the system accidentally switched my picks with wbcsoccerstud's. Honest mistake. It should read, "First Place: cnpitbull" /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  4. I'm not dogging his ability. I know he's a heck of a player, and he had to learn a great deal about the game playing under Randy Lambert at Maryville. I'm just saying it's funny to see someone comment about him, then a different screen name comment about him 2 minutes later out of nowhere, and the same thing happen numerous times. As for the coaching search at Seymour, I haven't been a big supporter of the program since Billy Ray Duncan (now at Greeneville) left. I would love to see them give the job to a fine man like Johnny Darden. It might not be Knox County, but it's still South Knoxville.
  5. It seems to me that Rayfieldhsbb, hsfansince78, and PFbasketball10 are the same person and it HAS to be Raul, lol, and he must be dying to leave GP. If it's not him, then it must be his mom or dad. Whoever it is, they throw his name out in every coaching vacancy there is and then debate with themselves. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  6. Congratulations to both Alcoa, CAK, and the rest of the teams that advanced! Good luck in the rest of the tournament.
  7. WOW! Akula, I don't see how your heart can take all these close games! It's a definite testament to your team for pulling out a win in all of them (at least I'm pretty sure all of them). Either way, what a great display of heart and determination! Good luck in the rest of the tournament. You make our District proud!
  8. That's the first thing that came to mind for me as well. After giving it some thought, though, it's not necessarily the playing time that makes the difference. It's the practice time. That's essentially giving a high school player an extra year of eligibility after their senior season. I know I wouldn't want to see Mark Sherrod allowed to play another season at the high school level if I was on an opposing squad. Also, while I haven't seen him play, 8th grader Ben Holt scored the winning goal (I believe) against Alcoa. If that wasn't the game I know he had a big goal in at least one of the tourney games. Who's to say they would have gotten that goal if he was ineligible? With that said, I'm basically just playing devil's advocate and throwing these arguments out there. I see both side of the debate and have yet to totally make up my mind one way or the other.
  9. I'll go with Bearden 2-1, but I believe this game will be closer than a lot of people expect. Beating teams like Riverdale and McMinn going into the tournament gives Columbia a ton of momentum. I realize McMinn's record isn't that great but if you look at their schedule, they've played a number of quality sides closely (with the exception of Hendersonville).
  10. Is your screen name insinuating that you are "stunned" that Catholic is no longer competing for the state title this year? Touche, my friend, touche. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

  12. But I would be willing to bet that a large percentage of that 400 came there to play on a quality soccer team. In public schools, such as Seymour, you're lucky to find 20 kids with the skills to make the team and then actually compete with the starters. I taught a girl in 5th grade last year that transferred to CAK this year to play soccer in their excellent system. I don't have the time right now to further delve into my opinion of this situation, but wanted to point out something that I felt answered the problem presented in the quote. Now, to the actual topic at hand. Congratulations to CAK and BigG on your well-deserved win. I know your team, as well as akula and his Tornadoes will do us proud!
  13. Elizabethton is still playing down a few players due to the Chuckey Doak game correct?
  14. Thanks for the updates, Reaction! Congrats to both coaches and teams on such a tightly contested match. Both teams will be formiddable opponents for whomever they face next! Could someone post matchups, times, and locations for this weekend's games?
  15. CAK wins 4-3 in the final minute of golden goal!!! Another tough game for Carter AND CAK that went the distance. Congratulations to them on a heck of a season, and congrats to BigG and his CAK boys. They get Alcoa next. The Plus Member Show Down is right around the corner. Good luck to both teams and coaches. I've got a meeting for a school trip on Thursday, but will do my very best to make it to this one. BigG and gchunn- I can't wait to hear your takes on the game. Sounds like it was phenomenal!
  16. Alcoa over Catholic!!! Huge win for akula and the Tornadoes. On to face CAK.
  17. Congratulations to all these young men, and way to go gchunn!
  18. HAHA, no disrespect. Alcoa did win the game. Better? /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  19. I understand. The old adage, "You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him." It was a good choice of words. I just keep thinking of the 3 Alcoa defenders trying to "contain" him inside the box on the right side of the goal the other night when he made a couple of direction changes, got past them all, and buried it just under the crossbar.
  20. I'm not saying he's Superman, but I don't know if anyone can contain Sherrod in the prep ranks. He is an offensive force. If you double or triple team him, they have a number of guys that can make you pay.
  21. That tornado was hit with almost equal force by a firy swarm of Hornets.
  22. What a great game! This may sound cliche, but neither team deserved to lose this one. So many momentum shifts I lost count. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> G, thanks for giving the updates. Saved me from having to type it out, haha. For the most part the field seemed to be in good shape. The only exception was down the sideline on the home side of the field, but that's to be expected with the weather as of late. While all of the goals were nice, three of them were really top notch. Sherrod took on three defenders for his goal in the first half and then placed it just underneath the crossbar. Wow! Alcoa's number 5's goal in the 75th minute just outside the 18 was beautiful, and Austin Stone's direct kick from 28 yards out was not only pretty, but incredibly clutch. Brodus' play throughout the game was especially impressive as well. Congrats to both teams for a well played game. It was well worth the price of admission! Good luck to both teams in the region. You're both excellent representatives of the District.
  23. Quite an interesting turn of events. I agree, Alcoa's field was very nice for the Seymour game the other night. LOL @ Coach Chunn with the goal spotting comment /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  24. I don't doubt it! I'd probably have to sleep 'til Monday from the exhaustion of that game last night. If I go, I'll definitely keep you updated.
