  1. Google Maps says that the trip is going to be about 3 hours. We all wish you safe travels down here. For the early birds, there is a Hardee's very close to the school, and if you go into downtown Red Bank, you'll find a Sonic, Subway, Mexican restaurant, and others. Our school's football website is bluenationfootball.com. What's ya'lls? Keon had a fantastic game Friday, setting the school record for most rushing TDs in a game by a single player. From what ya'll have been posting, realize that Keon is not your average "good" linebacker. If ya'll are able to stop them, then our very good receiving corps will likely come through. Best of luck to both teams, and we all hope you guys arrive here safely. Red Bank 42 Greeneville 24
  2. No, we don't have turf. And I'm thinking Red Bank will pull through on this one. Greeneville is a very good team, but Red Bank should win again if they play like they did against Fulton.
  3. This should be one of the best games in the 4A 2nd round. Red Bank's running back Keon Williams may or may not play, but after watching RB do so well without him, I think that we have a good shot at beating Fulton. But don't get me wrong...it's going to be a hard battle for both teams and it's going to be close a lot of the game. Red Bank 31 Fulton 21
  4. Pigpen is right, we did have more fans than Gibbs. And if you thought that the Red Bank football team and coaches had no class in our performance, then how did we beat you guys by 40 and how are we 11-0? If you thought that "Lion Pride" was missing out, well, you should come back down here for the next 3 playoff games at Red Bank. Maybe then you'll have different thoughts on our fans. And by saying "If anyone has to go to Red Bank for a game, don't expect much", if other people from schools who play Red Bank read this, think about how many fans may shy away from coming to watch their team play.
  5. Red bank rolled over Gibbs on Friday...without their star running back. Gibbs, congratulations on a great season and we all hope you had a safe trip home. Fulton is now making the trip down to the Scenic City to take on Red Bank. Any fans from anywhere have anything to say about Fulton?
  6. If you're coming through on highway 27, past downtown and the big baseball field, across the river, and you take the "Morrison Springs Rd/Red Bank" exit, you'll see a Hardee's just on your right from the ramp and the school is less than a mile on your left. If you take a right turn on Morrison Springs Road, and continue past Hardee's, you'll be in downtown Red Bank very quickly--you'll either have to turn left or right onto Dayton Boulevard. There is a Sonic and Subway a little ways if you turn right; a Chinese Restaurant, Baskin-Robbins, and others if you choose left. The Amigo's that pigpen874 mentioned is in downtown RB, but it's quite the distance from RBHS--you turn right on Dayton Boulevard and then continue WAY right. Amigos is about 8-10 minutes from RBHS via Dayton Boulevard; Sonic around 5-6; the Chinese place 3-4; Baskin-Robbins 3-4; Subway 4-5.
  7. Yeah the school has loads of parking. They have 5 different lots around the school, including a huge lot around the south end of the stadium, and the stadium itself is really nice. The away stands may seem a little bit small, but it's really only a problem if Gibbs has a moderately large to huge band. However, the only real problem with the stadium is that for the most part, it's really hard to get a good view of the game unless you're parked on a small area on the highway or you're actually within the fence. There's also no visiting team locker room, and behind both home and away stands there are steep slopes with fencing so you really gotta be inside the gates to get a good view. Parking isn't a problem--not paying admission to get in probably will be.
  8. Oooh, my tummy grumbled. Don't let that record fool you. Tyner is actually really competitive. Their big losses came early in the season, and they lost at home to baylor (somehow) 41-0, and after a sloppy 47-35 win at hixson, the ram train started moving. It slowed down after a one-point loss to McCallie, and picked up lost speed and then slowed down just a bit after a very close loss to Red Bank at home. Ever since then, the Ram Train has been rollin', rollin', rollin'. They smothered Howard for the 25th-ish year in a row. They beat a tough Brainerd team on the road. But now the Ram Train is travelling to the uncharted lands of Blount County? Unless you're playing Heritage or William Blount, you're going to face all kinds of obstacles on your train tracks. But your train just may have what it takes to push the obstacles out of the way. Don't count on it though. Alcoa 35, Tyner 7
  9. Well, it's been almost two months since Red Bank beat East Ridge. Ya'll definitely have so much more experience and strategy now than then. Fulton is going to be tough though. And the winner of this game is going to be travelling to Red Bank or hosting Gibbs. I'm sure both teams definitely want the latter happening. Since East Ridge has gotten so much better, I think that may have a shot. Fulton is good, but East Ridge just might make the trip and come home with all the marbles. It's kind of a longshot though, but definitely out there
  10. Red Bank finished its 3rd perfect regular season in 4 years last night. The Lions are also the only undefeated team remaining in 4A. Potentially, they could host the first four games of the playoffs (with them being a one seed and if they get to the semifinals, they get to host because in odd-numbered years, if two teams are the same seed rank, the top-bracket team hosts), which could make our road to state very easy. First up on the menu is Gibbs. Do any Knoxville (or Chattanooga, or anywhere else) fans have any info at all on Gibbs? All I know is that they're 6-4 and 4th in their district. Will the 2 hour trip down here be fruitful?
  11. We played Central and when I was at that game, Red Bank had a hard time scoring on them in the first half...it was 0-0 during the RB-Central game. Second half, though, we ran them over again and again. Either we toughened up, or they got tired. If the latter is so, then Central is a team that gets tired somewhat quickly. But they do play hard football...for a little bit. Greeneville should probably have little trouble with Central, because most of Central's wins have come against mostly low-caliber teams. You never know, though. Also, on a side note, Central has a somewhat big mouth too. The day of the RB-Central game, I heard they put "Go pounders; Pounders 47, Red Bank 7" on their front-of-school marquee. We won 35-0.
  12. Has anyone brought up the point that this game is for outright first place in the district? Red Bank and Tyner will both be keeping that in mind. This is likely going to be one of the most anticipated games for both teams--but particularly the players that imablustar pointed out in big blue letters. I think Red Bank comes in and de-rails the Ram Train. I don't expect it to be all that close, but I do expect it to be fun. However, I do give Tyner a chance of making the playoffs. Red Bank 35 Tyner 14
  13. They will have to play one of the Knoxville area teams, in either the 1st or 2nd round. That gives them a slim chance of getting past those two rounds. Most likely Fulton or Gibbs, and if they somehow get past them, then Red Bank will be waiting for them.
  14. Central hasn't really played anybody overly impressive...except probably Sequatchie Co. When Central beat Howard at Howard by a point, that was a big surprise, but that Howard is already 1-4 (their only win coming against a Notre Dame team that barely defeated two horrible opponents) is an even bigger surprise. Silverdale is much smaller than Central (1A playoff) and Hixson has had a very struggling season thus far. When South Pittsburg did their thing against Central last week, I hope that Central and their fans woke up from their daydream. What's more, Red Bank is going to bring Central more of the same as what South Pitt did--only this time, it's going to be at Red Bank and not Central. Also, Keon Williams sat out the Red Bank game with turf toe last week. He is going to play on October 2nd, but Red Bank got off to a 45-point halftime lead without him. Even though Cleveland's four main players were all suspended from this game, including their star running back Terrell Parks, it's hard to imagine that they could've scored one to three more touchdowns or reduce Red Bank's score by two or three. Red Bank is going to have an easy second half of their regular season. Their biggest challenge by far will be Brainerd, but they should have no problem with everyone else.
  15. Red Bank gave no mercy last night. We were up 24-0 at the end of the first qtr...touchdown, back-to-back safeties, touchdown, PAT-less touchdown. Then three more touchdowns...45-0 half. Then we got a touchdown with our second- and third-string teams. Cleveland finally got a touchdown in the last three minutes of the game. All this, ladies and gentlemen, without the prized running back Keon Williams playing for Red Bank. Red Bank had a good fight against Boyd, a showy first half against East Ridge, a spectacular game vs. Soddy, a titanic blowout vs. Howard, and a huge "mauling" (as the paper describes it) of Cleveland. Is there ANYONE, and I mean ANYONE, who can compete with Red Bank this year?!?!
  16. Red Bank is 5-0 after two straight decisive wins. We're #1 ranked in the state in 4A, and Central was #10 ranked in the same class this past week. Now they're coming down to the jungle for Red Bank's homecoming. Does Central have any chance?
  17. Would never had predicted a score like 62-14. I guess Howard will be just Tornado Meat for Alcoa now. Also, I heard that Cleveland's Terrell Parks got ejected during the Cleveland-McMinn Co. game and that he would not be playing in the Cleveland-Red Bank game. Does anyone know if that's true? If it is, that would be great.
  18. Red Bank wins 44-30 in a thrilling finish. Soddy took a 16-0 lead just under 3 minutes in the second. Keon Williams then scored on an 8-yard run to close the gap to 16-7 at halftime. Red Bank received the ball to start the third. They drew first blood in the second half, on a 33-yard completion to Kameno Watson for a TD to make it 16-14 Soddy. Williams then brought down the house again after Soddy failed to convert to give RB their first lead at 21-16. However, Soddy then got their own touchdown right before the 3rd quarter ended, but a blocked kick by Daymond Williams kept the score at Soddy 22, Red Bank 21 at the end of the third. Jeremy Simpson got a big touchdown for Soddy with 10:00 in the fourth. A conversion followed, giving Soddy a 30-21 lead. The next RB drive resulted in a punt, but Talon Harris muffed the ball and Red Bank recovered on the Soddy 40. After two passes to Kelvin Clay, RB scored again. A good PAT shortened the Soddy lead to just 2. The next Soddy possession lasted just 3 minutes. As the Trojans were approaching the end zone, Scott Parrott threw a pick to Keith Mayes with 4:45 left; a facemask penalty gave the Lions 50 yards to their precious end zone. The very next play, Williams ran all 50 in one play. Mayes ran for a conversion, and Red Bank led 36-30 with 4:34 left. But the next play sealed Soddy's fate--more or less. Harris returned the kickoff from the one to the 35, before the ball got loose and Daymond Williams recovered. With 2:39 remaining, Tim Dews found the end zone and Red Bank's 44-30 lead (and eventual win) iced Soddy for good.
  19. Well put, RBlionfan. I was at the East Ridge game last week and I noticed that our offense basically shut them down in the second quarter--Keon had two rushing TDs, Clay had a kickoff return for a TD, and Mayes had a TD--and our defense allowed very few first downs and got a few big INTs and caused fumbles. Basically, our defense (and offense) gave East Ridge fits. Their only touchdown came when we put our JV team on the field. Soddy is no East Ridge though, and they have some pretty good players, such as the two Parrott brothers. I don't know many game stats from the SD-Ooltewah game, but we faced them in a passing scrimmage at Hixson and won 3 touchdowns to 2 I think. But it should be a really good matchup. Red Bank fans almost completely filled the home side Tom Weathers Field stands, and they came en masse to East Ridge too. I have a feeling parking will be ridiculous, but it should be worth it for this great game. I also am thinking a 28-17 Red Bank win.
  20. Red Bank is going up 27 to their big rival Soddy Daisy. Soddy won last year, 33-22, but Red Bank won the previous three meetings. Are there any trojan fans out there who would like to give out their thoughts? Cause otherwise it's gonna be Blue Nation ruling all night long!!!
  21. Red Bank is definitely no CCS. We're very deep in running depth and we return almost every person on last year's offense in general. Newest (and biggest) addition is RB Keon Williams, 6'1" 215, 4.5 40 yard dash, and our tailback depth goes four deep: Williams, Keith Mayes (6'0" 200), Tim Dews (5'10" 190), and Shamell Brummitt (6'0" 200). QB Andy Christopher (6'1" 190) is back with a year's experience under his belt, and his three main targets (seniors Shawn McClesky and Josh Robinson and junior Kelvin Clay) are also back with the same experience. Our defense, last year led by Miguel Sanchez, Geoff Kelley, and B.J. Jones, is now replaced by a core of seniors: Williams, DL Malcolm Goines (6'2" 240), DL Kevin Fortson (6'3" 220), Anthony Rogers (6'0" 200), Julian Reed (6'1" 195), and Jeremy Jackson (5'10" 180). Offensive line are led by OL Will Troxler (6'1" 230), C Greg Evans (5'10" 190), and Mikie Burnette (5'10" 210). With Williams with Red Bank now, our running game has drastically improved. If Boyd's defense doesn't stop Williams or any of the other 3 tailbacks well enough, the game may be a blowout early, somewhat like what Boyd did to CCS last night. I'm not saying they aren't going to; it's just a likely result if they don't. But more than likely Boyd's defense will have some stops of our running backs and we will punt or attempt a field goal. From what I hear, Boyd's defense is based on defense--big, strong, defense. Well, Red Bank has much of the same, if not more or less. If Boyd's offense gets going early, that may set the tone for Red Bank to step up, Boyd to get fired up easily, or both. I think Red Bank will have this game, though it won't be easy, that's for sure. Red Bank will probably get a few running touchdowns and a few field goals, as well as a few stops and maybe an INT or two. But maybe not, to all of those. I think Boyd will get a TD or two from Ben Beasley, and then maybe a pass TD or two. But Boyd should be aware that if our defense gets going, it may be difficult to pass the ball effectively because Jeremy Jackson and Anthony Rogers especially have had a knack for picking off passes in all the preseason scrimmages. Both teams may have a fumble or two. Also, Boyd beat Red Bank in the passing scrimmage at Hixson in late July, after Red Bank had beaten three teams in a row by a sizeable margin in each game. But then, in the full scrimmage at BBS, Red Bank took advantage of its running and beat Boyd easily, under moderated rules, if I remember correctly. I think this game depends much on Boyd being able to stop Red Bank's running game and Red Bank's defense finding answers to Boyd's O. Here are my predictions, with changing conditions: 1. If Red Bank's running game gets going early and Boyd can't find a good answer, as well as Red Bank's defense plays exceptionally well: Red Bank 42, Boyd-Buc 10 2. Same as #1, but Red Bank's defense playing not as well and Boyd's defense finding an answer: Red Bank 28, Boyd-Buc 17 (seems most likely to me) 3. Boyd's defense usually (i.e. 70-80% of the time) finding an answer, with a few big breakthroughs, and Red Bank's defense playing average: Red Bank 24, Boyd-Buc 17 4. Boyd's defense consistently (i.e. 80-99%) stopping Red Bank's running game, and Red Bank's defense being average to poor: Boyd-Buc 28, Red Bank 20 5. Boyd's defense making big plays, and Red Bank playing horrible both ways: Boyd-Buc 38, Red Bank 10
  22. If you count touchdowns, field goals and PATs from all strings, then Red Bank won 19-17. Red Bank's passing game was somewhat sloppy, with a few interceptions, but their running game was very good, with Keon breaking Maryville's defense twice in one run for a 45-50 yard touchdown run. Brummitt also had a touchdown run, and Mayes and Dews also had a few, small runs. Maryville's offense seemed like a mirror image of Red Bank's: solid passing game (usually with big hits after a pass was caught), but their running game almost always never got over 5 yards from what I recall. If you count all strings, the kicking game is what decided the victor. Red Bank got 2 field goals, but missed the PAT after their second touchdown. Maryville got both PATs they tried, but their kicker missed two field goals from 50 and 38 yards, and got one from 34-35. Fun scrimmage to watch.
  23. I'm not sure bout Maryville, but Red Bank had Keon (#4), Shammell Brummitt (#5), Keith Mayes (#6), and Tim Dews (#22). Keon is the new transfer from North Carolina. I heard it was his b-day yesterday too!
  24. Basically, the format seemed like both teams started with their first team, then both moved on to their 2nd team after about 30-45 minutes, and 3rd team from then on out. Red Bank's passing game wasn't too good last night, with Maryville getting a few INTs off of Christopher. But I noticed that Maryville got at least 4 fumbles, and RB got at least 2 of them back. Most of the big hits were made after the ball was passed and caught, so I guess the secondary is where most of the big hits occured. However, for both teams, there were also quick running stops (tackled almost immediately after being handed the ball), pile-ups, and sacks. I recall most of the big hits happening after a caught pass, but the rest were generally bigger hits after running plays. On the whole, Maryville had a good passing game that Red Bank had inadequate coverage with, while Red Bank's running game broke through Maryville's D-line several times, sometimes leading to a touchdown. The teams were very evenly matched throughout the entire night. I think Red Bank won by only a field goal. Although Andy Ramirez (RB kicker) got two field goals from less than 30 yards each, he missed a PAT try. Maryville's kicker, however, missed two field goals from (I think) 51 yards and 38 yards, but he got all PAT attempts and the other field goals. I'm not sure of what the score was, but I think it was Red Bank 19, Maryville 17. I am sure, though, that Red Bank won. I'm also certain that it was a great scrimmage and it was fun to watch. Best of luck to Maryville. Hope ya'll have another great season.
