  1. From the Tennessean: Brentwood Fires Baseball Coach
  2. Sorry! It was 31-28. Kuivinen for Franklin threw for a lot of yards but threw 4 interceptions. Franklin struggled running the ball but kept trying. Brentwood ran the ball well and got some big plays through the air from Webber.
  3. In the blink of any eye Franklin responds with an 80 yard TD pass to pull within three points at 31-28.
  4. Brentwood adds a field goal and now leads 31-21 with 8 minutes to go in the 4th quarter.
  5. In a blink of an eye Brentwood responds with a long TD pass to take back the lead 28-21.
  6. Franklin ties the game 21-21 late in the 3rd quarter. They were down 21-7.
  7. 0-0 after a sloppy 1st quarter. I get the feeling that if Franklin gets it together offensively they're going to win this game.
  8. Please! The coach is gone. Let it die. He was in over his head and was rightfully let go. It's time to move on.
  9. Jesse Gavigan is the shortstop. He's a senior and a pretty good athlete in his own right. Little is a good athlete but based on what I've seen these last two years he's been a bit over-hyped. I'm not saying he isn't a decent high school player but there was a lot of talk about him being better than Indy's Josh Lee and in my opinion he's not even in the same ball park as Lee. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 3rd baseman, Sistrunk (?), move over to shortstop next year with Gavigan gone.
  10. Offensively Franklin wasn't much better last year from what I saw. The difference was their pitching. Falletta is a solid pitcher but he's pretty much all they have this year. Last year they had Colton Robertson, Tyler Harris, Michael Patton, and Joey Falletta. You're going to be more competitive when you have four quality arms instead of one.
  11. Nothing is wrong with the Rebels. They just aren't very good. They aren't a very good hitting team and with the exception of Joey Falletta their pitching staff is average at best. I've seen a lot of players being over-hyped on this team but Falletta should be the player being talked about. For two years I have watched this young man compete on the mound and make life difficult for opposing teams yet he barely gets mentioned. Kind of interesting since he has consistently produced at the varsity level against the better teams, not just the Hillwood's and Hillsboro's of the world.
  12. I haven't heard anything about Franklin being under investigation but I do know that the administration there made a good decision when they hired Frank Glover. He's a good man and he's experienced. Congratulations Frank!
  13. This is a joke right? I've been around this program for a few years now and knew Coach Alumbaugh personally. To suggest that Coach Brown was the disciplinarian is about as laughable as it gets. Brown was the class clown. The guy constantly looking for attention and cracking jokes with the players. Most of which were extremely inappropriate. Maybe that's why you liked him so much? When you become the head coach you don't get to be one of the kids anymore. You're in a position of power and influence and that requires some maturity and humility. Without it things can go south quickly and that is what has happened here. It's time for a change.
  14. Franklin is apparently interviewing candidates for their head baseball coaching position. Does anybody know who has applied? I heard that their coach from last season is still in the running but it doesn't sound like he will be back.
  15. Andy Hillis (Brentwood) was drafted in the 49th round (1479 overall) by the St. Louis Cardinals.
  16. 1Htsalsa, That makes way too much sense to be true. Besides, if Franklin is somehow able to get passed Overton and then loses to Independence, Burroboy411 wouldn't have an excuse. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  17. Burroboy411 you need to relax a little. There's more to life than Franklin Rebels baseball. I'm an alum and even I know that. Franklin had a good run. If Brent Alumbaugh is still coaching who knows, maybe they pull it off, but those young men fought hard to the end, which is to be commended considering how poor their leadership was from the dugout. You can blame the district losses they suffered on the umpires, a game being moved to a different date than originally scheduled, or the lack of field lighting, but the reality of it is that they just didn't have enough to get the job done. Now they have to win the district tournament to make it out. It's possible, but not likely, and that's okay because there will still be a tomorrow. Remember, there is more to life than Franklin Rebels baseball.
  18. Hands down the best position player in District 11 and it's not even close.
  19. I just think it was a young player showing a little frustration. Unfortunately he doesn't have the kind of leadership in the dugout required to know any better.
  20. That was a big win for Franklin last night. Three "must win" games remaining. Tonight's game should be a good one.
  21. Franklin not hitting the baseball is nothing new. That's been the story all season long. Now Franklin has to sweep Overton and Ravenwood to win the regular season championship. It's possible, but not likely. Independence on the other hand has clawed there way back and are only one game behind the Rebels. If they can keep it rolling they just might make some noise come playoff time.
  22. Here's an article from the Tennessean: Brentwood baseball coach resigns, disputes reason
  23. I haven't seen Independence play yet but I've seen Franklin play twice and they haven't looked very good. Blackman really hit them hard. The other game I saw them play was against Columbia. They were winning that game but left their pitcher out there too long and Columbia came back and won it. It's early in the season so I'm sure they'll improve.
