  1. That beat down was real nice by south greene lol and I believe butlers play in the state tournament speaks for itself who the best senior point guard is No doubt about it! Heather Butler is an awesome player & an even more awesome young lady! She makes her teammates better, never complains, takes responsibility for her mistakes on the court and always acts with the greatest of class! I don't find any reason to compare her to anyone cause she is one of a kind! I'm sure all of the other girls mentioned on this thread are great, too. There is no reason to compare them, but it is an honor to congratulate them & wish them the best in the future. Heather is a humble young lady & she deserves any positive recognition. As a parent, I can't think of a better role model for young ladies in Gibson County! We were blessed to have 4 wonderful seniors on our team that could teach all of us how to act with class. Thank you, Heather Butler! Good luck at UTM - we will sure miss you!! Best of luck to all seniors going on to play in college - God bless!
  2. I have found the whole Reedy family to be class acts! GC is very glad that they made a change to our district. And they really did make a change - if you know what I mean! lol Anyone who is a parent knows that parents will do what is best for their children. Some will do it the right way & some will do it in any way it takes. The Reedy's did it the right way. The whole family is friendly & respectful! Hope Aubrey continues to succeed on the court at UTM - no doubt, she will be successful in life cause she is a great individual!
  3. Can't DC recruit referees like they do players? lol That would stop this from happening again next year! In all seriousness, the refs can't continue to affect the outcome of "one & done" games. The game should be decided by the players on the floor. Most fans realize that refs are making calls in the heat of action & will never please everyone, but this kind of situation is different. It should be pretty obvious that you "fix" the call if you've screwed up & the # you called isn't even on the floor. I'm sorry for DC if this cost them the game - nothing fair about that no matter who you pull for.
  4. Speaking from simply a fan's perspective, watching SG, GC & all the teams that participated in AA this year was a pleasure. The girls showed a lot of class and heart. Basketball is a game &, yes, we all want to win, but, in the end, the caliber of the person is what matters. And, being from 13AA, we know the caliber of girls that play for GC & Westview, but we also witnessed the caliber of girls playing for the other schools up in M'boro. Parents, coaches & school administration, Congratulations on the young ladies that you have "raised". They are all winners!
  5. McMinn Central played a great game & it could have gone either way. Looking back on it now, it was a very exciting and entertaining game! In the moment, it was hard to appreciate what McMinn did in the first half & what GC did in the second. Thats why as a GC fan, I would love to see the game on tape now that it's finally sunk in that GC won! Both teams had a great season & every reason to be proud. Congratulations! Both #11's put on a show, but each team played as a team and it was an impressive performance by both groups.
  6. Will the games be rebroadcast? It would be nice to be able to watch the AA game again - what a game!!
  7. 4 of the best young ladies you would ever want to meet!!!To be great ball players on top of it is just icing on the cake!! Good luck to each of you - we will miss you on and off the court. Your parents have raised wonderful girls and should be very proud! God bless you as you move forward to the next phase of life.
  8. I was surprised to see that Fussell averages more assists than Butler. IMO, Butler makes those around her better players. There is no doubt that both of these girls are great players! I don't know Fussell, but Butler is a class act on & off the court. Congratulations to both on their high school careers & best of luck at the next level. To all the 13AA seniors, we will sure miss you!! The best compliment you can receive is for someone to say - "she's a great ball player & she's an even better person". May that always be your goal!!
  9. Khadijah really impressed me ALOT with her hustle. She may not be the best offensive player on the court, but her defensive pressure and hustle she puts in makes up for it! I think now that Haynes and Khadijah have gotten that first game out of the way, they'll shoot the ball better. I agree about Khadijah - she played great defense yesterday. I hope you're right about shooting the ball better. Go GC!!!!!
  10. I hope Gibson County vs Westview, but as long as GC is playing Saturday, I'll be happy!
  11. 2 13AA teams in the final 4 of the state. littleo, are we real yet???? Where are you?? Go Westview and Gibson County!!!
  12. I think you will see more balanced scoring on Friday! CPA's size was a factor in yesterday's game and I agree that nerves may have played a part in GC's poor shooting. I think it's also an adjustment for the girls with the free standing goals.
  13. There is a great picture of the play on the front page of the Jackson Sun Sports page. Shows clearly that the CPA girl was going for the ball - and this is coming from a GC fan! Again, just glad that Heather is ok! Not a flagrant foul no matter who you cheer for.
  14. I was in the GC cheering section right in front of the play - it WAS NOT a flagrant foul. It was a scary moment for GC fans & so glad Butler is ok. CPA played a great game - they were very physical & their size bothered us. We made several bad passes as a result. Heather Butler was amazing but, as a team, we didn't play that well. Think CPA deserves a lot of credit for that. Congratulations to both teams! Take care of business GC!
  15. Just curious as to whether littleo still thinks West TN still needs to be real? It's amazing how folks get on here talking smack & then disappear when things don't go "as talked". Westview & GC showed how real they were on Saturday night. I was at the GC game & there's just not much to say about it, but it sounds like the Westview game was competitive & Fairley has every reason to be proud of a great effort. However, until you win at sectionals & make noise at state, I wouldn't go on here telling rural West Tn to "BE REAL". We may be country, but the ball bounces the same on these old country courts, too. Guess the refs caused GC to win by 40+ and gave Westview the game down in Memphis? You don't hear too much whining down here in West TN.
