  1. I don't know that the kids have confidence in him or don't because I'm not close to the situation, but if it were my coach back in my playing heydays I certainly would question why I was playing for a guy as a kid. The question is whether he was really leaving or not I would suppose. Anyway, that is my thought on that. My opinion on whether Halls will be successful or not is based on a couple things. Are the offensive and defensive strategies changing? As in a major overhaul!? And have there been any coaching changes that would benefit the program? If some changes were made then I'd say that Halls could have a shot at being somewhat successful this year. Otherwise, I'm not so sure. Things are looking a lot better over the ridge and down emory road than many would have expected at this point so it sounds like Halls will be third amongst their in region rivals.
  2. I'd say you are wrong because Single A plays against Single A and double vs. double and triple vs triple. I've seen triple A schools make it to the state championship game with one Ace and one near Ace before. Overall I like the plan. Instead of having two important games to get to state after district, there would be what 3 or 4?
  3. well the latest rumor I'm hearing is one of the young coaches is out and coach Julian is going to ask a former player to come on the staff. Any ideas as to who this former player would be?
  4. Who says hog mularky? I mean really, come on! Any of the coaches go to the UT clinic last weekend? I bet that was interesting! Also, why are you glad 'KJ' is staying at Halls? Aren't you the one questioning his loyalties to the program and everything earlier on this thread? I would go back to read them but I'm in a lazy mood tonight for some reason.
  5. Why do you have to host it at Neyland for the Knoxville bid? Maybe that's what the bid is. I haven't looked at the proposals nor do I know where to look if I even can look. I'll tell you one thing, I would love to have it played there when I was in school, but it wasn't. I kind of wish my boys could have the chance to merely play the jamboree there when they get older, but who knows if Knox County Schools will return there in the future. Anyways, if you don't want a big venue or don't have the money for it...the Knoxville area has a couple of smaller colleges in surrounding counties that have nice facilities. There might be a college in the county that has a football program that I'm not familiar with. Anyway, just a thought.
  6. I believe the cats graduated a large senior class but with the new coach coming in I would expect some more of the athletes to come out for football and I'd say Oak Ridge surprises some this coming season. I'd give them 7 wins for sure, maybe 8 or 9.
  7. Can you disclose what coaches are wanting to leave or are looking for better opportunities for themselves and/or families? I certainly agree that Halls is a difficult place to be. The expectations are very high from the armchair coaches I have to sit beside week in and week out. I don't like a lot of the things going on down there on the field but a fan needs to trust the coaches a little bit on getting the kids in the right spots. I just want to know why our program has yet to evolve out of the 80s-90s era and is still running kids in with the plays. At least I saw Coach Shephard signaling plays or formations or something in. Heck, even if it meant absolutely nothing I'd take that over nothing at all. At least someone on the offensive staff would get a little extra exercise every Friday night that we have a game.
  8. I believe that was my point. If it's true, then it's a fact. If it's false, then it's a lie. You can't have false truths. It just doesn't make sense.
  9. I'm not disagreeing with you about someone else calling the offense ProVol. I simply know that Kilgore had little to do with the freshmen offenses. He happens to be a bud of mine and I know for a fact he loves defense and hates offense. I know he coached offense last year but it's not his passion. A good coach can coach any position fairly well and has his position or two which he excels in more so than others. Now Kilgore did speak to me two years ago about how he would hate to be an opposing coach having to defend the Halls freshmen offense because of the many different looks it gave opposing defenses, but that was the extent of his opinions on the offense and how it was run. I also know for a fact that Kilgore wasn't the Halls freshmen head coach because I asked KJ that 3 years ago since he wasn't on the field and he said it was him, KJ that is, because he doesn't designate head coaches for freshmen or j.v. Also ProVol, don't tell me I can't read or have no idea what is going on in life. I just told you what's been going on with this coach Kilgore that your claims were wrong on. So take what you said and apply it to yourself. Oh and eliminate some of the false facts you keep throwing out. Good day
  10. When has Kilgore called an offensive play? I thought his forte was the defensive side of the ball and I thought he had nothing to do with the freshmen this past season? Didn't Flynn call the offense the two years he was there? I don't know who did after that but I highly doubt it was Kilgore based on what he's said about offense in the past.
  11. From what I've read on these message boards the past few years, if HTV hasn't heard it then it probably isn't so. I'm not sure why that is, but HTV certainly seems to have a grasp on the north Knoxville area.
  12. I think it's just a matter of semantics. I teach my linebackers to go from hook to curl and curl to flat going from inside backers to outside, that is when I don't just bring more than the offense can block and man up on the outside.
  13. I can help you out with the routes he described. The wheel is your typical out and up or out and go that you described. A dig route is a variation of the curl route really. It's more of a precise deep in where the WR sits down in the window that opens between LBs or LB and SS.
