  1. Reality is the male athletic programs at Portland are not very good. Football, Basketball & Baseball in the last 3-5 years have been horrendous. If you add last years win total of those three sports you may equal 15 or maybe less. Win total vs teams in their classification is under 10. Portland folk, principal, assistant principal, athletic director, and former athletic director pass the buck on and point the blame elsewhere. They are niave when the REALITY is they are not very good. Can it be more blunt and to the point??? People who grew up in Portland usually don't leave town. Why? Because they are so niave that they cannot function in the real world. 95% of the teachers went to PHS. They don't see what everyone else sees. The best thing about Portland is leaving town. There are no fixes. Portland male athletics is doing more harm then good. They are putting young men through 4 years of losing. All they know how to do is lose. They will then take that 4 years of losing mentality and carry it over in to their adulthood. They will be fine with a losing mentality forever because that is all they know how to do or they will blame it on something else and never be accountable for themselves. That is the cold hard truth. Drop athletics and use that money to pump in the academic programs which are the lowest in the county. They can then use that education to do more good in society.
  2. Coach Aric's attempt at scheduling a 1A school to get a win has backfired. Little ole 1A Clarksville Academy came into Edgar Johnson Stadium and beat the laughable panthers 7-3 on homecoming. Maybe next year they can schedule one of the local middle school teams. It’s officially official, Portland football is ___________. You can fill in the blank. Portland should seriously consider dropping football or either move to 8 man football and request special permission to play with 11. The folks in Portland are naïve and the principal, athletic director, and former athletic director are leading the charge of stupidity. Together they have hired & fired coaches passing the blame on to them instead of taking off their blinders and stepping into what everyone else sees and that is reality! Seriously its embarrassing.
  3. Beat themselves, your right! We can hit people in the back & hold & score touchdowns too. You gotta do it the right way! There is somethin special about this Portland team. You just wait and see. Coach Aric gonna bring the hurt down tonight. Porter couldnt even hold his jockey strap.
  4. Porltand has this one in the bag folks. We almost beat Beech last week and they are way better then White House. Don't look for the Panthers to let this one slip through our hands. Porter don't even have a prayer for what Aric and the boys are about to bring. Yall just go about ya business thinkin you better then everyone else! Panthers 34 WH 17
  5. Regardless who the smallest school in AAA is…Who wants this job? Combine the genes of Phil Jackson, Dean Smith, Mike Krzyzewski , John Wooden, etc… and it wouldn’t matter. I wouldn’t recommend anyone taking a coaching job in any male sport at Portland High School. You won’t be successful and you will get fired. Unrealistic expectations and below average talent for AAA competition. Basketball coach was fired, football coach was fired, and the baseball team has avg maybe 3-4 wins a season over the last 3 years.
  6. The football team had their annual end of the year banquet on Monday. Between 1/2 - 2/3 of the people I spoke to was not happy with the decision to move forward with a new coach. I know that is water under the bridge but it was very apparent. Those same people were also a little disappointed that Coach Aric did not attend the banquet. Regardless it was a great banquet. Coach Sanders left on a emotional note and showed a lot of class and humility. Time to move forward and wish the best of luck to the Panthers in 11.
  7. Non-district White House & Greenbrier, and Clarksville Academy are non-district I guess someone forgot to tell Coach Aric that you usually only schedule 5 homes games in 1 year, but there are 6 home games next year. Week 0 Beech Home Week 1 White House Away Week 2 Mt. Juliet Away Week 3 Greebrier Home Week 4 Hendersonville Home Week 5 Clarksville Ac. Home Week 6 Wilson Central Home Week 7 Lebanon Away Week 8 OPEN Week 9 Gallatin Home Week 10 Station Camp Away I see at least 4-5 wins on the schedule or at least that is what the principal is saying
  8. Don't think I would get rid of the big guy. No, I don't like the record, but the kids love him and respect him. If they did I wouldn't be surprised either, but I don't think now is the time. Eers, why do you have so much insight to Aric getting the job? Sounds kind of shady. Why would a coach bring someone in to get replaced by him? Aric ran the defense this year and has been involved in 3 wins compared to Sanders 1 the last 2 years.
  9. Congrats to the Panthers. Really liked what Coach Sanders and the coaching staff had to say at the end of the game. Really puts things into prospectice. Great job by those young men. My apologizes for doubting them and the defense. I will eat my crow. Also, congrats to Coach Aric for beating his old team. To SWO: Great insight on the offense. To EERS: It is obvious you know more then any of us. Maybe your talents would best be suited for the ranks of the SEC or NFL rather then CoachT. High School coaches can't hold a candle to all your wisdom and knowledge.
  10. It shouldn't be hard destroying Coach Aric's D. They have given up 39 points a game. Their defensive was better last year when he wasn’t coaching at Portland.
  11. I am the guy in the stands that tells everyone what they are doing wrong.
  12. I am predicting eers will finally come out of the closet and change his username to qu eers.
  13. Perhaps if your username began with qu.
  14. That is what I said. Portland's schedule is weak. ¿No Comprende? el stupido? You are talking about the same White House team that was 1 point and a bad call away from beating the 5A state champs.
  15. I agree, Portland has an easy schedule. They start off with Greenwood out of Kentucky. They were 1 game away from playing in the state championship game last year in the higgest classification. White House was in the playoffs last year and never a cupcake. Greenbrier was competing for the district title in the last game of the season. On top of that 9AAA is no cake walk.
  16. I wish some of you had a brain and could hence the sarcasm that comes from P Town Panthers mouth, but you continue to argue with him and that’s exactly what he wants. He knows there terrible, but he wants to continue talking them up and getting everyone fired up.
  17. That just too funny about Portland. Against Beech who you have number 1 and deservingly so the score was 10-3 at halftime. Portland had 19 first downs, which I think is the most that Beech has given up all year. Unfortunately, they threw 3 picks including one in the endzone to start the game. WR also missed a wide open pass in the endzone right before the half. Final 34-18 I don’t think P-Town is as bad as you claim. However, it is clear they don’t have the depth that other Sumner County Schools have. Good luck to the Bucs!!!
  18. The previous coaching staff were excellent coaches. The problem was bigger then that. I guess that's really my point, but it was really easy for the community and all the "fans" to blame the coaches. They were good guys and good coaches.the problem is reality. A mule isn't going to win the Kentucky Derby... The previous coaching staff were excellent coaches. However, how you treat players, parents, and administration is totally different. There is a reason why you had 8+ players (a lot of them being starters) parents, and community quit on the staff last year 3 games into the season.
  19. The previous coaching staff were excellent coaches. The problem was bigger then that.
  20. Yes, I believe so. It's also the first time Portland has played in 5A. That's true but aren't you playing several of the same schools you have been playing for the past 4 years? Yes, they played Beech, Station Camp, Greenbrier, Mt. Juliet, & White House last year. They lost to all of those teams last year and this year.
  21. Yes, I believe so. It's also the first time Portland has played in 5A. Didn't they lose to other teams that were not 5A or 6A? Station Camps 1st year in 5A. I was at PHS and MJ game and there is some talent on that team. I don't know why your coach didn't keep passing the ball on MJ. MJ couldn't stop the short passes. It looks like a lack of coaching at least from the game I seen them play. The kids looked as they were giving it their all. I believe Portland threw the ball 38 times that game. Check your facts before you open your ignorant mouth. Which 1 of the 4 varsity coaches is slacking?
  22. Yes, I believe so. It's also the first time Portland has played in 5A.
  23. Well, arn't you the expert. You don't see them winning a game this year? C'mon..there next three are Gallatin, Hendersonville & Mt. Juliet.
  24. Excuse me... they did play in 66. I didn't have a score on that. Maybe I counted wrong on the W-L as well. 1944 SCHS 6 Gallatin 7 1947 SCHS 7 Gallatin 19 1948 SCHS 0 Gallatin 26 1949 SCHS 0 Gallatin 0 1950 SCHS 6 Gallatin 6 1951 SCHS 6 Gallatin 0 1952 SCHS 25 Gallatin 13 1953 SCHS 13 Gallatin 6 1954 SCHS 27 Gallatin 0 1955 SCHS 0 Gallatin 6 1956 SCHS 0 Gallatin 27 1957 SCHS 0 Gallatin 20 1958 SCHS 27 Gallatin 0 1959 SCHS 19 Gallatin 0 1960 SCHS 20 Gallatin 0 1961 SCHS 14 Gallatin 0 1962 PHS 25 Gallatin 6 1963 PHS 7 Gallatin 7 1964 PHS 12 Gallatin 0 1965 PHS 13 Gallatin 0 1966 PHS Gallatin 1967 PHS 7 Gallatin 14 1968 PHS 6 Gallatin 35 1969 PHS 0 Gallatin 18 1970 PHS 0 Gallatin 35 1971 PHS 12 Gallatin 14 1972 DNP 1973 DNP 1974 PHS 0 Gallatin 35 1975 PHS 0 Gallatin 14
  25. The Gallatin & Portland series ran from 1944-1975 Gallatin 18 Wins, Portland 12 wins & 3 Ties. Did not play in 66, 72, 73
