  1. Tonight, MTSN is proud to present a high school hockey doubleheader from the Centennial SportsPlex. Our first game features Ensworth taking on Hendersonville. Coverage starts at 6:50 PM, with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 PM. Our second game of the night features Pope John Paul II taking on Wilson Central/Brentwood Academy. Coverage is scheduled to start at 8:20 PM, with the game scheduled to start at 8:35 PM. Tomorrow night, we head back to the Sommet Center, as Independence-Page takes on Centennial. Coverage is supposed to start at 9:45 PM, but it depends on when the Canadiens-Predators game finishes. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 PM. As always, all games are available to be heard, watched, whatever, at www.middletennesseesportsnetwork.com.
  2. I have heard through the grapevine that Riverdale 3rd baseman Megan Chesney will sign with UT Martin this Wednesday.
  3. The Middle Tennessee Sports Network is now in hockey mode. Tonight, from the Southern Ice Arena, we present two big matchups. First, Brentwood and Centennial. Our coverage of this game begins at 6:25 PM. Afterward, we present Wilson Central/Brentwood Academy taking on Hendersonville. Coverage of that game begins at 7:55 PM. You can watch, yes watch, both games FOR FREE at www.middletennesseesportsnetwork.com.
  4. Can't let this go before mentioning Dene Souviney of Riverdale.
  5. We'll have the Brentwood-Centennial game live on MTSN tomorrow night starting at 6:25 (followed by Wilson Central/Brentwood Academy vs. Hendersonville). Last week's game between Brentwood and Franklin was pretty good. Hopefully, this one will be, too.
  6. We decided to broadcast the games by way of video yesterday, a first for us. This will continue for our hockey broadcasts, and will carry over into basketball season. Apologies in advance for the somewhat choppy quality of the videos, we don't have the best stuff, but we're making progress. The audio on both videos is fine. 7. This afternoon, the Sommet Center hosts a high school hockey doubleheader. At 12:50, the puck drops between Franklin and Brentwood, with Beech-Hume Fogg and Station Camp-Hillsboro facing off at 2:40. The Middle Tennessee Sports Network will cover both of these games separately, with game 1 coverage starting at 12:35, and game 2 coverage starting at 2:25. We might try video; we'll decide when we get there. It's all at www.middletennesseesportsnetwork.com.
  8. OK, I'm going to be a man, and explain what happened tonight. We got approval to do the Blackman-Riverdale game about a month ago. It had been on our wish list since the season started. We pretty much figured WGNS would be there; Bryan Barrett even said that would be likely at the Smyrna-Blackman game last month. That was OK, since we get along with them, plus we understood the game was likely going to be very big. A couple of weeks ago, however, we discovered that 104.5 The Zone had also picked the game up. That wasn't a problem, we figured we'd just call the game from the roof. We had done so at the Baylor-Montgomery Bell game last month. Unfortunately, the weather forecast didn't change. We had been hoping all week that the game would be moved, because a game on either day would've eliminated 104.5 (a Preds game on Thursday, and a Vandy game on Saturday night). On Wednesday, we established a backup: if the weather was going to be poor, we head to LaVergne. At around 4:50, last night, I left my house for Riverdale. My executive producer was already there, and in the center booth of the press box. While driving down 24, he called me, and said we couldn't set up our stuff in the press box. There would be too many people. So, we had to make a decision: do the game outdoors, and risk ruining our equipment in the rain, or take our lumps, and go to LaVergne. We made the decision to head to LaVergne. Thankfully, their AD kindly allowed us to broadcast their game. I want to apologize to everyone who tuned in, hoping for the big game. It was just too big of a risk. Our network has no money (those commercials you hear, my exec producer downloads them, because he works in radio; when I worked for Blackman's old network, we'd simply turn down the mics during breaks; when we started MTSN, breaks with dead air were out of the question), and if all our equipment got ruined, we're screwed. Am I angry at 104.5, even though we were secretly hoping for a move up or postponement so they would have to honor their commitments? No, it was a big game, and everyone wanted in on it? Am I mad at Riverdale? No, they can't control the weather. Am I disappointed? Absolutely. Did we make the right call? Absolutely. No more football for us this year; we move onto hockey and basketball. We're so happy we get to be indoors for a while. No more outdoors until baseball and softball. Hopefully, we won't see the buckets of rain we saw last Spring when that time comes around. Again, I apologize for any inconvenience that happened tonight. But it was just to big of a risk for us. Besides, WGNS and 104.5 were there, so the game was covered on all corners. I want to congratulate Blackman and Riverdale on excellent seasons, and wish them the best in the playoffs. The Blaze have proven a lot of doubters wrong, and in the last two weeks, have shown they fear no one. The Warriors are so talented, especially on the ground game. Our first game of the season was their beatdown of Antioch, and they ran all over them that night. Again, apologies. I hope you understand. Michael Hackney Middle Tennessee Sports Network
  9. Proud to say we'll be broadcasting this game as, possibly, our football season finale for this year. Coverage starts at 7 PM at http://www.middletennesseesportsnetwork.com. For those of you coming to the game, stay dry. No need to worry about lightning since the strike count's dropped to zero.
  10. This game is the Middle Tennessee Sports Network's next-to-last football game for 2009. I mean it when I say that Giles County's new digs is my favorite stadium we've been to this year. We were there for the Senior Night game against Lawrence County, and we were amazed at the new stadium. Coverage starts at 7 PM at www.middletennesseesportsnetwork.com.
  11. This game is the Game of the Week for the Middle Tennessee Sports Network for Week 8. Coverage starts @ 6:30 PM at www.middletennesseesportsnetwork.com.
  12. I'm not surprised by that, given how the forecast was supposed to be. http://www.theleafchronicle.com/article/20091009/NEWS01/91009021/Clarksville+High+game+moved+to+Saturday
  13. This game is the second in the Middle Tennessee Sports Network's Thursday Night Football slate. It is an exclusive presentation of our network. Pregame coverage begins at 6:30 PM at http://www.middletennesseesportsnetwork.com. Should note this is our last game of the season involving Davidson County schools.
  14. I'm surprised this topic hasn't been posted yet. This is a game where the two teams in it have a combined loss total of one. The Middle Tennessee Sports Network will be broadcasting this game; it's an exclusive presentation, so we're the only people covering it. Pregame starts at 6:30 PM at www.middletennesseesportsnetwork.com. And a note for anyone coming to the game, it's at McGavock, not Overton. Let's hope for a good one!
  15. If you can't make it to tonight's game, you can hear it online at www.middletennesseesportsnetwork.com. Pregame starts at 6:30.
  16. If I remember correctly, halftime in basketball is 10 minutes, right? And it's 10 minutes in-between the time the girls' game ends to tipoff of the boys' game, right? Thanks.
  17. Chip Hoback. He's also the P.A. guy for Vandy football and basketball (men's and women's). He does a great job.
  18. This Friday, September 18, the Middle Tennessee Sports Network will have live coverage of the Predators Cup rematch between Father Ryan and John Paul II. Listen to coverage beginning at 4:20 PM Central, with puck drop scheduled for 4:30 PM, at www.middletennesseesportsnetwork.com, and be on the lookout for our first full season of high school hockey, Friday Night GNASH, coming in November. Our full schedule will be posted soon.
  19. I'm floored. Seriously. I'm completely floored. http://www.dnj.com/article/20090822/SPORTS08/90822013/1006/SPORTS/Blackman+softball+coach+moves+to+Webb+dual+role
  20. OK, we're on the air now. Sorry about that. Click on the link above.
  21. Is the broadcast off-air? That's what the site is telling us.

  23. 7 AM on Halloween on 104.5 The Zone and TSSAA.org. Will they devote the entire first hour (commercial-free) to explaining who gets in and how? http://www.dnj.com/article/20090820/SPORTS08/90820033/1006/SPORTS/TSSAA+will+anounce+playoff+pairings+on+air
  24. CSS is only doing a limited schedule for this year. Their first game is on 9/11. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20090814/SPORTS07/908140329/-1/PREPSFACTORY/Fewer+football+games+will+be+on+TV+this+fall
