  1. I am a big fan of the jackets and believe they will have another great year. The coaching staff did an outstanding job preparing this team for the game. Unfortunately the execution of the game plan broke down at key points 5 turnovers and a breakdown on special teams make it nearly impossible to win. We also have to give Milan credit. They won because they controlled the ball, did not have special teams breakdowns, and won the 3rd down battle in crucial situations. As Berteir wrote they won the key 5-6 plays that determine the outcome. My Jackets will learn from this experience they will work harder and come back stronger next year. Good luck to Milan! Alcoa is out make the most of your opportunity.
  2. Both of these teams have great speed at the skill positions. Milan is the fastest team we have seen this year so it will be fun to see how the play makers for both teams respond. This could be the game that determines who gets to Cookville. I have a lot of respect for Milan they have proven they are a strong team by beating some tough foes, but so has Fairview. If your team is out of the playoffs and you want to see a great game be at this game. You will not be disappointed.
  3. When Fairview beat MC the radio team for MC stated they had not seen that kind of talent and speed on one team in a long time. He predicted a deep run for the Jackets and I agree with him. The jacket defense has gotten better with the return of Stevenson at defensive end. He has been a beast since he returned. His return has given the DC a lot of options. Lewis county better be prepared the jackets bring blitz packages from all kinds of angles. They will stack the box this week knowing the speed they have in the defensive backfield can shut down any throws Lewis will try. I look for a typical Lewis county vs Fairview game very physical well played but in the end I don't think Lewis county can match the talent the jackets have.
  4. Lewis County will try to control the Jackets offense using a ball control offense. They will hope their running game will chew up clock and keep the Fairview offense on the sidelines. This is easier said than done the jackets have shown they don't need much time to score points. Fairview will have to come ready to play Lewis county has improved since the first game between these two teams but the jackets have gotten better too. The game is at Fairview which gives them one more edge. Good luck to the jackets this Friday.
  5. Fairview has a great deal of speed at the skill positions which I don't think Hickman county can match. However, Coach Rewis will put in a game plan to try to take one thing the jackets do well away. Coach Rewis is a very good coach and will make Hickman County a good team but this year the jackets have to much strength. If you take away the edge they bring in Cavendar to pound the rock. If you load the box they will get the edge and throw the ball all over the field. I look for Fairview to go farther than they ever have in the playoffs.
  6. Wise old man giles I respect the tradition and play of Giles county. I also believe Fairview will continue to be a strong team in the district. I hope they beat Giles next year but if they don't both teams will be strong in their classification. For several years Alcoa lost to Maryville and went on to win the state championship. As we are in different classifications I will close with a Steve Mcqueen line from Bullet: You work your side or the street , we will work ours" BTW: Fairview will lose 2 seniors on defense and I believe 2 on offense. See you next year. I can't wait to visit your stadium I hear it is one of the best in the state.
  7. Jackets should take this one. With many key players coming back next year I do not understand how anyone can predict a win over the jackets next year. Losing Cavendar will hurt them but there are so many talented young players on the team they will have at least one more outstanding year.
  8. Coach Rewis teams always seem to get better as the season progresses I look for a Hickman victory. The concern will be if the team comes out flat after their upset win at Page. If they do East Hickman can steal a win.
  9. Does anyone know the status of the injured Spring Hill player. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
  10. I don't have a dog in this game but I am a fan of Hickman's coach Rewis. He is the coach that came to Fairview and turned the football program around. If the young men of Hickman are willing to put the work in and the staff supports the football program Tommy Rewis will build a winning program for your school. To avoid negative backlash I will also note that LC always plays a physical style of play. They have been good for a long time which is a tribute to the coaches , staff, and community. Good luck to both teams.
  11. As a Fairview fan I have to agree with you. The announcer was a little over the top last night. I am sure the administration will correct this.
  12. I was at both the MC and GC games watching the jackets play. They brought their A+ game to MC but against Giles county bobcats they were a little flat. However, both teams played well unfortunately for the jackets we came up short. Giles County played this game like they had to have it. If we could ask the coach I would wager he would agree this was their best game of the year. BOTH teams are well coached and for the most part executed well. Each team had one big play which led to or was a scoring play. "Fairview did have a long touchdown run called back." I will give credit where it is due Giles County plays a relentless style of play on both sides of the ball. Teams that face them cannot make mistakes mental(personal fouls, fumbles etc) if they want to win. But I will not complain about the jackets, while not as emotionally ready for this game as the MC game they played hard and never backed down. I wish both teams luck in the playoffs. I do have a question: All 3 teams have 1 loss with each team unable to claim victory against the two other teams. Will there be a 3 way championship or is there some other tie breaker I am unaware of?
  13. Page is always tough against Fairview but Fairview has a lot of weapons on offense. Their speed is better than most teams and they know how to score. If the Yellow jackets can stop the PAGE Offense they should win.
  14. Congratulations to Alcoa they are a great team with a great coach. I must also admit I loved watching Goodpasture get drilled. I have watched them run fake punt attempts late in games when they were up 20 points. Knowing they were beaten by 42 points makes me smile.
  15. I agree with your assessment of the game. I listened on the radio and can tell you the radio crew for Milan was getting nervous about the game. Fairview's 4th down play was a big momentum changer for the game. The only issue I had with Fairview were the unforced errors and the inability to get a play called. Being forced to use all 3 time-outs so early had to be frustrating for the coaches. Losing #80 Hunter Branch will be a big loss for the jackets but they have a great nucleus of young players returning. Don't pay attention to gobulldogs there are always fans like him. If Milan loses to Camden he will be the first to claim they were robbed or complain about the coach. As coach Rewis used to say: "You have to understand fans like Gobulldogs they are undefeated 0 wins, 0 losses, 0 ties"
