  1. Not sure who Joe B. is but he probably would not be happy that someone used his name. Funny thing is I was not using any names in original post! Doesn't make any difference now anyway its all history.
  2. I just have to ask this question as I have went over this in my head numerous times with no answer coming to mind. If I am a High school Baseball Coach and I have The best pitcher in the State on my team, one of the top pitchers in the nation! I am in the game that will get me to the State Tournament, which is the ultimate goal of all High School baseball players, and hopefully there coaches. Why would I gamble away this chance by keeping this amazing talent off the mound in a game that is do or die? Here are the only answers I came up with. 1. REST 2. He is injured. 3. He is not there. 4. 5. 6. Ok lets rule out the obvious. Pitched on Monday. 3 Days Rest. Not injured, Came in to pitch in last inning, when we were behind? And yes he was there. I need a little help here????????
  3. 1 question did you attend the games in question?
  4. Seriously, how many Tullahoma players or fans called Farragutt players by name or chanted anything directed to Farragutt players? If you were there you no the answer is 0. Baseball is a mental sport which requires a mindset, weather it is a rule violation or not using direct shouts at players in order to break one mindset is cheep. So I guess you are right, we do thing differently in middle Tennessee, we play the game on the field, not in the bleachers.
  5. If you were not at the game then do not comment, because you have no idea. Umpires normally don't win and loose games, but what happened yesterday did play a roll in the outcome of both games. I wish nothing but good luck to all the teams that have worked so hard to be on this stage, it is just so sad to see it all end like that. If the same crew calls other games then I suspect we will see other post that will follow.
  6. Where in the world did they find these half as* poor examples that call themselves umpires? Sorry but I just have to blow off some steam. When athletic teams reach this level of play the game should not be decided by the umpires. When a ball is hit down the 3rd. base line 18" foul and called fair which scores the run that beats you in a very well played close game it just don't seem right, especially when people from the team you are playing tell you that it was foul and the home plate umpire tells the Field Admin. that he missed the call???????And then there was the ump behind the plate that was so short he could not see over the catcher. Told catcher several times "Think I missed that one". Three straight pitches cross over plate from inside to out, catcher asked ump what was wrong with those umpire replies those were balls, after batter walks umpire tells catcher sorry I might have missed those?????????? What the heck.....This is not little league, and even they have 4 umpires when you reach the State tournament, just saying, may not want 4 if they are like this. Anybody else had this crap in your games?
  7. 7 teams? Come on now if you are going to make a prediction at least get the number right.
  8. Pitching did not loose this game. You have to hit to win and Tullahoma left the Bats in the locker room. Tullahoma's #3 would be a 1 or 2 on most teams. Brown gave up a bunt single a blooper over 2nd. and a grounder to short that was beat out. The home run was on a 3-2 count and the pitch was low and outside. Batter just did a good job making contact and pulled the outside pitch over the right field wall. So it did not matter who pitched when they only got 1 hit.
  9. Here we go!!! Sheffield vs. Stone What do you think?
  10. Sheffield (6-1) was simply masterful, facing only 24 batters in seven innings. He did walk two, which kept him from a perfect game, and the Wildcats did commit one error. Still, 64 of his 98 pitches were strikes and he threw a strike on the first pitch to 18 of those 24 batters. He lowered his season earned run average to 1.16. Tullahoma’s offense gave Sheffield all the runs he needed with one in the second inning, then added two in the third and one more in the fourth. Franklin County’s starting pitcher committed a balk with the bases loaded and two outs in the second inning, bringing home the Wildcats’ first run. Dalton Davis and Sheffield walked to open the third inning against a new Rebel pitcher, and Riley Darden came in to run for Sheffield. Davis scored on a passed ball and Darden scored on a Rebel error that allowed Van Williams to reach base and eventually score Tullahoma’s fourth run. The Wildcats (23-4, 7-0) and the Rebels (13-9, 2-5) will square off again Wednesday night at Tomahawk Field in Winchester, with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. Listen live on the Tullahoma Sports Network – 105.1 FM, Tullahomaradio.com,
  11. Warren Co. Beat 2 Tullahoma Soph. pitchers, Tullahoma could have blew them out if they had pitched there No. 3,4, or 5 pitcher.
  12. A team with all the talent on paper looks like crap on the court. No leadeship, selfishness, poor attitudes. They shoot uncontroled shots, They dont follow shots or post up for rebounds, They lag back on defense forcing 2 or 3 on 5. I cant stand to watch a team with so much talent get beatup like this anymore. Something has to change now.
  13. I telling you! I dont usually complane about Refs I no they are going to miss some calls, but come on, you have to have watched this game before you can comment on this thread! This was a lot more than home cooking it was a 5 coarse meal with desert.
  14. Last night Tullahoma traveled over to Warren Co. for a non District game with the Pioneers. The Officials were pathedic. They had no control of the game. There were several intentional personal fouls that were overlooked, several physical altercations, passes that hit the ground that were called complete, a clock that on many occiasions late in the game, did not move, a first down measurement that was clearly 6 inches short, and was still call a 1st. down, It was obvious. Tullahoma was able win the game but it was ugly. Football is like a boxing match 11 vs. 11 and the officials must maintain control from the begining. Anyone traveling to W.C. to play needs to be prepaired to get screewed.
  15. Well said irecnso. FC did you know we beat you with two of our staring OL out. Our cen300ter tore up his knee and is out for the year and we also lost a 300lb + linemen. I guess if they would have played we would have doubled our score?
  16. Well all you Franklin Co. posters where are you now? 8 years in a row feels pretty good.
  17. The game will be played @ Tullahoma.Better get here early it will be standing room only. Through out all the stats in this one, its allways a battle. Coffee is looking to get a win and bring the pot back to Manchester. T-Town is just to fast and will keep the pot again. Big night for Trey Burks! 42-14 Wildcats.
  18. First of all Let me say this, The move to replace John Greenwood and Rick Thronebery was long time coming. They were the worst sports radio guys In history. Rick could not even get his own name right. Now as for this years team, they are working super hard, no one has quit that cant be replaced. The Cats did lose solid Offensive Lineman Jr. Timothy Lemons for the year to a shoulder injury but other that that we are healthy. The Cats have several talented skill players and if the offensive line grows up, they will be in the District 8AAA hunt in the end.
  19. I agree 100%. It is ashame anyone has to lose a game like that. Great pitchers dual with some super defensive plays. Walker Valley is also a class act and we wish you the best of luck in the State Tournament. On a side note, Walker Valley may have the best game announcer I have ever heard. I have to know where did that guy come from. He sounds like a professional D.J. Almost so good it does'nt seem real.
  20. Yes you are right I did forget about the intentional walks so take those away and you still have 9 walks. Riverdale also had an intenional walk so that = 1 walk for them. I know the umps missed calls both ways but the plate umpire was in another world and it was obvious. Even with that you are also right that it was a great game. Thanks for the good luck. We will take care of business tomorrow.
  21. Yes you are right "let the players decide the outcome on the field" Cant do that if the outcome is blured by bad calls. Yes the umpire does have a better view, but when the catcher is setup in the middle of the plate knee high on a 3-0 count and the ball hits the mit without any movement is that a strike or not? That is my point.Yes they have worked hard to get to this point, and that is why im so pissed off that their hard work is placed in the hands of a blind umpire................
  22. That is not true. Our pitchers throw strikes and they have very good control. Usually you can figure out what the ump is giving on the plate. Last night it was all over the place never the same not fair to pitchers who were working their tails off trying to find the right location. And the answer to the question is YES (I do think a plate ump can take a pitcher out of their game)
  23. Two great teams battled last night in Tullahoma for 10 innings. And 1 great team won. These are the facts. Now, It is really hard to explain how Tullahoma has 11 walks and Riverdale only 2? That is to one sided. Tullahoma has great pitching, and stats to prove it. This is not taking anything away from the Riverdale team, They played a great game. When a pitcher cant figure out where to throw a pitch for a strike, It does'nt matter who is pitching, its a no win. All of our pitchers had to go high in the count in batters because of poor calls. Several pitches were right down the middle belt high and called balls and then 1 pitch later it was a strike? I am so proud of our players because they battled even through all of the bad calls and had chances to win it. The WIldcats will put this behind them and head to East Tennesssee to face Walker Valley Friday night. STATE BOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. His Dad is a coach. Besides this thread was started to talk about a great baseball series between 2 championship caliber teams.I dont understand how we got on this subject. The fact is Tullahoma swept a good Columbia team with 2 of the best pitchers in the state.
