  1. We can all have opinions. And on any given night anyone can win. But I think most would agree that if played in '13 Fulton would be the favorite but that don't guarantee a win. And yes each of the last four years Alcoa has been a big favorite in most opinion and that showed true on scoreboard. Those players mentioned above are solid w/ exception of Young he's a stud with a motor (scary combo). Fulton has a few players too I think. Or well at least some of the colleges think anyways. Last year Alcoa was SR heavy and Fulton played mostly Soph & Jr's and the older boys won out as they often do but this year role will be kind of reversed but unfortunately I don't guess we will see how it would play out... Good luck to both teams this season!
  2. Different maturation I highly agree. I understand studies but ask most any coach they'll tell you that in MOST cases AGE beats SIZE (if its apples to apples)... In areas that still play Pop Warner coaches will tell you they load up on the "older/lighter" players b/c thats how you win. If your not familar with that rule its where "smaller kids" are allowed to play in "younger" age divisions b/c there small (the division you play is weight based and not age based) and the team with the most older/lighters typically win.... A 12 year old weighing 110lbs (or less) is allowed to play with 10 year olds that weigh up to 140lbs. EVERY coach I've ever spoken with says he'll take the 110lbs 12 y/o over the 140lbs 10y/o and win 100 out of 100 times.
  3. Timing is always "everything" I would think extending the season one week wouldn't hurt anyone or mix it in during the season. Some of the better Knoxville teams (typically) extend their season to play in the big Rocky Top tournament... Its probably wishful thinking anyways but maybe one of these years with this close distance some people can put their heads together and see it would only help (the better teams) in both leagues to play one another. Who knows build into each "league" schedule a Knox Co / Blount Co game (1st place v 1st, etc) all that would take is two schedule assignors getting together.
  4. No one said BC football is suffering b/c there youth weight limits but its unfair to the bigger kids that there forced to play against older guys. Guys who actually coach know for certain that a small 12 year old will wear out a big 10 year old (95% of the time); now if you take a terrible 12 year old and put him up against a really good 10 year old the 10 may have a chance but when its apple to apples age wins over size ALL day long....... IMO its ludacris that good teams 20 min apart aren't allowed to play each other due to some petty rules. I think it'd help both areas to intertwine some but hey what do I know..
  5. Knox has a skill player max weight which is what 90% of modern day youth football america has... The only age in Knox that has NO weight limit is the 13/14 (8th Grade) division its totally unlimited as should be the case. The better teams/programs need to be playing one another regardless of county it only helps make everyone better. Winning 38-0 helps NO one!
  6. They still have weight limits in Blount Co ? Thats unfortunate! Does the powers that be know that its 2012 and kids are bigger these days. IMHO weight is MOST overrated thing in youth football. Long as ages match up its a level playing field... Its a shame that neighboring counties can't play one another due to a foolish rule.
  7. I'm not saying combine 4 schools but you have schools in the inner city that are located less than 5 miles from one another with small enrollments you could combine AE & Fulton for example and still have less than (or equal too) enrollment of a Maryville.... It'll never happen so no need to discuss but just saying too many schools in Knox Co (13 public and 4 private that play football) WAY too many IMHO.
  8. I'm sure some Knox Co youth teams would welcome that with open arms. Both counties (Knox & Blount) have some solid youth teams its a shame that they're so close and rarely (if ever) cross over and play - competition breeds better competition. I'm sure the competitive coaches would love to lessen the cupcakes (on schedule) and play better teams from bordering county... From what I can tell in Knoxville the ages that Blount Co could play with are 8U, 10U & 12U and to beof knowledge (of course season has yet to play out) but best teams in those ages in Knox Co are 8U Fulton (hands down no one else in Knox within 30 of this team at this age); 10U either Central or Fulton (9 year 2011 championship game) and 12U Catholic (probably two TD's) better than other Knox Co teams at this age... I'm quite sure any of these mentioned teams would love to play some of Blount Co bests.... What happens to the talent in Knoxville when it gets to HS is it gets too saturated (typical problem in all Metro areas)!!!
  9. No way they go 8-2 nor 7-3 for that matter - they would have to upset too many teams for that to happen. With there schedule 6-4 is a HUGE success I predict 5-5 but would like to see them win more but also I am realistic. They have had some pretty good teams of late and I think 6-4 is the best regular season they have had in years and the schedule is more tough than ever. Potential lossses are Maryville, Bearden, Farragut, Catholic along with Fulton, Sullivan South & William Blount very capable of knocking off West. Who are all these D1 Prospects mentioned in these post - did West get in alot of transfers??
  10. Dennis Rogan (Fulton) started as Soph @ UT (played alot as true FRESHMAN)
  11. Catholic only recently got good? Where have u been? 59-1 last 60 regular season games (that would be 6 years) not two. Pemberton was like 78-11 over last 7-8 years at Catholic. AE always is a contender as is Anderson County who was all in Fulton's region. Catholic scrimmages Halls, Powell & West over last few and each time beat like a DRUM. Gibbs has not been in Fulton's region until this upcoming season. With exception of Maryville that 4-A region has not won anything, one team don't make a region.
  12. I can't see Central winning the region. Nothing against them but with Clinton, Oak Ridge, Campbell Co. and others in there I see the Bobcats continue to struggle. I'd pick Clinton as the favorite not sure who follows behind them.
  13. The trash talk is all in good fun! I don't think it is a competition reason why Fulton don't play Central. I mean Fulton in the past has played Alcoa, Oak Ridge, Morristown East, Catholic all programs that are of late more competitive than Central. I know this year Fulton is playing West which over the last few years has been better than Central so I truly don't think it is a competition reason why Fulton and Central don't play.
  14. Central Super Midgets didn't even make playoffs in NFC division which is comparable to NAIA; Fulton Super Midgets finished runner-up in XFL division which is comparable to SEC. If u think the score couldn't have been worse then keep on dreaming; I was a coach on the team I know how we treated the game, wew told starters "don't be shocked if u only play 2-3 snaps" we did let a former Bobcat or two play quite a bit to play against former teammates. From what I understand prior to Josh taking over Super Midget program at Fulton it struggled; so your probably right on them not winning much games but I know since he has taken over we have been in championship year after year after year (I wasn't there all them years but I was a couple I just listen to few of the coaches talk about previous seasons). I wish I could still coach I'm gonna miss it; hopefully one day I'll be able too again. Good luck to the Bobcats hope they do well!
  15. We run spead w/ NO TE boy shows exactly what u know. The kid played WR from day one; he got more involved in the offense as the year went on b/c he was so far beyond on catching, route running, etc. Once he got more self confidence he did great at WR not TE! Last year's "Bowl" game thay we played Central w/ 8 min running clock (game lasted like 40 minutes max). We had 3/4 TD's called back in that short of span and we played not all but mostly reserves the whole game due to "Bowl" game and the agreement was to play mostly reserves b/c Central was a NFC team that didnt make playoffs and we were XFL team that did, we didn't treat that like a real game. I wasn't even counting that as a win (it didn't even go on our record). I was talking about our '07 XFL league game where we beat Central Super Midgets 48-14 at CHS; in '06 we beat Central Super Midgets in XFL Playoffs 32-0. Central's Youth program isn't close to Fulton's in competition, mostly all Central teams play in LOWER division all but one of Fulton's plays XFL and still wins fair share of titles. With exception of two ages last year 10&12 (out of 7 age divisions) Fulton Youth had FAR better teams, no way u can rightfully argue that. As far as having "hands" full w/ this year's Central Super Midgets that's great we love the competition and always welcome it; that's why we travel like we do so our kids can face the best. Unfortunately I won't be coaching this year but I'm sure Josh and company will come up with a good team, he always does.
  16. Facts aren't quite straight Jack! Actually there no-where near accurate. Anyway makes for a good forum I guess. Was the player recruited to the Super Midget team YES SIR but HE WAS not recruited to Fulton High. For the kids sake good thing he played w/ us b/c instead of playing offensive tackle for Central we turned him into the best WR in the Super Midgets league. Someone's going to be getting a quality player. Good luck to the HS Bobcats thisd year maybe they'll have a winning season for the first time in a while. Oh and let me add not exactly sure why the high schools don't play but I will say Fulton Super Midgets has beaten Central Super Midgets like a drum the last 3-4 years.
  17. I'd like to know what "world" was promised thru the Super Midgets Coach. As I was one of the assistants the last two years, I never remember anything being promised to anyone except Coach's quote to each parent he talks too "I'll get your son ready for high school ball regardless where he is going to high school". Our Super Midget team has past players playing all over the city in high school and doing quite well I may add. Our Super Midgets plays at a MUCH higher level than others in Knox Co, NO daddy ball like other Super Midget programs. The traveling, challenging schedule and structured practices (no daddy ball) we play is what makes kids want to come play for us; it has nothing to do with "world" promises as u say blindly. Last year we had past Super Midgets players at following schools starting (AE, Bearden, Catholic, Fulton, Halls, Powell & West) I may have left one or two out. So get your facts striaght before u post things that AREN'T true.
