  1. Chris did practice and didn't show any signs of injury. The bad news is that Corey Hall's right foot is in a boot. Looks like high ankle sprain (or worse). He definitely won't play Friday.
  2. I have to back Batman. He calls it straight-up. It helps that Batman played football and knows quite a bit about the game.. Roll tribe !! I hope we can scrimmage today. The weather looks rough..
  3. Most of the guys worked on their own. They had some former players help coach. It's great to see the players in the 2nd dead week out running sprints at the stadium steps on their own. The coaches aren't allowed to participate in any drills. I think that's why you didn't see South in the 7 on 7 because they didn't have any volunteers to help coach. With DB's great tradition there was not a lack of quality volunteer coaches. I know my favorite player was out last week and this week running the sprints and steps with the skill players. WOW!! I love DB football. I played football at a Sullivan co. school and it makes me appreciate the facilities, coaches and support DB receives from the community...
  4. I agree with Batmandb. We will have a pretty good team this year. Last year we had 1 returning offensive lineman, so lack of experience did hurt. This year we return 2 starters but have a talented bunch competing for the other slots. The defense will be solid with a quick front line ,lb's and db's. Stelle , Kay and Brewster are solid as db's. The question mark with be on offense. Can we throw the ball effectively to keep teams from stacking the box?? That's what hurt us last year when teams started putting 7 in the box to stop Chris. We must pass the ball downfield better !! ROLL TRIBE !!!
  5. i would like to say to btaylor mom: you and your husband are a class act and best i remember of bobby at kbc he was also. i have a son starting for db and a nephew that starts for south. so, i'm excited for this game and hope both play a great game. as for this years db team, they will surprise. the comraderie is better and most players are already bustin' their butts. if you remember this time last year were worried about the experience of the '08 squad (only 1 returning lineman). i'm ready to play!!! can anyone save me a seat at the south game??
  6. c. fuller ( left guard)will be back monday. he has a respiratory illness and was out school friday. looking forward to some hitting on tuesday.
  7. i believe we still have 2 missing in soccer.(j. michael & another player) baseball kids came out yesterday. back to the slaughter kid, he has some talent and will probably see some playing time. (injuries etc) defense is looking good at this point but a lot of new faces on offense. especially on the line. the center is undersized (he's a soph.) but playing decent. we certainly will miss r. church this fall.
  8. roop has looked good but most of the skill players are still out. some freshmen have impressed : slaughter at running back & hayworth (moved from tight end to tackle). . r. clark has looked good at receiver . i don't believe we will find out much this spring other than developing some of the younger kids. i remember the halls scrimmage last spring and they stuck it to us pretty good. but we were without the main skill players last spring.
  9. scrimmage at halls is next friday. back to some of the practice notes. the o-line might be better than expected with some players coming out for football after sitting out a year. i know of 2 (seniors to be) that will contribute if not start by fall. i know my son is working his tail off to have a good senior year. and yes, several are still in track and 1 or 2 in soccer. the numbers at spring practice is down to around 60. a few injured also.. looking forward to the coaching staff working their magic again.
  10. it's still too early to tell but we've got some potential. we've got some speed and will need help from underclassmen. can't wait till the knox halls scrimmage..
