  2. I don't know the answer to this---how much time are they "wasting" with block classes that last hour and half. I don't think the attention span of teenagers will last that long. I remember the hour and half classes in college and the tendancy to check out after an hour. If your argument is that they have 20 minutes more per day not "wasted" by changing classes, I would just bet that at least 20 minutes is lost in classes that are too long. Just a thought.
  3. Wrong-----my kids schedule this year----History(8-9), Math (9-10), Spanish (10-11), Lunch/Study Hall(11-12), Art/Music/PE/Computer-1 per quarter (12-1), Science (1-2), English (2-3)......practice after school. And will be much the same next year. Only practice time is before or after school. My main argument that since there is no time during school to practice, we are being penalized by TSSAA by not being able to practice after school until last week of October. I guess if we were not trying so hard to get an education, we would be better off in athletics??? I do remember as well when last period was scheduled for basketball and we would practice until coach got tired. That was only 1 hour or our day, and we still had 4-5 classes---not 25% gone as it is in block scheduling. As much as I love athletics, the class room should come first.
  4. A Break....seriously???? 25% of their time away from school work? I do not think any student should be allowed in gym during the fall (unless it is on their own) before practice is slated to start on October 26th, unless schools that actually stress learning during school hours are allowed to practice after school during that time. To make schools that have their kids in 7 classes during the day (and not 3 as is done in block scheduling) not be able to have any time before or after school until 3 weeks before season starts is ludicrous.
  5. Somebody needs to check the water.....it's catching !!!!!
  6. Maybe he has been talking to some of the Clarkrange girls recruits, er sorry transfers, about how good it feels to win a state championship /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  7. Congratulations to EVERY public school in the State of Tennessee that only has one school in it's town. YOU are the STATE CHAMPIONS of public schools in your Town. To those that have more than one public school in your town: Congratulations, you are the STATE CHAMPIONS of public schools on your block. Ridiculous, but makes as much sense as the one that started this thread.

    Next Year

    What is this topic about?????
  9. Evidently so-----hence, the multiplier. Seemed fair when schools of 350 students were playing schools of 1150 in basketball and football. Just have a hard time understanding why it is such a good idea in team sports but then an awful idea in individual sports /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  10. I would suggest one other league (great post by the way): The " I don't won't to work hard, sacrifice anything, but want a trophy and will whine if anyone else gets it" league
  11. They pretty much do now-----it is called Magnet Schools.
  12. Since it has been stated on other threads that it seems that only private schools are the ones partcipating, it should not be a problem for those parents to pay /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  13. Man, what a start to the day. I just "got up" and read this after my maid was making so much noise on the 4th floor of my home. Guess she was having trouble getting the kids uniforms on this morning. Between this post (that is a little condescending to us private school people), and my Lexus being dirty, it does not seem like it is going to be a good day. Now all I need is for there to be a line at Starbucks and my favorite stair stepper to be in use at the gym for it to be a perfect day. (By the way, dude---your grammar and spelling is horrible. I have been at work since 6:00, my 7 year old Malibu started fine, and my kids are at private school, my spouse is at work---and you are beating a dead horse to death)
  14. Are you using the Middle School auxillary gym again? If so, I will stay home and play in my back yard. At least I can shoot a 3 pointer from the side and not worry about running into a steel pole?
  15. I agree. As long as some are getting beat, there will always be a reason to find blame with the ones winning. If privates were not here, it would be posts against magnets, etc.....
