  1. Dyersburg @ Covington Obion @ Crockett Gibson @ Ripley Haywood Bye Westview @ Milan Ok 13AA fans make your picks, looks like with the exception of Haywood having a bye its all district play. I will take Dburg, Crockett, Ripley, and Milan. Lets see if my luck is ready for Vega$.
  2. If the coaching staff and team study the game film for both games extremely hard they will see the benifits down the road from playing two tough teams early. Although the Trojans lost, with the new playoff system strength of schedule could come into play including non distict games.
  3. CC runs a good program and the team usually holds up pretty good down the stretch and having a JV and freshman team helps it a lot, they can pull guys off those teams down the stretch.
  4. Well thats where your wrong I'm not trying to start an argument, and I obviously didn't get my point across in such a short statement, so let me try it this way. As far as my true fan statement, well I'm a diehard St. Louis Rams fan and each and every year and every game I predict them to win. Now with that said I don't think it was stupid for you to make a prediction on the HBT game I don't think it would be stupid to make one on this game. One thing that brought that statement up is in a earlier post after the HBT game you felt that Gibson would beat Ripley handily and I hope one Ripley win didn't change your mind. Predictions is a part of the fun for all of us fans and we all have our reason or opinion as to why we feel the way we do about our picks.
  5. That's right GC keep the faith. I also think you should say GC will if you are a true fan.
  6. It's very much possible the coach didn't have anything to do with the schedule depending on when he arrived, most schedules if not all were complete around min jan. to early feb.
  7. Every player should run regardless of who plays and killem just doesn't know any better. As far as 2n O and 2nd D not getting in that a decision the coaching staff will have to live with, I think any time you get the score gets a spread big enough to insert other players they should get out there and get that experience, instead of waiting till all of the sr.'s graduate and you have no choice but play them, thats if they even come out next season. I don't have a dog in the hunt and I've only seen LC play once, I may be wrong for saying it but sounds like a receipe for disaster not playing the young guys when you can.
  8. Well it sound as if each team still needs work.
  9. I don't know much about the teams of Blake Adams time but I heard good things abouth them, however this current team I have watched and I think have great potential and need to continue to improve each week. As far as the the consistancy issue I think they are consistant, the defense is consistantly good. Week 0 NS ran 47 plays and 36 went for negative yards. NS scored 26pts in just under 6mins against Ripley, they made good on the few plays that went for positive yards and capitalized on Ripley mistakes. Ripley cut down on some of their mistakes last night but I think they still need to work on the receivers this week and not fumble the ball, they did better with the fumbles last night but they can still use a little work. 1st look scrimmages are what they are 1st looks and not enough time to show a lot of things which works out good for every team. Ripley has a RB that didn't play at the DC jamboree but has played since. This adds another weapon to play beside the RB I'm sure that you do remember from the jamboree. I asked you in an earlier post about the QB that you have which has a FB build, if GC O line doesn't provide him better protection than what they did at the jamboree he may have a long night. Like I said earlier 1st looks are just that, but in each of Ripleys game the defense has put plenty of pressure on the QB and also has several sacks for a loss. In a nut shell the defense and running game is there, but the passing game need some more work and maybe this week it will show up and that will help keep opponents D honest. My pick Ripley by what margin I have no idea.
  10. With this new playoff system I don't think so its a lil more complex. 2 more wins would only make them 4-0 so i wouldn't think they would make the playoffs with just 4 wins although they may doulble those wins, I just think with this complicated playoff setup a team in 3A with fewer wins than a 4A team can get in first.
  11. Now what do you say? I didn't think it would be a big point spread, and I also felt... ahh you know the rest. It was a really good game, Munford had more weapons, just like you said 1ftbldad. Covington moved the ball fairly good, but shot themselves in the foot every time they could. Covington had its chances on a blocked punt, the ball was on the ground and no Munford player with in 20 yds, Covington could not pick the ball up and just fell on it. It was a for sure TD. That being said, I think Munford could have run the fade any time they wanted to. CB's from Covington played better this week, but they are just too short. I may be wrong but I look for Munford to win some games this year, at least I hope they are that good and it's not that we are that bad. LOL! By the way congradulations on the Ripley win tonight. Although I picked Munford as the better team and I also believe they can win more games, but thats only if they can cut down on the mistakes they make and control the ball better. Some of the games they have coming up their opponents will be able to capitalize on those mistakes. Tigertime did you make the game and if so did Covington try to open up a passing game. As far as my we got the W but their is still plenty of work to be done in areas I previously mentioned.
  12. Now what do you say? I didn't think it would be a big point spread, and I also felt... ahh you know the rest. Congrats Cougars
  13. Its partialy my fault you forgot because I had to edit after you made your initial picks and add milan but its all good.
  14. I think this game will be decided by a 2pt conversion or a field with munford to win.
  15. Visionaire you enjoy your game and we'll talk about the game that neither one of us will be able to attend but think we know who will win.
  16. Visionaire I knew you would be sticking by your decision, and I hope your Trojans do well, but like you said it could be a long game. I will be in Selmer watching my BIG PURPLE TIGERS take on Mcnairy Central and hopely we can have a better outcome than this past week. 1ftbldad, What is the expatations for Ripley this years? At the Jamboree they did not look like the Ripley Teams that I remember, somewhat smaller players than I remember in the past. The expectations aren't very high with the team strugling with a new system and just starting to get the feel for a new coaching staff. The talent is there we just need to improve on a few more things like receivers dropping good passes. As for the players being smaller than what you remember I would like to see those guys because they must have been beast. Ripley has some pretty big kids I know of four off the top of my head at least 6'2" and with lightest of the four being 240lbs and two of them being 6'3'/6'4". You might be like me and like to sit up high to get a better view, but if you get on the field next to these kids they may look bigger to you.
  17. Ok 13AA fans treefitty74 went 7-1 last week lets see how everyone does this week, make your picks. Munford at Covington Crockett at Bolivar Dyersburg bye Gibson bye Haywood at Liberty Westview at Mckenzie Obion At Byhalia Ripley at Mcnairy Central Milan @ Huntingdon I will take Munford, Crockett, Liberty, Westview, Obion, Milan, and Ripley.
  18. Visionaire I knew you would be sticking by your decision, and I hope your Trojans do well, but like you said it could be a long game. I will be in Selmer watching my BIG PURPLE TIGERS take on Mcnairy Central and hopely we can have a better outcome than this past week.
  19. Visionaire is a Millington Fan. I don't have any inside info I just feel that the Cougars will have a better showing than people expect. I also think its early in the season and the chargers won't be making any major changes in the offense and sticking with the run game which I think Munford will be able to handle. If the chargers come out with a passing game, which I doubt, then I would view it different.
  20. Ok, I don't have a dog in the hunt, and I don't even know anything about the falcons in any way shape or form. Their is a lesson that I believe each and everyone of us were taught, and that is your only as strong as your weakes link. If the 2nd team has points scored on them then every player should run sprints, I'm the 2nd team will have to run not only if but when the 1st team has points scored on them. I hope no injuries come upon any player but if so what will happen when 2nd team has to go in without any reps in practice or any game time? One last point, I know it had to be a bad statement in a earlier post, but any teams that only has water for the 1st team or varsity will be drinking from a dry well real fast.
  21. I just wish I could be their and sit next to visionaire in the stand to see if he slowly change his opinion, but know he'll be with the trojans.
  22. I also like their backs the big #30 and the short guy I think #22 he is fast and if he turns the corner lookout.
  23. Dude what is up with the you hating on the Tomcats so much. Everytime there is something dealing with haywood you are just bashing them if they are not just bashing people 40-0. I mean what to you have against haywood seriously. I'm I have seen you start of plenty Ripley threads talking about them, so want you go worry about how your great new coach with his light up the score board offense is going to score more than one touchdown!! Oh wait didn't Ripley beat Northside the last two years with the old coach you used to bash on here. And oh by the way that old coach didn't do to bad last friday either even though it was just frayser but a win is better than getting beat by 30 any day in my book. Back to Haywood They were up 20-6 at halftime dominating from what I was told and in the second half They let JCM return a punt to get back in the game and JCM kicked like a thirty yard field goal to beat them. They also almost had 400 yds of offense. They are a good football team just got to get a few things ironed out is what it sounds like to me. The game friday will be alot closer than most think, Liberty is a good football team with plenty of athletes and so does haywood they will be ready just wait and see. Whats up is I have nothing against Haywood I'm just calling it like I see it and that Haywood will not be the powerhouse that so many people expect them to be. I guess you missed or over looked my post where I stated that Haywood has plenty of talent but something is wrong and I just couldn't figure it out or you may only notice the post where you think I'm bashing Haywood. I think that any team that hang in with them through the 2nd quarter and finish strong can come away with a W which is what matters at the end of the game and not how big of a margin or what mistake came about for them to get it or certain starters didn't play thats all apart of the game. You are correct about beating NS with the old coach and loosing to them with the new coach not to take anything away from NS new coaching staff and the improvements they've made, but I bet my bottom dollar that you or no one else outside of Ripley fans picked them to win or be anywhere near a powerhouse... I also quess you missed my post where I stated that Ripleys receivers need a lot of work and not anywhere close to where they need to be, and I think thats what they need to win games. As far as the new coach goes I'm still happy we have him for all the reasons I stated in earlier post. GO BIG PURPLE...
  24. I haven't had a chance to see Bolivar this year but remember reading a post about them operating under a new coaching staff this year and had made some improvements, but they will need a lot of improvement to overcome Crockett.
