Id like to see what regions could look like if we divided all 150 Division 1 teams evenly into 75 teams in AAA and 75 teams in A-AA. Every other sport got this type of distribution by the TSSAA last time they classified except wrestling. Our distribution was based on basketball numbers.

Maryville High School is hosting an individual varsity tournament next season on Saturday January 6th, 2018 and we are looking to add some more teams. Tournament format will be a 16-man bracket with 4 pools of 4 and the top two wrestlers in each pool advancing to place 1st-8th. The tournament will be ran on TrackWrestling with statistics included. We will allow teams to bring non-scoring extras to fill brackets to capacity. We currently have close to 60 wrestlers registered. I have extended the registration until friday evening in hopes of adding more wrestlers. Currently we have from wrestlers raning from 60lb 6th grader to 202lb 11th grader and everything in between. Its not too late to register. We are gonna run 4 mats so it should be an fast pace day.

Blake Ridenour Former Tennessee State champion from Maryville High School just advanced to the semi finals of the NCAA div II wrestling championships and secured his All American honors. Its not too late to join in. Cody hopes to add some more driven guys looking to get better this spring. I read this article this morning about NCAA National Champion David Taylor of Penn State. He is the 2012 Hodge Trophy winner - essentially the Heisman of Wrestling. Check out the sacrifices he and his family made to get better long before he made it to Penn State. "David has been relentless about improving and seeking out the best coaching and competition ever since. Taylor and his dad would frequently drive an hour and a half one direction a couple times a week after school and on weekends for club practices or for extra weight-training sessions. The Taylor family, including sister Alex, 19, made all kinds of trips around the country for David’s tournaments.
