  1. Is SP keeping Polk on the schedule? I had heard they were going to play again but that might have been rumor.
  2. I agree with you, my point is there should not be a multiplier for OZ schools. Heck, I'm not even a fan of the multiplier for D-1 privates. Just my opinion.
  3. The problem with giving a multiplier to open-zoned schools is, where do you draw the line. I attended the Polk County School system for all 12 years of school, and I didn't know that we will accept non-resident tuition students until I looked it up today on the system's website. I can't honestly think of one case of this being used. So do you apply the multiplier to school systems that might have this on the books but it is seldom or never used? And just for the record Polk County would be 5A in the current system if the 1.8 multiplier is applied.
  4. I see your point point about Loudon. As for Howard/Tyner I base that on the head to head match-up and Tyner's non-district schedule. As for Alcoa, after watching the Goodpasture game I've become a believer. They truly are the best in the state.
  5. Can't really argue with this one too much, but I'd swap Tyner and Howard. As for Polk County being behind Loudon I'll take the CAK and Alcoa fan's word for it, but I would have loved to have seen these two teams meet this year.
  6. I wish we could get there with you, but with Alcoa and CAK in the same quad it will be really tough to do. Maybe one of these years.
  7. Congrats to the Pirates on bringing home the Gold Ball. My prayers go out to the player from Jo Byrns. Already looking forward to next seasons Polk-South Pitt matchup.
  8. Great game by both teams. Hope CAK finally beats Alcoa next week. Good luck Warriors.
  9. To all Veterans thank you for all of your service and all the sacrifices you have made to keep our country free. May God bless you, your families, and the USA.
  10. I'm not going to get into the back and forth on here mostly because I've got some redneck tendencies and because I believe everything said was just in good fun. As for the game, it will be rough going for Polk. To quote Coach Davis, “Last year they were 10-2; they only lost to Alcoa in the playoffs and regular season. This year they are 10-1. Their only loss is to Alcoa. I can’t speak for out in West Tennessee but they are probably the best 3A team besides Alcoa and they scored 33 on Alcoa." He went on to say that in his 11 years of coaching this was by far the most sophisticated offense he had seen. I wish the best of luck to Polk and I hope they can pull this one out. If that doesn't happen then I hope that CAK will get over the hump and make it to Cookeville. Hope all the Polk fans traveling to Knoxville have a safe trip there and back home again.
  11. SgtEagleFort....Colonel Mustard called...He said get a Clue. Honestley how can you say the things you do with such conviction and it be so insane. Do you honestly believe that Polk is Alcoa's equal in ability? If so you really need to watch some more of their games on ihigh. They are a beast and CAK hung with them. That tells me all I need to know about the Warriors. As far as Polk fans supporting what you say, I'll give you my reasons for not as I can only speak for myself. First I love my alma mater, Coach Davis, and the football program he re-built. However, I reside in a place called reality and personally do not think we are the best team in 3A. I believe we can compete against most teams, but Alcoa and CAK are on a different rung of the ladder than us. Friday night will be our first test against the elite of our own division and I hope we play well and win the game, but they could also torch us if we are not careful.
  12. How dare you smear the pristine reputation of one of our communities living legends. This man is Rocky Balboa, General George Patton, and Emmitt Smith all rolled into one. Every where he goes he is mobbed by fans ,from all over the world, to hear his stories. I have provided a few of these stories for the enjoyment and inspiration of you Alcoa fans.
  13. After seeing swords, machine guns, and a flame thower it has occured to me that we may in fact be the Meg in this group. http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/griffin-family-demands/17wipiszq?q=Super%20Griffins#27:36
  14. I personally would not take the inflatable run through as "In your Face" and I don't believe the other Polk fans will either. Every school needs their own personal touch on their pregame. I also hope that the new tradition the Warriors have started will continue for years to come. It really sounds awesome and is a true testament to the type of young men and women that attend that school and of their parents.
  15. This matchup worries me. FootballDad posted yesterday about CAK's ability to play from behind. They have the experience and the offense to score quickly if they are down late in the game. Polk on the other hand hasn't had to play catchup this season and our offense really isn't suited to having to score quickly when the clock is running down. I believe both groups of young men will play their hearts out Friday night. This game in my opinion will come down to whether or not Polk can go punch for puch with CAK's offense. CAK will score alot of points, that is just the nature of the style of offense they play. In an unrelated issue I was on CAK's school website and was very impressed with the school's requirments for enrollment and the school's mission. My hat's off to you fine people in Knoxville and I hope to get the chance to meet some of you Friday. Go Polk!!!!!
  16. Honestly other than their loss I don't think they have been behind in any of their games. Tyner by far was the closest game and the only game of the season, that Polk won, where the outcome was in doubt in the 4th quarter.
  17. He is not an SEC caliber QB but in my opinion he could contribute on defense or special teams. As good as he is at football though he is that much better at baseball and TN got them a good one.
  18. I'm going with Copper Basin in this one. Good luck to the boys on the east side.
  19. Don't drink hot chocolate but you can buy me some of that nanner pudding CAK sells. CAK fans how big are your visitor bleachers and do you have to pay to park? I've been asked that twice today and you know how much us Polk fans hate to pay for parking, so I figured I'd ask.
  20. You are without a doubt an idiot. Being confident is one thing being cocky is just stupid. We have nothing to be cocky about and Derick Davis would be the first to tell you that. I want the team to win as much as anybody, but at least I'm realistic enough to know that this is THE toughest team that our team has faced. I wish the men from both teams good luck, good sportsmanship, and no injuries. As for 1979, my point was Polk County has not been out of the 2nd round since. In fact last year was the first time to the 2nd round since my senior year. So just what makes you think we have every reason to be cocky? Go Polk
  21. Well we are led by #12 Jared Allen. He is an excellent running QB and an above average passer when given time. Obviously, we don't throw the ball much and prefer to chew up the clock. Also other players on offense to look for are #22 Tyler Lee who is very fast and smart with the football and #39 Derrick Saxe who is a good power back, very hard to take him down. Our line is also very solid and are very good at opening up holes for our backs to run through. Defensivly our base set is still the 4-4 but we will show multiple looks when the situation calls for it. I'm doubtful that we see much of the 4-4 this week. The player on defense to look for is #38 Michael Hargrove. He usually is at MLB but did lineup at nose man on some plays against Tyner. He is very quick to the ball and will hit you very hard on every play. The kicking game is the issue. We punt well when we have to and have great punt and kick-off coverage. The problem is extra-points. We are just not very consistent. I look forward to seeing this game and possibly meeting some of you as well. In my opinion this will be a great game and going to Knoxville sure beats going to Nashville.
  22. Football Dad do you guys run like a throw it deep every play or a more traditional west coast type spread using more underneath crossing patterns, dump passes, and screens? Polk fans we need to remember that we haven't been out of the 2nd round since 1979 and that ended at Goddard Field, in wonderful, majestic, and glorious Alcoa. We have nothing to be cocky about. I hope this is an injury free game with great sportsmanship. Go Polk
