  1. OH YES, They are for REAL. If they do not make it back to the Title Game, this team Way underachieved. Speed, Strength, Depth, and MORE SPEED. They know how to move folks around and get players in position to make plays.... That is Greeneville. I hope you all Win It ALL. Peace
  2. I was hoping to see a fake punt pass play by now with the #1 punter being the starting QB. I am concerned that we do not teach "fair catching" on punt returns when the other team is breathing down your facemask. #14 got hammered twice last Friday. I was impressed that he held on, but WOW!!! Those were some BIG hits. Peace
  3. Congrads to the Indians!! Way to go Big Orange and get a good road win. Keep it up.
  4. There were more Cowbells. Even some in the top of the season ticket section. We ring them to give encouragement to the team and there will be some in The Riot next week, so I have been told. So, Yes, There will be MORE COWBELLS...... :roflolk: Peace
  5. Congrads to the Govs. You all played never say die football. Patriots, Time to go back to work. Peace
  6. Great Post!!! Now let's take care of business tonight and make it 2 in a row. Go Patriots!!!!!!!! Peace
  7. So ToothlessTiger, What was your excuse for losing to Coalfield? Did Rock pull out the can of WA on you all? :roflol: Go Indians!!!!
  8. I must agree with you barb. I am sure it is an issue across the country. I would even say you have people in Alcoa who act that way with 6 State titles in a row. It just angers me that they show so little respect to the current players who work their tails off to win games and play well. No one playing wants to loose. But they drone on about how ALL the former players want the program to be successful, when that is not true. I have even over heard some former players wishing ill on this team. It is rather sickening to witness. Oh Yes, I know I will be "blasted" by many for my post last night. But it is the truth, and the truth will stand when the world is on fire. Peace Be With You
  9. I must respectfully disagree. I understand there are many that want only success for this program. I am one of them. I also understand that there are those who want success for only THEIR family members who are now or were players in recent/current years and nothing but failure for ANYONE else. Even if that means FAILURE for the team/program. What I saw Friday, when it was 3rd and short late in the 3rd Quarter, the coaches are running, they are yelling, waving their arms & wanting the fans to get up & make noise. I turned around (while ringing my cowbells and yelling for the team) to see over half of the season ticket holders in my section sitting on their hands, looking angry/PO'ed/upset/whatever you want to call it. They were doing anything, but making noise to encourage/help the defense stop SC. So, I would say there are SOME who are former players that want only success for the program, but there are those who do not. Now, I am going to get this off my chest and this is not aimed at any one person, you know who you are: I know I am not "from here" and my wife is not “from hereâ€, but we have lived in this county for 16 years (though we do not live on the “right†end of the county according to some people). I pay my taxes, vote in every election and I have followed JCHS since I was in middle school in the early 80's living in Oneida, TN. One of the reasons I located my family in this county after graduating from The University of Tennessee – Knoxville in 1994 was the hope that one day my son could be a Jefferson County Patriot Football player. He is, but I also know we are NOT accepted by the "old guard" of JCHS. I know that we are scoffed at/ridiculed/looked down on, ect... because we are NOT "from here", because I did not play football or other sports here, because I ring cowbells, ect... Even with ALL of that, I STILL Support the Team. I STILL help by donating my time to the program by spending many hours helping clean the field house before this and other seasons, by running the concession stand all day at Meet the Patriots. By letting other parents go see their kids be announced, while I worked the stand. In the 3 years I have run the concessions, I have never seen my son be announced as a Patriot and I never will as he is a Senior this year. I give encouraging words to the players after the games, I tell them to stay positive, keep working hard, that it will all come together (which it did this week). Yet, you folks hate/scoffed at/ridicule/look down on me and my family, I see it, I hear it; I know it is taking place. BUT I STILL SUPPORT THE TEAM. If the folks who give lip service to supporting the team/program got off their tails and made some positive noise, maybe we would win a few more games. But sadly, they will still sit there and grumble under their breath how they would have called/ran something different, how the coaches are stupid, ect…. They will continue to buy tickets, come to ballgames and be miserable even if the team is doing well. They are just unhappy folks who need to find something else to do with their time and energy. I ring a cowbell to drown out the “hatersâ€. I also do it to support the team. If some people do not like it, to bad. I have more and more people asking me for bells to ring during the game. The tradition is growing and I LOVE IT & MORE COWBELL IS COMING!! I am getting more and bigger bells…LOLOL!! Peace Be With You
  10. They do need the ability to walk up to their season ticketed seats. I pray for them as well. IF they would get off their hands and cheer for the team on 3rd down, the crowd noise in DV could be crazy. Sadly, they sit and just look angry. Oh well, with all that anger, they are already "dead" inside. As for the game vs the Bears: WOW!! What a Team effort!!!! Way to hit and "wrap up" on tackles. Good blocking on the O-line helped get the running game back on track. Good job. Were there mistakes made, yes. There are in any football game. Coaches know what they are and I would say they will fix them. Great Win Patriots!!! Now, go back to work this week in practice and get ready for WB. Take it ONE game at a time and focus on the task at hand. Time to get that bad taste out of your mouth from that road loss to WB last year. Go Patriot!!!! More Cowbell!!!! Peace
  11. Ok, we just played 2 very good football teams/programs and got beat. Now, we as a team and as fans need to go out and be the best we can be on Friday Night. I support the team and come what may, after the game, I will still support them. Go Patriots!!! Beat the Smokey Bears!!!!!!
  12. I think you misunderstand rotation for rest. Rotation of our defensive line players, keep those players fresher than the opposing O-linemen as the game wears on. It also keeps the o-line from being able to key and get use to how the d-line is defending. Sadly, we have been so far behind by the 3rd quarter, it really did not matter. It also builds depth as players get injured and the season moves along. The bottom line is, we have to block on offense, tackle on defense (getting the deal done on 3rd/4th down) and not turn the ball over before we can do much else. Simple football is blocking & tackling and holding onto the ball, do that and we win. Peace
  13. ToothlessTiger, Sorry that the Tribe could not schedule creampuffs like North Greene and Whitwell to help inflate their record and stats, but until you folks in “not so bright†play someone ranked or with a winning record, you need to find something to gum on that will go down with that clabbered BullButter you must be drinking. Go Indians!!!
  14. Thanks! Trust me, they annoy me too. But at least the kids know someone is still pulling for them. Peace
  15. This game is played to early in the season, but it is time to move past the last two weeks and play a conference game. Anyone have some thoughts???? Peace
  16. I think Mr. Young and Spradlin are two different types of backs. BJ is a Bash Your Brains in runner. He thrives off of smacking you in the mouth and making you like it. He wears you down and strikes when you’re tired and spent from him grinding on you. Mr. Young is a slasher, cutter and low to the ground runner. That low center of gravity keeps in on his feet when many backs would fold like a cheep tent. I saw him make cuts that NFL players make. That is no joke or exaggeration. He is the REAL DEAL D1 player. Both young men will and should play D1 ball someplace. But if I am a defensive coach, I would be more fearful of Mr. Young than BJ. No offense or disrespect meant. Mr. Young is just that good. BTW, JeffCo’s #44, has ACL surgery this week. Peace
  17. Let me first say, I am NOT A COACH. I am a Football Fan of the Team and I have a son that plays for the Team. That is for full disclosure. If you have a problem with me personally, come see me and we can talk, like adult men, I am not hard to find. I have a Cowbell or two in my hands every Friday night, supporting the Team!!!! Now, where to start on Friday’s game????? Well the fans were good, the band played well and The Riot kept the Sprits up. However, even More Cowbells ringing could not help make tackles, keep the D-line and Linebackers fresh and help the O-line sustain blocks. I knew we were in for a long night when we get the ball first and get a delay of game penalty, on the first play. Really? On the 1st play? Many, many years ago, when I played football in high school, we had the first 3 or 4 plays called and scripted before we even started the game. The QB knew what the plays were and he just went out and ran the offense for that set of plays. It did not matter what happened, we just executed the plays, come what may. Ok, I must say this, at some point in this season, we MUST teach someone besides Eric Cane to be a Center. That young man has a Heart bigger than the field of play, but he is not any good to us at Linebacker if he is going both ways. HELLO!!!!!! I must also say that the players played their hearts out and did not quit. I am proud of you all and your efforts. Stay Positive, the real season starts next week vs the Smokey Bears. Take it one game at a time. Win next week and you will be in the driver’s seat moving toward the playoffs. Remember, you only need to finish 1st or 2nd in the district to guarantee a playoff spot. So, what can we learn from the game? 1: Mr. Young is a legit D1 player. He runs down hill and keeps the legs moving, has cuts that make you think he is a hot knife going through butter. Class Act for the Bearden coach to call off the dogs in the 3rd quarter. 2: Our coaches are not making adjustments during the game. At 21 to 0, having 3 D linemen vs 5 O linemen is not working, call a time out and adjust. Blitz off the edge or do something to get some back field penetration. 3: We are not running the same offensive calls that we ran in the Jamboree. (I know Bearden is not Cherokee) 4: Moving #10 to full/tailback is not the best use of his skills. Pass/Pitch the ball to him in space and on the run so he can use the gifts God gave him. 5: Please learn from last year and ROTATE YOUR D-LINE with fresh players. You do not have to make whole sale changes, just one or 2 at a time for a couple of plays to give them a breather and build depth. 6: I am not a coach and my suggestions are just that, suggestions. I will support the team, win or loose. I love those young men and I pray they stay positive, healthy and win. Go Patriots! More Cowbell!! Peace
  18. Agreed, this game should be game 9 or 10, not the 3rd. Peace
  19. That is why I take a Cowbell and ring it. If I ring a Cowbell, maybe I can drown out the haters who cuss at the kids and coaches during the game. I ring it when we are on Defense and after a good play. It is neutral noise in that the players know someone is pulling for them. After the games, on the boards, adding some constructive ideas is not bad, just throwing the baby out with the bathwater is dumb. Beat Bearden, Go Patriots!!!!!! Peace
  20. That is true that Goins had 0 touches. Not sure why, but that was the facts. Greeneville had a balanced attack and ran well. The truth be told, #3 over shot some players in the 2nd quarter or it could have been worse. The main thing is that Greeneville is the real deal and Jeff has A GREAT DEAL TO WORK ON. I just hope the coaching staff figured out Ironman football at 6A is not the best approach when you have that many 12th graders. We will see on Friday. Peace
  21. I am interested to see what adjustment Coach Anderson and staff make considering #44 is gone for the season at starting D-end and starting fullback. If we do not rotate D-linemen out and keep them fresh, it will be a long drive back from K-town. Peace
  22. Thanks, I will.... Just glad to see that you did not schedule Knox Catholic or Fulton as that season opener losing streak had to break eventually. LOL Tough non conference schedules can be admired though.... Not sure how strong AE is this year, but congrads to you all winning none the less….. see you all in a few weeks. PS: The Cowbell tradition has been passed to some of the Freshman parents too. They were ringing last night as the Freshman and the JV (with only 4 11th graders and the rest 10th graders getting snaps, no 12th graders played last night) beat MoE. Way to go JeffCo JV and Freshmen!!!! Building the program one game at a time.
  23. Thanks barb ! I understand your point on the both ways thing. I would just would like to see some breathers for the O linemen who have to move to the D. Chasing down your QB and RB was tiring to watch. Keep it real. Peace
  24. I think they will be having that in the post season again. Your line and linebackers flash to the ball. Great Speed. Training with Coach D will get you that way. I hope you all win the Gold Ball this year. Peace
